Although the shoes have a nice, large toebox, it felt as though my toes were rubbing up against the edge of the shoes however, I've been wearing them a lot now and I don't even notice that feeling anymore. What I do notice is that my feet are comfortable and my toes are not squished. The only negative thing is that I had to remove the laces that came with the shoes. They were too short and didn't allow the shoe to open up all the way...couldn't get my foot in. Fortunately the shoes came with an extra pair of longer laces which I inserted and which work perfectly. I'll keep these shoes!

To be honest, I had totally given up on finding shoes that fit my weird feet that experience a host of foot problems. While I can't speak for other people, this shoe definitely fit me! I was shocked. The width was just about perfect (with a little stretching it will be) and the size was correct. Because of a connective tissue disorder, I have a lot of problems with my feet spreading beyond the instep (and towards the toe box) in the vast majority of shoes and my feet are quite thick in the middle. X-wide shoes don't normally fit, even if I get a size up. The last pair of shoes I got was seven years ago and I looked for shoes two years ago with no luck.
I will definitely be looking for more of this brand because I did not have to adjust the arch support or switch out the laces like other reviewers. I was considering getting custom-made shoes (and have been for a few years), but now I won't need it for this kind of shoe. Hopefully, I can find a more formal shoe in the future for events like funerals, memorials, and weddings. If Orthofeet ever goes into making those shoes, I will step up to the plate to buy a pair if they can keep this quality up to snuff.
I got the gray pair in 8.5 X-wide. If they had more colors other than maroon, I would have gone for another pair!

These are really nice shoes and I would have kept them but for one thing
These are very nice shoes. However, I was unable to wear them because I was unable to put them on. The raised part on the back of the heel was too high and, being a senior citizen with mobility problems, the difficulty was not worth the effort. However, I do recommend them because my reason for returning them was my problem, not the shoe's!

I had originally gotten my usual size, 6.5 and the XX wide which felt loose and a little weird. I put in the additional inserts and they made a minimal difference, I felt like I was walking around on fluffy pillows with clown feet. I sized down to the 6 and regular wide and they were the most comfortable shoes I'd ever put on right out of the box. I didn't want to take them off! I didn't use any of the additional inserts. So the moral of the story - find your correct size and you will love these shoes!

My mother, aged 85, has size 11.5 feet, so finding shoes for her is tricky. These fit perfectly. The only drawback is that they are wearing out after only 4 months, but she wears them all day, every day.

Reason I purchased these was because I wanted a roomy toe box. Glad that there were extra, longer shoelaces enclosed with the sneakers. I couldn't even get my foot in the shoe the way it was laced. I inserted the longer laces and removed the plastic toggle (or whatever it's called) and just tied the shoes normally. I'm still trying them out, leaving them on a few hours. They seem comfortable in the toe box area even though each big toe comes right up to the end of the shoe (the reason for my "felt half size smaller" comment). They're not rubbing and so far, are comfortable, so I'll see how they feel at the end of the day.

Love Orthofeet shoes. The additional arch support is very comfortable and the inserts make wearing thinner or thicker socks a nice option.

I have Morton's neuroma in one foot and bought these to take along on a 3 week (mostly walking) trip to SE Asia. Along with my ancient Trek sandals, these were all I wore for the entire trip. With the addition of the arch support supplied, I was more comfortable than I expected. Interestingly, once I got back home, I had to take a break from wearing them as the discomfort returned, but after a month off, I'm back in them again. Guess I just need to rotate shoes!

Very soft and comfortable. Great for diabetic feet. However there is not much side support due to the cloth upper. They feel more like a slipper. I have very wide feet and foot problems so I appreciated the soft, wide toe box but they seem like they will soon stretch out too much and require a thicker sock or insole. But if you have bunions, neuropathy or any foot issues, you will absolutely love these.

The fit is great. They felt broke in the first time I put them on. I have wide feet, so I was excited to see that they have wide sizes available. They came with inserts in case they don't fit the greatest and also arch support inserts that are great as well. I'm very happy with these shoes overall. I've been wearing them to work for about a week now and my feet feel much better.

I'm always amazed when I find a shoe that fits me, because my feet are different sizes: the right foot is a nice, delicate 8 medium, and the eNORmous bunion on the left needs a shoe a mile wide. The size 9W of these shoes actually fits. I usually wear delicate shoes with heels that I can walk around the city in quite comfortably, but I needed walking shoes for a remote island. I wouldn't wear these shoes around anyone I know; I haven't had a pair of sneakers in the past 35 years. But these do fit, and I won't stub my toe or slip, so I guess I'll keep them. Have only had them on for about 15 minutes, but they still feel good. The problem is not arches....it's that one bunion. As for the 'true to' categories, I don't know what sizes mean anymore, but I filled that out 'moderate' or 'true to' each time. The moral is: the fabric is soft and stretchy enough to fit comfortably around the Guinness Book of Records Biggest Bunion.

The sizing is accurate and the toes are wide and deep enough to accommodate my substantial bunions, however, the soles are too soft and flexible for my taste. I had to return them, so can’t say anything about how they hold up. Style and construction seem fine, but not as nice I would hope for this price point.

I wasn't planning on the separate arch support structure, but I put them in and they are great. I wore these without breaking them in for a day of strenuous walking, and they were fine. When I looked at the photos I was a little concerned about the brand name on the back of the shoe, but it really is black-on,-black stitching, and not sure anyone can read it and know you are wearing Ortho shoes. They look very stylish.

After a long search I think I've found the most comfortable option of shoes to wear on an upcoming 16 day trip throughout Germany. I was looking for a shoe with a wide toe and comfortable sole. Orthofeet provided an extra arch support, which feels very natural. I experimented with the additional thinner insoles, but did not need them. Very happy with the shoes.

These shoes were uncomfortable, not enough padding, even with my own custom orthotic and gel heel cup. It was difficult to get my foot in either shoe; they were not wide enough with the bandages I must wear for my ankles on my feet. Even with them off, it was difficult to get on and just not comfortable. I did not feel arch support or overpronation control. They were long enough. Also, the ability to adjust the ties to loosen them enough to get my foot in with or without the bandage was simply not enough. Can't you make a option with longer laces and also the usual tie laces as an option? I am so very disappointed as I had great hope for them.
I'd also recommend:

Very nice shoe. Well made and looks like it would be comfortable but I am shopping for a lady with swollen feet and she needs XX Wide. Thank you Zappos for letting us try these shoes. Shipping is always on point and packed well.
