I love the new fit design of the revised Atom hoody! Not as slim in the waist as the previous version. Medium was too small and Large was too big for me in the previous version. Medium fits just right on this revised Atom hoody. Love it!

I lost a much older version of this jacket a few years back, and decided to replace it in 2020. I noticed the sizing overall had gone up, so purchased the smallest replacement they had at that time. I've always been drawn to Arc products because of the petite sizes so was a little bummed out that they were no longer available. I came to have a look at the site a few days ago & discovered you've started making this in XXS & was thrilled, so ordered one! It's absolutely perfect!
Thank you SO much for bringing back smaller sizes! It's so appreciated from the tiny folk perspective! :)
If you guys started to make the Thorium in XXS I definitely wouldn't mind that either! Thanks Arc!
The Atom LT doesn't disappoint. It's super elegant, practical, durable, can be easily stuffed into your pack! Wonderful piece, worth the investment! :)
I'd love to add, if the collar stood up on its own a bit more that would be such a bonus!

What can I say? The atom is a classic for a reason. The LT is my favourite mid-layer for cold-weather ski-touring. Throw it over a base layer, and you've covered all the basis for a good uphill climb without getting too much of a sweat on (and synthetic warmth > down when going uphill every time). It washes and wears really well, too, which is important to me when I'm constantly abusing a jacket the way that I use this one. :)

I have found my go to layering piece. It is perfect for under a shell. Keeps me warm and comfortable while on the mountain but is also breathable.

I have been eyeing this coat for over a year, and I continued to tell myself my other coats would do, I could use a sweater etc. Most of my coats are 800+ down and have no use in the shoulder season, so finally I gave in and got the coat! I battled between black and Pipe dream and I am so happy I got Pipe!
Perfect fitting, super comfy, lightweight and just wonderful! I have gotten so many comments on it and its been great for my adventures and will be for many more!
The only comment I have is that the arms are a bit short on me so I had to stay at an XL when I could have been a Large, so the body is a tad baggy but I can use that for layering.

I literally cannot complain about this jacket. I am absolutely in love with it that I grab it every. single. time. its cold outside or windy. I live in Northern California in the Bay Area and we get cold wind from the ocean and from the Bay. When its 50-60*F, it usually feels like its in the 40s. I was debating this over the Cerium since its down insulated, but went with this as its easier to clean if it ever gets moist/wet. I like how its so light weight and how it regulates my temperature when its cold or when it starts getting warm. Around 63*F and up, I noticed I start to get warm and either have to unzip or just take it off. I kid you not when I say that I really do like it. I have thought about getting a second pair in another color (currently own the Sambal) or get the Atom LT vest...just haven't pulled the cord yet.

I have been using this as my main layering piece this winter. It is perfect for splitboarding and on hill resort riding. It is breathable but keeps me warm when needed.

I am a first time customer and it definitely won't be my last. I am 4'10" and 105 lb, and it is not very easy to find something fits me. I am surprised it is actually a very good fit, the cuff in the arm is a good feature and the jacket is so light. I haven't try it on outside weather yet, but I am sure with all the good review, it will be fine.

Arc hits the sweet-spot with this jacket: it keeps me warm, but never lets me overheat because of the two side-panels of thinnish, stretchy material. These panels seem to breathe, but of course this also means that if I wear it as an outer-layer only, I can get cold where these two side panels are.
But I use this as a mid-layer usually (under any jacket I happen to wear that day - depending on the temperature outside) and it kinda acts like a down jacket in that I never get cold, but never seem to get too hot, either. It's a really nice feature about this jacket.
I am 6"2", 220 lbs., have a 44" chest and long, lanky arms, and the size large fits me really well. The tobiko color is a little less red, and more orangish than depicted in the photo. I love the sleeping-bag-fabric feel of the interior lining - cozy.
It is a trim fit, but I can get my Rho AR zip neck under it comfortably. It is very light in weight and a lot of the time I just end up wearing it all day, except in the summer (I live in Central California).
The only thing I take issue with is that the hood has no drawcord. As such, if I keep the bottom edge of the hood opening under my chin, stretching the hood aperture a bit, then the wind is unable to blow it off my head. But if I let it cover my chin, a strong gust of wind will remove it from my head. It really needs a drawstring.
Anyway, I liked it so much, I bought one for my girlfriend in black, and she really, really likes it. I recommend this jacket, just like all the other reviewers below.
I believe you will be happy you chose this jacket.

