I am going on a two day hike in Israel and was told I needed hiking shoes. Since I only wear altra I found the PERFECT SHOES
no need to break in. Feel great from the start

I'm a die-hard Lone Peak trail running shoe fan. I've been wearing them for all of my hiking and backpacking adventures for over 6 years. I tried the LP 7 and for the first time ever, it wasn't love at first step. I'll review those separately! I thought I'd try the LP Hiker 2 instead to see if it felt better than the LP 7. I'm happy to say that I truly love it. It's an especially nice option for rockier terrain where you might want a little ankle protection. It also eliminates the need to wear gaiters, which I always wear with the LP trail running shoe. The upper on this LP Hiker 2 is far better than I expectedflexible, no grommets to dig into skin, and laces stay tight. The upper doesn't put any pressure on my heel or ankles and it doesn't restrict my shin from forward motion. The tongue is very comfortable. I LOVE the brown color. It has a slight dusty rose/mauve/salmon tint to it. These are true to size. I always wear an 8.5 in Lone Peaks and these are no different. It feels very similar to the LP 4.5 and LP 5 (shown in photo). If anything, it does feel a tiny bit more fitted in the midsole.
I can immediately tell that it will be warmer and less breathable than the trail runner, but, I'd expect that from a boot. So, I will likely reserve these for cooler days and rockier terrain., but I will also wear these a lot as a daily winter boot just because they are cute!

AMAZING - most comfy shoe I’ve ever worn, hiking and otherwise.
Fit right out of the box, first thing I did was take them on a steep up-and-down ridge hike with shale and gravel that had defeated my Lems boots. Solid grip. Zero foot pain after. Very happy feet. They have a curiously squishy insole, like memory foam - incredibly comfortable.
My feet tend somewhat wide, and have a mild bunion that is a pressure point (from wearing Vans during pregnancy, oops). I wear a 9.5 and went up a half size to 10; definitely agree with the recommendation there.
The ‘brown’ color is straight-up salmon in person, like a dusty rose-brown-coral deal, like a hot dog. It’s OK, but an actual brown would be more to my taste, this one is basically pink apart from the tongues.
They are pretty adorable, in a round-toed juvenile endearing sort of way, which suits me down to the ground since I’m a gleeful spirit once I’m in the woods, and who isn’t? But yeah, a little clown-y.
Love them. So much.

Just finished a 35 mile backpacking trip in CO after purchasing the Lone Peak Hiker 2 size 7. I did switch out the insoles for Dr Scholls, but other than that these were perfection. A large # of our group suffered with blisters and soreness but I did not. These boots were very stable in extremely wet and muddy conditions as well as a very dry and rocky area. I'll be a customer for life. 10/10 recommend!

I really love how comfortable these are, but Altra for the love of all things hiking, PLEASE put a decent tread on these boots. I'll take a bit more weight as a trade for better tread. Horrible tread!

These are the perfect hiking boots! Let me back up and say I started out with the lone peak hiking shoe and I have used those for years. I loved everything about them, until it came to hiking the rocky and sandy parts of my home state. My ankles didn't have the support needed with the shoe. I cannot tell you how many times I rolled my ankles. Anyways, I loved the shoe so much I decided to buy a hiking boot through altra. Due to the hot weather conditions in my home state, I needed something light weight and breathable. Enter the lone peak boot. Now, the material is thicker than the lone peak shoes to add extra protection, as it should, but that means it fits a little smaller than the shoe. I had to go a whole size up from my lone peak shoe to get the perfect fit for the boot. (I ordered 3 different boots sizes trying to find the right size. Altras return/30 day trial was amazing for this situation!). My ankles are now protected and supported and I have not had a single rolled ankle! That being said, this is not a heavy duty boot. I would suggest checking out some of their other boots if you are looking for a thicker sole or sturdier material. However, I have taken them on a few 7 miles hikes in very rocky conditions and have not had a single rip or tear in the material.
I HIGHLY recommend this shoe to everyone: family, friends, even strangers!

