I cannot overstate how thrilled I am to have found these shoes. I have a hard-to-fit wide foot, and usually where Brooks Ghost running shoes. But I needed lightweight hiking shoes, and very few such shoes are available in wide widths. I decided that trail runners would give me the best shot at a comfortable wide shoe suitable for hiking, and tried them all, including Brooks Cascadia, Hoka Challenger, Hoka Speedgoat, Altra Lone Peak, and New Balance Fresh Foam X More Trail. Most of these shoes are in the "plush" category, with a high stack, thick padding, and huge outsoles. Others like the Lone Peak are the opposite -- thin, minimalist zero-drop shoes that feel more like you're wearing a slipper. The Saucony Peregrine was the "Goldilocks" of the bunch. They were nearly the lightest of all of them, very ventilated, with a wide toe box but a firm grip on the heel (no heel lock lacing needed). The tongue and upper are thin, but the insole padding was the thickest of any of them, making for a nice combination of comfort and quick-dry breathability. They aren't zero-drop shoes, but they are close, with only 4mm difference from heel to toe. They have a pretty low profile and will be a lot easier to pack than the New Balance or Hokas. Most important, they have a super grippy feel on both flat and rocky/muddy terrain. And the big, well-spaced lugs seem to shed mud almost instantly. They are a joy to wear, and remarkably were equally comfortable both with my usual athletic socks and my thick hiking socks. Reviews here suggest that the under-heel wedge can disintegrate. That would not be great so I'll keep an eye out and report back if it happens to me. I'll be taking them on a 3 week hiking trip in the spring, so that should uncover any hidden issues.
I'd also recommend:
Hoka, Brooks, Altra

The toe box was more narrow than the Peregrine 12. The top of the shoe was tighter than the 12. The center of the shoe, the arch area, and the heal area felt great.

overall I like the additional powerrun underfoot. However, the new laces are too stretchy and its harder to keep a good lock down compared to the 12. This also causes heel rub even with a runners knot

The Perigrine 13 is the shoe for me! Comfortable and wearable right out of the box. Great traction on the hiking trails. I love the loops in the tongue and heel to aid in pulling on these shoes. Saucony is a favorite brand for quality shoes.

Great fitting and feeling shoe. Love them For running my local trails and hills. Feels Light weight. 4/5 on looks. Love the cleats on the bottom designed for running up hill and down hill as well. Saucony shoes always fit my feet perfect. I currently own and run in 5 different variety of saucony shoes. They all fit my foot great. Love these for trail runs. Love my triumph 21s for long comfy runs on the road. Kinvara 14s for tempo/speed work. And speed 3s for all around. Again all saucony running shoes feel/fit great on my foot.

Good looking shoe but I sent them back due to being too big. I wear 11 in Brooks so I ordered 11 in these but they were about a 1/2 too big.

Excellent hiking shoe very comfortable and super stylish. I wear a women's size 10 and bought these in the men's 8.5 and they fit perfectly. I never ordered mens shoe for myself before but it worked out. Yay. I love them!

I'm an ex-runner who can't kick the habit for a good pair of training shoes. I now walk as many or more miles than when I was running. My walking is primarily on hilly gravel roads and trails. The Peregrine 13 trail runner is superior to the typical running shoe for these surfaces.

These are the BEST trail shoe's I've ever worn! The fit is incredible. Secure w/out feeling tight or sloppy. Excellent feel on the trail while still giving excellent protection and traction on everything but the sloppiest trails. And i have the perfect shoe for that. The Peregrine ST! 300 mile's on the 1st pair, and still wearing great. Not one single issue. These truly are my Goldilocks! I would not change a single thing. Thank you!!!

Although I haven't taken them on the trail yet they have been awesome for walking on flat roads and on the ground. Much softer under for than my previous other brand. Wish toe area was a little wider but they work.
