For walking, these shoes are amazing. I LOVE and thank Topo for the wide toe box and overall anatomically correct design.
Today; I wore them on an intermediate Colorado trail, because I forgot the trail needs slightly more intense sneakers. And it highlighted problems with this sneaker and reinforced some customer complaints.
First, going downhill, there is a noticeable slip to the front. And I ordered these sneakers 1 full size up. I'm not sure what causes this? But I don't experience this in my hiking sneakers.
In addition, I never have ankle or knee pain in Hokas or most sneakers, but I'm icing my knee tonight after wearing these. Yes, they're meant for roads. So I take that into consideration. But I was surprised that my ankle, which never, ever hurts in any sneaker, bothered me in these on my run on gravel down the mountain.
On my run down on easier terrain, I also felt like all the cushioning fell away.
My verdict: these are amazing walking sneakers, the best I've worn. If you have narrow feet; you not only shouldn't be wearing these sneakers as their wide toe box is widely advertised, but you Definitely shouldn't be reviewing them. Every other sneaker on the market is designed for you!
But if you're thinking of running in there, the jury is out. I have high arches, and while they didn't start hurting, I could feel early pangs. My sense is I need to try their cushioned sneaker or go back to Hokas until Topo works out their cushion.
I'm an 8.5 in one foot and 9 in the other and the size 10 is perfect. I always order up in running sneakers.

I have large bunions and always had such a hard time finding running shoes that don't cause my toes to go numb when I wear them. These are the first pair of shoes I haven't had any problems with! Thank you so much!

Nice wide toe box, but that attaches to a "waist that is too narrow for my feet. By the time you have the laces tight enough to keep the heel from slipping up and down, the narrow waist causes pain to the outside of both feet.

Very noticeable large toe box renders this shoe visually unappealing. A lack of cushion inside made it uncomfortable just walking around the house. Color is a little darker than a retro mint green. Zappos shipped to me in a plastic bag which was ripped beyond re-use upon opening. In order to utilize my “free return”, I need to either buy a box or find something else from home. Not impressed, Zappos.

I have been wearing these sneakers for a few years now. I finally don't have toes hurting from the toe box being a little rounded and pointed. I am not thrilled with colors. Would like a solid navy or brown. Plus sandals that would have a removable foot bed would be a dream! Not everyone fits in pointy toes. Sandals are extremely hard to find. I'm sure I'm not the only one complaining about the toe box in about all other brands of sneakers. So please consider the sandals too!

I'm not sure I see much difference between the Ultrafly 3 and Ultrafly 4, which is great because the Ultrafly is, hands down, the best all-around road shoe ever. I have normal, "foot-shaped" feet, and wearing shoes with tight toeboxes gives me blisters. These shoes have a nice roomy toe box, and a very secure ankle. They even work for my low volume feet. I also overpronate and need shoes with some moderate amount of stability, so these fit the bill perfectly. I take out the sockliners and use Superfeet insoles with them, and there's plenty of room for that. Please, Topo, do not make any major changes to this line or discontinue this shoe, ever!

I love the toebox on Topos and these are no exception - they are lightweight, breathable, and comfy, a great everyday shoe. I have used them for a LOT of walking (including multiple 12 mile days on vacation) and stayed comfortable all day. I have used them for a little running, but not enough to speak to that - but I am really happy and love the way they look as well (might get a second pair ^_^).