I have 2 pairs of Altra shoes, size 10, so I went with the 10.5 (per suggestions on reviews). They are perfect. They feel like the trail running shoes, but with that ankle support! 10/10!

Ordered half-size up for hiking boot (do same for my Salomon hiking boots that fit well) but boots were too short. Thought I'd try Altra for wide toe box but did not feel any advantageous toe box space in this boot vs. boots I've used in the past. Boots did not appear stitched correctly on side top of toe box - fabric was puckered. Boots did not come in original packaging and looked a bit worn. It was an experiment to try something new as I've been looking for a light hiker to try. Might work for others, didn't work for me.

Loyal Altra wearer and these were a miss for me. After trying them on and trying on stairs indoors I knew I had to return.
Not sure if these run small for Altras but I purchased my normal Altra shoe/boot size size. My toes were hitting and the toe box didn’t feel like the natural foot shape normal for Altra.
I’ve got at least 7 pairs of Altra sneakers, trail shoes, and hiking boots but these are going back.
I don’t recommend.

I have a pair of Lone Peak all weather boots that I love, sadly these don't compare. They're way too narrow, and they slip around the heel. The material is stiff and uncomfortable.

I loved the Lone Peak Mid Mesh from 3.0 on and faithfully used it for 4 years and thousand of miles including JMT but it is was DISCONTINUED. I tried Hike 1.0 way to narrow, then I tried hiker 2.0 just today. It failed miserably downhill causing major pain to both big toes mainly because they hard material that was added to the front and I only hiked 4miles but steep terrain. I never had this issue with the lone peak mid due to flexible front. I tried the Lone Peak runners but I keep rolling my ankles so I really need some ankle support. I am so disappointed in the decision to discontinue Lone Peak Mid ( the water proof is OK for me in winter but way to hot and none breadable in summer). I hope you consider bringing back Lone Peak as Mid Mesh.

I LOVE these boots. Hiked Zion National Parks "Angels Landing" and Bryce Canyon in them. Grip and support was incredible, toe box is perfect. Got a size up for thick hiking socks and NO blisters.

Use for day hiking and backpacking. Wear a 7 in a "dress" shoe. 7.5 in athletic. Had to go up to 8 in these to accommodate wool Injinji sox. I like a very flexible shoe, but these are a little to soft for very rocky or rooty terrain. Changed to Sole medium performance footbeds (cork) to get more protection under foot.

I've really enjoyed these shoes! They're comfortable, cute and have held up very well. I do not have wide feet so at first I wondered if the toe box might be too big, but it was actually nice that my toes had a little extra space to stretch. I ordered the size I usually wear, and wore the shoes mainly for a hiking trip to New Zealand. They're lightweight and have ankle support, both of which are definitely helpful when going out on a trail. Two thumbs up!

Overall it’s a beautiful shoe. I have 6 pairs of Altra shoes. All 6 pairs are the same size. These shoes felt a half size too small. I’m returning the shoes because I realize that I just don’t like high top shoes. I cannot be bothered with all of the laces. It’s just a hassle to me and I don’t need ankle support. I would recommend these shoes if you like to wear high tops :)

I work outside at farmers markets, clear land, build things and get up to all kinds of muddy mischief in my other boots. These are my clean boots for times a slightly smelly boot won't do. I so love to wear them. People compliment them and I dance around in comfort. Some complain about then not being brown. It's true they are more of a dusty salmon with brown accents and peach laces - way more fun than just brown. The one thing that would make these better is to go back to a pull tab so they're easier to pull on. I love you Altra! Thanks for making these neuroma friendly boots.

I went a half size up as recommended and they fit fantastically. I wore these for the first time on some longer hikes in Olympic national park and they were great! Not a single blister, I felt protected and comfortable the entire time. They are a little hot for summer but that's to be expected with a boot. These are amazing, I have some older lone peak trail runners and these remind me exactly of those!

These boots are amazing!!! I have tried on probably a hundred pairs of boots and none fit right. I wore these for seven miles right out of the box and my feet felt amazing all day!! I'm an Altra fan now!!
