It's fit is not last 3 versions. It's more narrow, the arch area is tighter, the toe box is tighter/narrow and elongated. There is less space overall inside the shoe It's disappointing. I've purchased at least 2 of the last 3 versions of this shoe and worn them each out. I don't mean they failed early - I mean I wore them every day for everything. Hiked , walked, ran, hiked mountains, swampy dog parks, garden, building projects, every season ran snow or shine, mountain biking, factory work on my feet all day, around town - they were my penultimate shoe. I would have worn them until the day I die. The previous ones were the perfect fit for me. Enough space in the toe box, roomy inside but too much, they fit like a glove out of the box and required no real break in period. This model makes my foot feel like it hangs over the sides of the sole/squished the middle and the toes (making the arch feel a bit high), and there is a strange pointy toe area with extra space. The previous versions were a true work horse of a shoe - made for everything and anything. They could take a beating and hold up. For me, the fit was thr best of any shoe I ever wore. Maybe they want to turn the shoe into some more slimmed down running shoe? I don't know why. They make other shoes to fit that purpose. The lack of space in thr current model doesn't make this a shoe for extended wear or treks as it's rather tight. It fits more like a ladies shoe. Maybe for some people this is what they want (obviously not for me). I've purchased them and I'll wear them. Maybe they will break in/loosen up (at least the fabric portion). But overall I can see it being what past models were - which was glorious.

These are a great pair of trail shoes. The gortex allows me to use them as my everyday golf shoe!

I have used Excursion TR before and was looking forward to getting a waterproof shoe. This GTX is very comfortable I have recommended it to friends Please offer different colors and half sizes Only problem I have had with the excursions is the back fabrics on the inside wears out quickly.

I've had three pairs of Saucony trail shoes (Excursion T# 13, Excursion TR15 and Excursion TR 16 GTX). They've been "best buys" with the most comfort and support I've had. I'm still wearing my first pair and waiting to take the newest pair on the road.

Have to let them break in. After that, they are perfect. Much tougher than standard Tr16.

As a transplant recipient, I've been running before transplant and now after my transplant with this style of shoe as a go to device to enable to me to challenge death and then to find a second opportunity at living. Starting in 2013/2014 I began preparing for renal transplant with this shoe attached to me like a twin brother. Although today shoe with more letters and a fancier title might seem to be a bit too much? For me it's a perfect fit, both on my foot along with enabling me to challenge each and every road, trail, situation that I find myself in. I have put more than 10,000 miles of road running and walking on the style of shoe. It fits like a glove, and pays for every bit of its price when you learn that breathing is the greatest thing that you will ever accomplish while being alive.

There are a lot of logging roads in my area, and I am very hard on my shoes. These stoutly built shoes are a perfect balance between cost and comfort, as I wear out my footwear fairly fast, and they last about as long as the more expensive models. I highly recommend them for a excellent training shoe, although they are a bit heavy for competition. PS. Day hikers, rockhounds, boaters, and anybody working out in the weather, and wanting excellent traction and dry feet should seriously consider these shoes. Great job, Saucony.

This is a great shoe. I have had at least 5 GTX shoes and they have all provided excellent water protection. I run through a lot of wet grass in the warmer weather. And these are relatively affordable.

Great to have the half sizes available for larger feet to allow comfort with thicker socks. Very comfortable. It is nice to have a style that is subdued, not black and not super florecscent.

These shoes are stable and rock solid. I didn't realize this is the GoreTex version, which makes my feet a bit too hot. Love the shoes, but not the heat (and I live in SoCal, but you might not). If it weren't so dry here these would be amazing.

The shoe is good enough for when you need a waterproof shoe, but it's quality doesn't match other Sauconys. I've been using Saucony running shoes (mainly for walking) for 25 years. I don't usually walk in the rain, but when I was traveling I had no choice, and my feet (using a different pair of Saucony running shoes) kept getting soaked - even when using an umbrella in a light drizzle. I wanted to get waterproof shoes and saw that that Saucony has this pair. I noticed that the reviews weren't stellar but decided to get them anyway. They keep my feet dry in the rain, but otherwise they do a barely good enough job for when I walk in the rain and don't want to wear boots. But I was really hoping for a pair of shoes that I can wear regularly but would also be water proof. Unfortunately, I would never wear these shoes regularly. I tried once and my feet got too hot. Also, the traction is not great - you'd think that waterproof shoes would have extra good traction on wet surfaces - but no.

I checked the heel to toe drop before I bought these and it seemed like it was going to be about right (between 8mm and 10mm is what I need). Nonetheless, these shoes seem like they have less than I anticipated. Still, I needed waterproof shoes with hiking-style tread, and these fit the bill. I am being very careful due to so many reviews that say these shoes are slippery on wet surfaces. My little toe in the right shoe ends up sore after I've worn these all day, so I'd have preferred these a bit wider. Options for people with wide fore-feet are few in waterproof trail shoes, so this is the best I found. Would I buy it again? Probably not due to the toe issue.

This particular style isn't as comfortable as the ones I have purchased in the past. Even after buying the Excursion TR16 GTX, I still like the comfort of my old ones that are over a year old.

I have recently received this shoe, and only worn them twice. It is a good fit, but I don't think I can comment on performance yet at this time. I am hoping they will work well on Maine trails this summer.

Pretty disappointed with these. Toe caps failed within the first 5 months of light use. Own several pairs of Saucony shoes, and these are the only ones I wouldn't recommend

These shoes are super comfortable, and my feet stay dry but the soles are not what I had expected. As a trail shoe they are fine on dry ground but on almost any solid surface that is the least bit wet, they slip and slide. I'm quite disappointed because every other pair of Saucony shoes I've owned has been near perfect.

Sizing is off. I order my normal size. Didn't think much of it. They are small for the sizing. Not comfortable. Wore them outside so can't send them back. My bad.

Usually great trail runners but this version is not holding up. Just went through 2 pairs that the sides have torn away from the sole. I've gone through a lot of the previous versions with no trouble. About 6 months old but I rotate about 4 pairs. Tried to add photo but it won't let me!

Bought this shoe a week ago. Have worn about 50 kms. trail and asphalt. Have been wearing a light "Feetures " sock. If I was wearing a warmer, thicker sock this shoe would not work at all. Regret buying them.
