I've been buying Echelons for years because they're the best fit for my wide feet and inserts. These new shoes are awful and nowhere near what they used to be as far as fit and style. They're completely mesh now which isn't going to work for every day use. Also, I bought wide because I wanted the blue, which fit so small. The extra wide is only available in black and fits like the Echelon 6,7,8 used to. Quite disappointed, I'm going to have to switch brands to find new shoes now.

Major Heel slippage, weird heel drop in the back . Elf shoe? For orthotics wearers who already have troubled feet or ankles? Disaster. I’m so disappointed as I have nothing to wear with my orthotics anymore

Great updated version!! I have been looking forever, for a shoe that accommodate orthotics and still cradles your foot and is not made for hobbit feet!! It is finally here.....WOW!!! i put my orthotics in this shoe and stood up and said wow. They got the updates right! it is still wide in the mid foot for me as I have a very low volume, low arched foot. But maybe now I can wear thicker socks. It is super hard to find a shoe that works with orthotics and is not over all huge. I am very happy. It feel stable but not stiff and is pretty , to boot!!
I'd also recommend:

I bought this shoe in blue this past fall. I was so very happy, I came back for the gray. I have never been so happy with a shoe. I have rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis arthritis, and "nurses feet" which means at 61 yrs old, I have no fat pad left on the bottoms of my feet. With that said, I am comfortable all day in these. Supported, yet padded. It's pure heaven. When I come home, I put keep them on until pajama time. Please don't stop making this shoe! It's a miracle!!!!

These shoes are awesome for people with normal feet. I have so many foot issues, and these shoes were too hard for my tender feet. I have had a tear in my plantar plate and I have had a first MTP fusion. I just cannot make these or most other shoes work for me!

Initially I left a good review, however I’m amending it now. I still liked the shoe but the base sweeps down in the back, almost like a negative heel shoe. That bothered my back after wearing them for a few hours inside. If the shoe had a level sole, as a neutral shoe should, I think they would be a great update. As it is, it’s questionable now.

I don't know why they changed the design on the Echelon, but the sole of these sneakers are horrible. A trip and fall hazard.

These sneakers are fantastic for folks with wide feet. I have used these with orthotics and they have been such a game changer! Great quality and comfort.

I love these shoes. I had a hip replacement and needed a good balanced shoe for my recovery. Now that I am walking a mile plus daily I have no pain anywhere in my body.

Love the wide toe.... Lots of room. Lightweight yet supportive. Sole flexible and not too bulky.

My daughter runs cross country and has had severe hip pain over the last couple of months. Once we changed shoes to the Echelon 9, she is starting to feel better. She says they are sooo cushioned (she has extremely high arches) and can even fit her orthotics underneath the shoe pad. They are beautiful...the mesh almost looks lacy. Yes, they get dirty as they should, but we just throw them in the wash and let them air dry over the weekend. GREAT shoe!!

Unfortunately, Saucony changed the Echelon model from 8 to 9, and now the 9 has a big heel. It feels awkward and unstable. Why do sneaker designers need to fix something that's not broken?

There are rare find for more neuropathy-plagued feet! The feet is perfect, with no pain to the arch or big toe, my usual areas of challenge. Yes!

They improved the back of the shoe by ankle. My shoes would always wear in that area and fall apart with the foam coming out. Not anymore!!

The Echelon 9 is perfect for my 83 year old feet with its wide toe box and soft mesh top. The light weight and broad heel base make it the ideal walking shoe for me!

These shoes saved my life! I've been wearing Asics Gel Cumulus for a decade and the toebox just gets narrower every year. I have developed capsulitis in my big toe joint and I need a bit more width and depth in my shoes-not only to stop rubbing on my swollen joint but to have enough room for inserts. Before getting these shoes I couldn't walk due to the pain-in the past month of owning these shoes I've put on more than 100 miles. I've tried both the regular and wide widths and both have plenty of room for my inserts, though I prefer the medium width. These shoes have literally saved me. I've purchased a few more since then. If these came in a Runshield option that would be the icing on the cake for this PNW lady.

These shoes are so comfortable. My feet feel like i'm walking on a cloud and the inside cushioning is so soft. The toe box is wide enough that my toes aren't scrunched. I suffer from neuropathy and I highly recommend these shoes to anyone with problem feet.

I bought these before I left for a cruise with the intention of walking a lot. They were well worth it! Very comfortable and fit well.
