The overall quality of this and other Allen Edmonds products is excellent. Albeit, the sizing was uncomfortably small. Because I like the style of the shoe I will have it stretched and try to keep it. Quality wise I would recommend the shoe. Sizing is the problem for me. This may not be an issue with others, just my experience.

I love the fit and appearance of the Verona. It is the most comfortable dress shoe I've worn in a many years. However, the shoe isn't designed to last. With only moderate wear, the thin soles quickly wore through and the toes began rolling up. I would buy them in black if they were more durable.

Beautiful shoe, but for $350+, my experience has been the soles wear out too quickly. After maybe 1 year I sent them in to be recrafted and they said they were too damaged for them to repair, which was very disappointing. My cobbler will put on new soles for $66, but it's not the same.
It would be nice if there were more durable soles because it's a great style that wears nicely and is half the price of the Feragamo.

I bought a pair of these in the darker brown about 8 months ago and wish I bought a pair of the Arezzo or the Firenze. Beautiful brown leather has kept well, no wrinkling in the leather (I do keep them in shoe trees every day). Took some getting used to the narrow toe, however the Italian leather forms perfectly to the foot. Unfortunately, the sole of the shoes are terrible. Mine has developed terrible toe curl which the sole is light in color so become quickly visible. Mind you I bought these in the fall so only have been wearing them a few times a month and within 8 months I am contemplating either replacing sole or moving to a different shoe. I expected the shoe to fare well against a Gucci or Ferragamo, which it does but the sole is the sore point. Disappointed and makes the shoe look a bit cheap.

I pourchased these online after owning approx. 15 pair opf Alan Edmonds. my size is a 13 EEE. These shoes are both very shoet and narrow in this size and there is no wider size. All of my other shoes fit great

Really thin sole and the stitching is already pulling apart after 4 times of wearing them.

If you have wide feet and wear a size above 13, do not buy these shoes. I normally wear 13 3E in all of my other AE shoes and loafers. I purchased these in 14 and 13 3E after reading other reviews and being uncertain of fit. Neither fit. And note, AE will NOT exchange after 90 days, not even for a more expensive shoe. Shame that these went on sale in the winter and I figured I'd keep them because they look very nice and I could jam my foot it them. But that soon turned to discomfort.

First, the color chili on the website and the actual shoe is different. The shoe does not have a burgundy tint as shown on the website. The actual shoe is more of a brown color.
Second, the sizing has changed. I have the same shoe in black and it fit fine right out of the box. That shoe was purchased three years ago. The shoe purchased in June 2021 was too small. Same size, different fit compared to the black shoe from three years ago. The shoe last has surely changed.

These are really lovely shoes, if you have feet with no height like a duck. At my normal size I couldn't even get my foot in the shoe. I ordered a 1/2 size larger and was able to put them on but they were incredibly painful just to stand. Beware if you have any sort of instep to your foot anatomy -- these shoes won't fit.

I've worn a size 13 since middle school so every shoe I've bought since then, with 2 exceptions has been a size 13. Also have a relatively narrow foot. Loved the look of the loafer so I ordered a pair. They were so narrow from top to bottom that I physically could not get my foot into the shoe. I returned them the next day. Same thing happened to a colleague of mine.

Order a size larger. They are not "true to size."
I'm very disappointed. These are my first pair of nice loafers. They came slightly tight and I wore them thinking they'd stretch out, but it's been weeks wearing them three days a week and they're still uncomfortable. I also put shoe trees in them to stretch them when I'm not wearing them. But it hasn't worked. The sole also has worn very quickly.
Not worth the money, which to me was a lot.
I'm disappointed.

The rubber back half of the heel of this shoe came off in the first week of ownership. This is the second pair of these shoes I have purchased that have had the same issue with roughly the same amount of wear.

I purchased these shoes two months ago and wear them roughly once, maybe twice a week. These shoes are wearing WAY faster than they should, especially for the price.
Beautiful looking shoe, but wears too fast. Disappointed with AE on this one.

Bought a pair of these and a pair of Firenzes. Very comfortable shoes even though they are narrow. Beautiful too, though it took me a while to get used to the long and narrow toe box (only a size 10,, so not cuz of long foot). Unfortunately, the shoes very quickly developed toe curl (like Alladin), so much so that you can easily see the light leather soles. While I've had them for over a year, I use them rarely (average 2-3x per month) and they are ALWAYS in cedar shoes trees as soon as they come off my feet, so it isn't about overuse or poor care. Very surprised to see this in a relatively expensive shoe. Makes them look cheap. Disappointed.(Love the Firenze though)

i love the verona, wore them for 8 years..wish i bought extra so i still had some to spare....was so disappointed at how they made this new version with a cheaper looking buckle, as opposed to the clean shiny one of the original verona...
otherwise the shoe is great, but i feel it really looks cheapened by the new buckle

Initially I was extremely pleased with my purchase which was made 11 months ago. Since however, while the sole has not worn through which I could accept as normal wear and tear, it has begun to seperate from the leather of the shoe which is in otherwise great condition. Personally believe this is unacceptable for a shoe of supposed quality as I've had much cheaper shoes hold up longer. Having purchased 2 pairs over the past 12 months, I'm not sure I'd make another.

The bit on the shoes were different colors. One was silver which is what was ordered and the other a gray plastic looking color.

Quality is trash. Horsebits arent even the same finish. This is a textbook example of what happens when a private equity firm buys a company.

This review is solely based on the shoe itself. I recently bought it for a wedding and envisioned using it for work as well. I love the design and it goes well with most of my fits. My concerns is that the quality of the shoe is wildly poor which is quite disappointing given the price. It's extremely narrow and although it has a light feel, it pretty uncomfortable. After wearing it just once for the wedding, the bottom of the shoe looked like I've been using it for a year +. This may just be the case for the Verona II and not the other shoes sold, regardless, very disappointed.

I love the originals (13D), but can't wear the Verano IIs. I'm not sure why AE changed anything.
