Great lightweight shoe for trail running. Compared to the Norvan SL version 1 I would say the sock-like upper is much more comfortable and very effective at keeping debris from entering the shoe (a feature that the Norvan LD 3 desperately needs). The heel counter now has a soft gel-like cushion and is less hard. The shoe has good 'ground feel' although this means you will feel every rock under foot. The cushioning is better than the SL version 1 (which was quite jarring on long runs) but still not nearly as soft as LD 3. The transition from trail to road is fairly smooth but I would not use for running on the road. This would be the ideal shoe to set a PR in the grouse grind or shorter trail runs! Would also make an excellent shoe for hiking!

I bought these shoes for a 2 month trip in Portugal . My criteria was that they had to be ultra light, breathable, durable, fast drying, comfortable and neutral in colour so I could wear them in a nightclub with jeans and not look like an old man... They tick all the boxes except for maybe the last one which was a tall order for a trail running shoe. In the right pair of pants that cover most of the upper shoe they look fine, but the tight "ankle sock" has an interesting look if you're wearing them for a fashion statement. They also fit like a snug sock, so there's minimal air movement around your foot, but luckily they are mesh in many areas and breath well when moving, but not while sitting on a long haul flight.
In terms of comfort, they fit true to size and the comfort is excellent. I wear them for river crossings and they dry super fast while still offering great stability. They don't come with insoles in an effort to minimize weight, so if you want to add some, consider sizing up. I typically wear men's 8.5 - 9 US (41.5 - 42 EUR) and I cannot put an insole into the size 9 due to the fact that it already fits me like a glove.
Overall, a really excellent design and super comfortable shoe for people with normal shaped feet. My son has fairly wide feet and he loves them too. My feet are very average and they conform nicely. I can't speak to their durability yet, but like all Arc'Teryx gear, the materials are top notch and they appear to be holding up well after one month of heavy wear.
If you're looking for ultralight weight, breathable, comfortable trail running shoes, these are a nice product.

Light weight, breathability, durability and comfort level combined make the Norvan SL 3 my favorite shoe for long distance hiking especially in warm weather environments. I have used the SLs on varying terrain and incline/declines without any slippage, ankle rolling or discomfort. The addition of the ankle hugging elastic prevents debris from getting in your shoe and the spacing of the Vibram tread provides excellent grip even in wet conditions. I owned a pair of SL 2s previously and didn't expect the 3s to get any better but I'm glad I upgraded. You get what you pay for with this product so I would say the price point is spot on. Would like to see more light colors for hot sun lit areas. Side note: To show how light these shoes are my wife thought I recieved an empty box when she checked the mail.

This new version solve all the problems I had with previous versions of the SL! These are now incredibly comfortable while still maintaining their light build. The top partial gaiter works great at keeping out debris. I now find myself torn between wearing the LD and the SL for most regular trail runs. I have worn these on several full day hikes and have been impressed with how fresh my feet have felt at the end!

These shoes are AMAZING. They are so light that you would think that they would be uncomfortable, but that's definitely not the case. They are the most comfortable runners I've ever had. They are so good for the summer heat when you want something light and breathable. I have worn them every single day for 4 months (took them on a long trip as my only shoes) for both walking around town and running and have been really impressed at how durable they are. They feel very stable - just as stable as any of the bulkier trail runners I've had before.
One small thing was that I have never worn a shoe with a knit collar before and I found it took me a day or two to get used to the sensation. Since then no issues and I'm converted - it keeps dirt and debris out from your shoe so well!
As for fit, I wear the same size in all Arc'teryx footwear and this is no different.

This shoe scrambles and limbs super well! The weight and Megagrip outsole make it a perfect shoe for those bigger "runs" that double as climbs. It is also insanely durable for the weight

bought these for daily 10k trail runs on abandoned railway tracks and old logging roads. My preference is very minimal shoe as this is all forefoot running and hitting a lot of obstacles, rocks rotted wood ties and the shoes offer just enough protection and an open enough toe space to work perfectly. They didn't come with insoles which I thought odd but would have probably taken them out anyway. The grip is amazing especially on steep gravel and wet tracks. Feet felt a little beatup after 15k so looking at trying the LD. Gotta love this shoe - would be nice to have an even more ventilated version for hot summers

I bought this pair a month ago. I'm delighted with them!
I was able to test them on trail outings (ranging from 10 to 25km) at home in the French Basque country.
Incredibly light, and bucking the trend towards "high cushioning" in most trail shoes, they give you a better feel for the surface and better proprioception, while maintaining an excellent level of comfort.
Grip is very good on dry ground, even in very technical, rocky sections. Not yet tested in wet weather. The mesh is ultra-breathable.
Highly recommend!

After reading "Born to Run," I really wanted to commit to a zero drop shoe and change my running style with hopes that I would be able to improve my technique and ability to run longer without injury. The Norvan SL is the perfect shoe for this. I love how breathable they are, the grip of the sole make them a perfect approach shoe and there is a slot along the edge of the ankle so I can clip them with a carabiner onto my climbing harness on multi-pitch climbs. I feel like I'm running and walking barefoot! For size, I suggest a half or full size smaller than usual. I normally wear a women's 7 or 7.5 and I have these in a 6.5.

The best trail shoe I've ever had. I've realistically bought about 30 trail shoes in the past, all different brands and these are by far the best. Low heel drop, comfy fit, can tuck in the laces using the tongue, lightweight, they look nice, durable!
Fits true to size. Love them, awesome job.

I've used this shoe for a few weeks for running on roads and trails, and I've also used it casually. The new revision adds some great features, such as the elastic cuff. I find them responsive and comfortable. An excellent shoe for the trails and travel as the minimal snappy design doesn't take up too much room. I found a bit too much material in the elastic tongue.

I have only worn the shoes a few times but so far so good. They are a bit narrow for me though, I wish they had a wide size. I love how lite the shoes are and how vented they are.
