I have owned several pairs of Lone Peak All-WTHR boots and am, therefore, comparing this boot to that model. Walking-/hiking-wise, the two shoes are very similar - i.e. very comfortable. All three of my All-WTHR have had the problem that the material eventually tears - i.e. creates a hole - where the big toe bends. Pretty disappointing and the main reason I wanted to try these Hiker 2 boots. I have not yet had the the Hiker 2 long enough to establish whether they, too, have the same design flaw. But I have immediately discovered another shortcoming: they're hard as he11 to get into, compared to the All-WTHR boots. Unlike those, the Hiker 2s doesn't have speed hooks for the top 2 eyelets - it's the same lacing system you see on regular sneakers, really. As a result, loosening the shoe to get into them is a chore every time. Making it worse, the finger hook on the heel of the boot meant to help you pull on the boot is too small and too low to be of any help. Very frustrating. The All-WTHRs put on much more easily.

Extremely comfortable like most ALTRAs, but as usual the soles are made out of the softest rubber possible. Guaranteed to wear out in a few 100 km. I'll go back to my British barefoot shoes.

I also have Lone Peak 6s and LP All-Weather Hiker 2. This LP Hiker 2 is too hot. The toe box is much tighter than the other two shoes. I just wanted a tall version of the LP6 but this isn't it.

These Lone Peak 2's are utterly hideous. I came here to replace my other two pairs but I will look for a retailer with an older version in stock. Seriously. Hideous. The last version of the unlined are my favorite shows ever and they get replaced with... "this." Bring back the khaki lone peak mids!

Can we please get an all black color without the orange. Like the old lone peak 4.

Firstly, thank you Altra for making a trail shoe with zero drop. Can't say enough about how important this is. However, there is still a lot of room for improvement: while the 11.5 size is perfect length for my feet, the width and volume are absolutely huge! I added a 6mm insole under the factory insole, and my foot still slides around from side to side. In general these are high top sneakers with a moderately aggressive sole. They do not properly lock down the foot and don't feel secure on steep trails. The sole is too squishy, and there isn't support underfoot for edging if a particular foothold is narrow. I would love it if Altra could make a real hiking boot with 5mm Vibram style sole, with a solid heel cup and other reinforcements to secure the foot, while keeping zero drop and roomy toe box. Also consider that someone might want to use gaiters which requires a bit of space on the sole for the strap.

These shoes fit tighter and much narrower than the great Lone Peaker Hiker 1, which I have enjoyed for two years. It's sad that I can no longer count on Altra for wide toe box and roomy fit.

The toe box is too narrow compared to my Paradigm 6. I noticed the exact same thing on the Paradigm 7 so I rushed out and bought two pairs of Paradigm 6 so I can have decent shoes for the next couple of years. I suspected that the company seems to be going mainstream and the Lone Peak Hiker 2 validates my concern as the toe box is noticeably narrower compared to the Paradigm 6. I will no longer be buying Altra shoes!

Aw, man... Lost another brand of great shoes to "better fit" and crazy color designers. The "original fit" is nothing like the original. The toe box is smaller, and the bottom of the laces where the stitching joines the shoes is ridged and digs into the top of the foot. Who in the world came up with the Back to the Future color scheme? There is NO possible chance of wearing these new colors in any setting but a clown show; I used to be able to get away with wearing them at work, but not anymore. When someone in design gets it together, please send me a note Id certainly try again. I ABSOLUTELY loved the Lone Peaks prior to this last round of insanity redesign. thank you

I bought these boots for the added ankle protection, but they failed. I only used them one day (8 miles) and they started to fall apart. I also bought these in the same size I get in the other Lone Peak Series and they were too small. If you buy these up size by at least a half size and don't expect them to work in terrain other than groomed hiking trails (AKA pavement). I will be returning these as soon as I possible.

The colorways released are not palatable or neutral enough to wear professionally. Please replace the weird splash of colors with more uniform or solid colors. The prior khaki was awesome, similar

Exactly like what everyone else is saying. Very comfortable but they are extremely narrow and it started cutting off circulation to my feet. Also, takes a lot of work to take them off and put them on.

Even after exchanging for a half-size larger they are still too small and narrow. The previous lone peaks I loved the width and feel.

The original Lone Peak Hiker is my favorite shoe ever. These don't fit me in the same size I wear in the original lone peak hiker. Less breathable, hard to get on. Please fix this for version 3!

Hardest shoe to put on, ridiculous. My MEN'S LONE PEAK ALL-WTHR MID 2 are fantastic and I thought these look like next step in rugged but they are not fun to wrestle on to my feet at all.