I am a major shoe nerd. I own a lot of shoes, and I know a lot about shoes. And it has been years since I have encountered a shoe (especially a running shoe) that feels as natural on my body as the Ultrafly 4.
I tried both the 3 and the 4, and while the 3 was perfectly fine, I found the 4 to be the perfect balance of stability and flexibility that doesn't sacrifice structure. I have worn several brands of hiking and running shoes that offer a wide toebox/narrow heel silhouette, but Topo has perfected it. The breathable upper of the shoe fits my foot securely with a light but balanced, reassuring presence. The midsole provides cushion while also being responsive when I pick up the pace. I pronate a bit, and I cannot stand how so many brands have moved away from medial posting for their stability shoes. Most of these new "technologies" end up being ineffective, or even push my foot the wrong way. The Ultrafly's embedded medial post combined with a heel counter provides effective stability that keeps me from pronating without the midsole feeling like a jigsaw puzzle. I also appreciate the soft but not elastic laces (a major change from the 3) that stay securely tied without being too constricting.
Due to some health issues, I have not been able to do very much running this past year. The UltraFly 4 is my new partner as I recover and rebuild my strength.

I really want the violet/blue color, but I wear a 12 which apparently means I only deserve black or wine shoes. I like the fit but I can't get the color I want so I guess I'm not getting any. I have enough black shoes as a shameful size 12why even offer larger sizes if you aren't going to be inclusive?

I love the wide toebox but found it to be a bit shallow towards the end of the shoe. I am trying to stretch them as I write this. Hopefully they will loosen up.

I like the fit of this shoe and the toe box is nice and wide. However after 2.5 months of wearing for road running, the toe box bumper is breaking and collapsed in on both shoes. I reached out to the company and they said it wasn't a defect but normal use. In 10 years of running I have never had a shoe do this to me so unfortunately will be looking elsewhere for the next shoe.

I wear my topos everyday at work. I have always had trouble finding shoes that are comfortable for me. Most sneakers are way to tight. After wearing my topos everyday for 3 months I can confidently say these are the best shoes for my feet. And I plan on purchasing a pair of hiking topos too. Highly recommend!

I wear my Topos to work on a daily basis, alternating between the black and grey pair! I love that there is a 3 mm drop and cushion so I have some needed support but also not too much. I love that the sole is low profile which allows me not to trip over my feet. The roomy toe box is the main reason I wear them! Only feedback is these need to come in more colors! Why not? I would get a third and fourth pair if they caught up on the color market. Thanks Topos!

The toe to heal rise is noticeably different than it is in most shoes. The closest comparison that I can think of are Earth Shoes! Only time will tell if that difference helps my feet to stop hurting.

So I will start by saying that I am incredibly picky when it comes to shoes, and particularly running shoes. I returned probably 10 pairs of various brands over the past year for one issue for another. I have very wide feet, and even the wide sizes of most brands are too tight and make my toes go numb, which brought me to try Altras. Unfortunately, the zero drop did not work for me, and my already existing shin-splints got a lot worse.
Topos are the perfect combo of wide, roomy toe box, and NOT zero drop. These were the only option for support, which I need, as I over-pronate, and were basically my last option to get a pair of running shoes that would work for me before my 15k race in September. They're great. I have no idea why more shoe brands aren't giving runners the option for toe-space, since that is the way that the human foot is naturally supposed to be in order to support your body and absorb impact, but, luckily the Topos shape is perfect. I don't think I'll ever try another running shoe brand, and I'll likely be buying a second pair in a different color to rotate between.
Also excellent customer service. The 30-day test period gives runners the chance to actually run in shoes to see if they really work for them.

Great fit. Narrow through middle, which I love. Lots of toe box room. Wish they had more cushion. Feels a little like my heel dips more now and I don’t have enough lift. I was wearing brooks for years, which are very cushiony. So, I’ll just try new inserts. But, these are great shoes. Might be better for walks not runs. I don’t know yet.

I walk every day with in my Topo's- either in the neighborhood or on a trail. I rotate between 3 pairs. What I would like to see is more cushioning in the ones I use- the Ultrafly's

The first pair of topos I purchased were trail shoes but loved them so much I wanted to try the road shoes. I loved my altras but was looking for something with a little more to them and Topos gave me that extra stability.

Supposedly these are made for pronators like me. I found them excruciating. I feel like there is a bar or rock under the back of my arch. I do not have this problem with other Topo styles.