Because she gets cold, and because I have seen her shiver when it actually feels WARM to me, I bought this Atom LT hoody mid-layer for my girlfriend. She says it seems to slip easily under her Kappa, Windstopper shell, and that she feels much warmer when she puts these two layers together. I picked size medium (in black) for the Atom because she's 5'10" and 140 lbs. She says she "really digs it" and that "black goes with everything," so I did not fail the color-choice test.
This hoody fits her long-armed, tall figure very well, and she looks pretty in it, to boot! I enjoy when she wears it because the cut of the jacket seems to flatter her narrow-waisted figure, just like the other Arc' piece I bought her earlier in the month, the Kappa Hoody, in Roseberry (size lg.), which she uses everyday for her early morning bicycle rides before she goes to teach at school.
So, I actually ended up buying her a whole Arc'Teryx layering system in the end (she did not know that layering is actually a kind of science, involving breathability and moisture management, especially when working out!). So now, she just looks at the thermometer hanging outside the bedroom window, determines how windy it is (for wind-chill purposes), and then makes an easy decision as to what she is going to wear each day as a mid-layer. Then, at 5:45 AM, she leaves for her hour long workout with the dog.
So, backtracking a bit here now, now that I had gone ahead and addressed the whole windchill issue with the new Kappa Hoody, she still said she needed more warmth. OK.
This is where the Atom LT Hoody comes in. If it is "butt-cold" she uses the Atom under the Kappa, and then tweaks the warmth slightly by using one of the two base-layers I got her - either the Phase SL zip-neck in long-sleeve, or the Phase SL crew in short-sleeves. She likes these base-layers and can not believe how "dry" she remains while working out. Honestly, I've never seen anybody so excited about being dry.
OK, so she always wears the Kappa Hoody as her go-to jacket, but then, depending on conditions outdoors, she chooses between either her Atom Lt Hoody, or her new Fortrez Hoody (in malachite, medium) as her mid-layer. And, she does the same with the base-layers I got her. She says the Atom LT keeps her really warm when she's out fighting the early AM wind-chill on her bicycle, and because it breathes really well (through the thinner, kind of stretchy side panels under the arms), she says she somehow doesn't sweat. I really smiled when I heard this.
She LOVES it, and seems really grateful and glad that her workouts don't leave her sweaty and cold (really, she used to workout in a heavy down jacket, with several cotton under-layers (just trying to somehow keep warm)). Also, I got her a pair of Phase SV leg tights, size lg., which she wears under either her yoga pants if it's warmish outside, or under the Alpha Comp pants I got her, size 8, if the conditions outside are not so good.
She likes the color of her Atom LT hoody, black, and I see her with the piece ALL the time. It seems always to be with her somehow! I think she keeps it in her purse. I'm not kidding! And again (like with her Kappa Hoody), because she has to lean way forward to ride her bike, she says the length of the arms is really good for her.
It feels weird to admit, but I actually bought her a second Kappy Hoody, again in Roseberry, because I never got to see her wearing her pretty jacket. It was always either in the wash, or out drying somewhere (she says she has to wash it after every few workouts). So now, the new Kappy is on the way, but her Atom will be with her, no matter which Kappa she wears.

This piece is always in my backpack or in my car waiting for me to put it on. It insulate great, breathe much better in underarms compare to Patagonia Nano Puff where I was wet underarms when working hard. Really recommend this piece for replacing fleece jacket.

So far so good, I wanted a lighter jacket for summer, and I do love the colour. I honestly wish this had been in the puff style for women. I feel like the men's line is usually much better with colour and variety of products.