I'm not to happy with the fit out of the box. Since the previous loaner peak hi tops are no longer made this was the only next option other than winter. I really like the fit and feel on the line peak 7 high tops I went through 2 pairs and loved the now these feel like a hard work boot than an athletic high top. I will probably be returning these before the 30 day trial is up if the feel doesn't improve

First of all. I love the Lone Peak. Yes they wear out to fast, but it gave me a comfortable hiking shoe. I wear a size 16, so comfortable and shoe don't really go together for me. I was introduced to the Lone Peak 4 and that is what I have worn the last 6 years is the Lone Peak. Exclusively for a while, but then I started to notice that they were getting shorter in the toe. The wide toe box stayed about the same, but starting with the Lone Peak 5 I noticed my toes would touch the front when going down hill, not a deal breaker. The 6's were much worse. Didn't bother with the 7's. When the 6's disappointed me I found a retailer that had 5 pairs of the 4.5's in size 16 and I bought them all. I saw that Altra made the Lone Peak Hiker and I finally decided to try them. I got them and put them on. Toes hit the front just trying them on. No amount of different ways of tieing the laces helped. I am so disappointed. I will still recommend Altra's, but that people need to buy a size up. Sadly I think I am done with Altra, unless they start making them true to size, or make a 17, which would disapoint the people that wear 17'sI saw that Altra made the Lone Peak Hiker and I finally decided to try them. I use these hiking in Shenandoah which has its fair share of rocky summits and trails. Unfortunately, the rubber is very slippery on rocks. This adds excessive danger to hikes. They're great otherwise.

I wish y'all had stayed with the original colors. They were super popular with myself and other Recon Marines. Most popular boot at this year's challenge. But I can't wear these colors at work now.

I have enjoyed Lone Peak running shoes and the hikers for years. These are the same size I always get, but they turned out to be about a half size too short. Also, they are hot, much like the all weather Lone Peak Hikers that I have. I really wanted something light, and cool much like the Lone Peak Hikers (the non all weathers) that I was replacing. I will be returning these, and replacing them with the older model. Altra is a great shoe, I think that this has been my only negative experience.

Altra fan boy and love the lone peaks. But something is off. My feet always get pushed forward and cramp my toes. Even went up a size and changed the lace style, nothing worked. Wore for 3 weeks.

I have been a big fan of Altra Lone Peaks since 2017. I work in National Parks and have hiked various terrain since 2017 and the LP's have been my hiker of choice. Unfortunately, the massive change in design/materials etc has had a huge negative impact of the performance of this hiker. I love a wide toe box so fortunately have found another brand that can fill the need for a hiker. This version (and the previous) are almost dangerous to hike in. The hiker even had an odd fit/feel. Two main issues: 1) the foot feels sloppy in the shoe. There is very little support in the mid to rear of the shoe. When hiking descents and off camber terrain, the foot shifts/slides and moves all over making for a very unstable step. The new material of the shoe seems to stretch a lot so no matter how tight you lace the shoe there is a lot of foot movement. 2) This hiker is not supposed to be all weather, however, Altra added a inner booty/liner that causes your foot to become very hot. The booty/liner also is very noisy. I am not sure why Altra did such a massive departure off their very successful legacy Lone Peaks 3 and 4. I know a lot of hiker/runners leaving Alta and finding other wide toe box shoes. Hopefully Altra will pay attention to customers complaints and steer the ship in the right direction.

Very comfortable but cheap laces were used and the top lace notch is a eyelet instead of a hook. Makes it hard to loosen the laces enough to get the boot on and off.

I love the Long Peak series of shoes. I have a pair of Lone Peak 4 mids that I bought for climbing/hiking at Joshua Tree and which I wore almost immediately out of the box for a 15+ mile excursion with a double sock setup (liner + wool). Those shoes are still my everyday defaults when I just need to throw something on. So I was really excited to see the new design for these. The grey/orange version is the nicest looking shoe Altra has come out with in ages. Bought a pair within a couple of days of release, ordered a half size up because I want to use these as everyday shoes and don't care that much about perfect fit. I couldn't even get my left foot into the shoe, no matter how much I loosened the laces. Since the right shoe was okay, I thought maybe that was just manufacturing issue. So I returned that pair and ordered a replacement pair. Both shoes hurt with the new pair. The toe box is okay (although narrower than most Lone Peaks, I think), but there's something just behind the toe box that is acutely painful on the top of my foot when I try to wear these. I even tried with lightweight socks and they still don't fit. And of course, Altra isn't offering these shoes in other widths. So I guess I could order a full size larger, except there's already a significant amount of space in front of my toe. I don't think going up a full size is going to fit well in the rest of my foot, even if it does relieve the pain. Bummer, I really wanted to like these.
