After having a great experience with my first Saucony pair last year (PWRRUN Axon VisiPro), which I wore out, I decided to go with the slightly less expensive Axon 3 this season.
Sadly, after only three 10km runs, I really, really dislike the feel and overall design of the Axon 3.
There are plusses and they are: the shoes are very very lightweight, obviously very well crafted, and are very breathable, but in my opinion the shoes go downhill from there.
In my opinion the sole foam is just too soft. Yes indeed it's comfy, but I find that when runming in proper midsole strike form there is a squishiness which allows for too much lateral wobble in the material itself, almost as if I have big, flat marshmallows under my feet. The Axon 3's don't feel nearly as robust and sure footed as the VisiPro's, and I just just can't seem to really dig and take off with them.
The other major concern is the ankle area. Personally, I feel like the shoe doesn't provide enough ankle support. My wish would be that the interior heel of the shoe was about .25" deeper, so that the exterior ankle surround came up that might higher. The heel cup feels shallow, basically, and as with my complaint about the midsole, there is a noticable lack of stability underfoot. My heel doesn't feel seated in the Axon 3, and I've noticed the slightest left Achilles twang since using these shoes, which I've never previously had a problem with. These factors really don't inspire confidence while running.
The last thing we want to think about while we enjoy a run is our shoes. Unfortunately, all I can think about when wearing the Axon 3 is how much I'm having to compensate and microadjust for them. That's almost as tiring as running itself.
I will be privately selling them, as I don't believe I can return them now.
Still a fan of the brand, but I got sucked in by the lower price of this model, and big surprise, they feel cheap compared to the upper end models.

One of the lightest and most cushioned running shoes I've ever had. Definitely recommend these pair of shoes

Brilliant shoe at a great price. Can spend a lot more money and get a lot less. Perfect if you are looking for a lower drop, slightly faster daily trainer with plenty of cushioning.

As someone who runs weekly on the bulkier side, it's great to have a pair of shoes that greatly reduces the quality of blisters I get at the end of my runs.

I am not a running footwear expert, but the Axon 3's are comfortable, light, stable and well cushioned for the trail running surface of compact gravel that I run on. Recommended !

Pretty comfy shoe. It had a little bit of a heel slip for me but tying a heel lock fixed it easily. I am definitely on the heavier side and the midsole has held up well for me so far. Probably not the best shoe for every workout but it's a good shoe for most of them. For the price I'm not sure you can get anything better for just an all around daily trainer.

This shoe is so comfortable! I initially bought them for my walking group members and then ended up doing a run in my pair and fell in love. I prefer it to the other Saucony models I was running in (Ride, Kinvara, Speeds). The price point helps, too!

This show is my fourth pair of Saucony shoes. I love everything about the Axon 3. The fit is perfect, the support the shoe provides when I'm running is amazing! I recommend the Axon 3 for a lightweight stable running shoes.

Good running shoes. Using them for cross country. The sole naturally encourages your foot to take the next step.

I've been using these shoes for about a month now and I love them. They're my first ever pair of Saucony shoes and I couldn't be happier with them. I run on paved roads, around 15 miles per week. They are super cushioned so my heels are aching when I'm done and my shins feel pretty good too. They fit true to size, with no heel slippage, and they're light weight. They're a tiny bit slippery on wet pavement, but not enough to stop me from going out on wet roads. Otherwise, very nice traction and an overall good value for the money.

I bought these because I had purchased 2 pairs of Saucony but a different style, and they were comfortable. These by far look more comfortable and boy they are. I love these sneakers.

After having a pair for about 30 days, this shoe is fast on the track and knocks out longer miles without beating me up. I'll get another pair.

This is the running shoe I've been looking/waiting for, for a long time. They are light weight with lots of cushioning and the design really helps with the push-off from the toe. In addition to the overall fit and comfortability, I noticed a shorter recovery time with joints and muscles. As an older runner, this can make a huge difference.

I bought them to walk aroind in on vacation, not knowing what of shoe they were. I went running in them just as an experiment and I couldn't believe how incredible they were. They are the most inexpensive pair of running shoes I have ever purchased and are now my go to traing shoes. I run 4 to 8 miles 6 days a week in them. I had knee and calf issues and no longer have those pains.

Best shoes I've ever run in. Period. By a meaningful margin. I run 5-6 days a week usually 3 to 9 miles per run in training for a variety of races. I've been running regularly for almost 20yrs. The Axon 2's were widely regarded as one of the best running shoes on the market when they came out last year - these keep all the features that made those great while also making the right improvements (better traction, an upper with a slot for the laces to minimize tongue slippage - which some people experienced but I never did - and a subtle heel tab). I still own my Axon 2's and love them - they've now become my second favorite pair of shoes...These Axon 3s are even better and it is noticeable. Clearly Saucony is paying attention to the feedback experts and users are sharing about their products.
NOTE: I have a pretty standard foot shape and am a very neutral runner. These are NOT stability shoes/for people with pronation issues and - like all shoes - may fit some feet better than others.
Here's why I love these:
- They're affordable! Comparable shoes are usually 50% more
- They're cushioned without being too plush or heavy - very comfortable
- They have enough of a rocker design to help propel you forward
- They have a new added layer of grippy and durable rubber which give them enough traction for any conditions outside of ice, but that's thin enough to help them remain relatively light
- They have a great upper and a heel that stays in place
- They're more than supportive/stable enough for most runners that don't require stability shoes.
As far as neutral running shoes are concerned these are the best I've experienced and are versatile enough for regular training runs, speed work, shake outs, and race day. I do have different running shoes for different activities but if I had to choose only one shoe to run in for all activities it'd be these ones by a mile.
Part of me has seriously considered buying 10-pairs of these and keeping them stored in case Saucony messes around with future generations or increases the price on this line. If the Axon 4s make a significant departure from the 3s design and/or price I'll probably stock up on the 3s before they're off the market. PLEASE DON'T MESS WITH THESE OR THEIR PRICE SAUCONY!

I have tried every manner of lacing these to try to alleviate the issue, with help from a running coach, but they hurt the top of my feet. The cushioning on bottom is nice, but the top fits weird and hurts the longer you wear. I Typically wear the Endorphin 3 but wanted to give these a try. Super uncomfortable.

Axon has been a great training shoe. Upset that Saucony has discontinued it. Not much 4mm heel drop options for training left

For the price this was a fantastic entry level running shoe. Light weight with great cushion to take on any run. As you put miles on them you will notice the wear and tear but by then youre sold on Saucony and ready to upgrade to better shoes.