The sizing has changed! My wife has the tiger Lilly version, size large, of the Atom jacket that is about 10 years old. We didn't think this classic jacket would change but the new size large Yukon color fits much larger. She will have to exchange it for a medium.

I love the aesthetic, weight, warmth and breathability of this jacket. It's perfect to have in my pack when I'm climbing or hiking. However, the hood cinches in the back rather than around the face so it does a horrible job keeping the wind out. This design is probably meant for ppl wearing a helmet but for everyday wear where I just need to stay warm without wearing a hat/beanie, this is a major design flaw.

Doesn't fit as well as I would like - had to go to a size from what fits my body for the sleeves and jacket not to be too short (5'8", 145ish). Otherwise good jacket. Wish they had a light coloured jacket that was a standard neutral colour like the men's.

I love this Atom Hoody. I still use my old black one that is over 10 years old but wanted a new one too. Got it in the sale. Only slight issue is that the sizing has changed and I bought a Small and would have preferred and XS. I compared it to my older Atom Hoody and the arms are the same size but the body of the new one is about an inch longer and probably more than that wider in the body. I could not change sizes due to stock and I love the bright yellow 'Sprint' colour. It can be adjusted at the bottom and the hood is adjustable, which my oolder one isn't so that is a bonus. Also it comes up further than my old one to protect my face which is great to put on after a cold xc race. Love the jacket, just seems Arcteryx has made their sizes bigger.

While water repellent it is also snow repellent it seems. Light snow however. Eventually the atom does begin to look wet - this can take up to 20 minutes. Wouldn't recommend for a standalone outer layer but is an excellent mid layer. Inside pocket helps. Kyanite hoody, atom and beta lt all work well together. Plenty of pockets and keeps you warm and dry. 220 is quite an investment however, you can get fully waterproof products for that price. But you're paying for a superior mid layer/emergency outer layer if you're caught out or if you're putting out the bins.

The usual superb quality arcteryx is known for - lightweight, breathable, JUST the right level of insulation jacket. With some notable improvements over the older version. Sleeves now have a new cuff around the wrist which is very good, logo is stitched on not printed, fleece material on the sides has more stretch making it a tighter fit then the previous iterations. Size wise it's less straight forward then before, I bought L (which I buy for all arcteryx products) but it's tighter then I expected; still fits well, but wearing a heavy sweater underneath is now less comfy. So why no 5 star? That would be the zipper, despite the fancy zipper pulls, the zipper appears to be of lesser quality then before not 'zipping' up as smoothly, it feels like there is some friction, only time will tell how it stand up to the test of heavy wearing - for the rest, it's a straight five star piece of gear - as per the usual!

I bought this 1 week ago for my girlfriend. She is 163cm tall and 57kg weight, and the M size is perfect, a little larger but for a winter cover is fine.

Personally i would like to have a stuffsack pocket and the fabric of the "Squamish windshell" instead of the fleece inserts.

It's a great jacket. I did end up returning it and buying a larger size elsewhere- so the fitted sizing is truth! I'm typically a large and the large fit fine, but I run cold and wanted more room for layers, so went with the XL

I followed the size chart exactly and purchased a M. While it fits very comfortably, I would call this a very relaxed fit. It feels quite baggy to me and I preferred last year's closer fit better. This year, I like the longer torso and the looser armpits. I would like a slightly shorter sleeve and more fitted torso.
I did not like the fit for many years prior when it was very short in the torso and tight in the armpits. I am 5'5" and 135 lbs with a longer torso.
I also purchased a M shirt using the same new size chart and also find it a bit baggy. I traditionally wear S and wonder if I would like that sizing better, but according to the chart I would not fit it.

I really love the Atom jacket. It is the perfect 3-season outer layer and a great winter mid-layer. Absolutely love the labyrinth colour, an awesome alternative to black or navy. The only reason I couldn't rate it 5 stars is that the front zip is definitely not "no-slip". It's not a big deal, but the front zipper does unfortunately undo when lightly pulled apart or with certain movements if not done up all the way.
Still very impressed and because this is my first Arc'teryx piece I can't wait to see how it holds up against the test of time.
