About 250 miles on mine and sidewalls are ripped open on the medial side of each shoe. I'll keep wearing it until I can't. Judging by these reviews I'm sure Altra will redesign the uppers for the second version.

I wear essentially only Altras, and have been pleased with company for about a year now. I have a pair of Lone Peaks, Olympus, Paradigm, Torins and Provisions, all size 14, and all great. I have a narrow foot in general so was hoping this would be a little more of a snug fit for some trail runs. They are comfortable, but size way too short. They feel like size 13s. Even checked to see if it was the right size... and it was. Really surprising. I'd imagine a size 15 would work for me, but I'll just return these and re-evaluate. If you have a shop that carries your size, I'd recommend trying these on in person rather than just ordering them. If it were the right size, I think these would be great.

The feeling was great for the first 100 miles in terms of fit, running feeling, and grip on the trails (nothing too technical). I was even pleasantly surprised as I usually need a while to adapt to new shoes, but those felt great right from the bat.
However, I could feel it slightly deteriorating on the road, which was not entirely unexpected, if I'm being honest. The feeling on trails (softer ground) was still really good, but the road felt harder and harder pretty fast. While they advertise the shoe as being for both road and trail, I wouldn't use it as a road shoe past 100 / 200 miles.
However, after a 50M with 11000 feet of elevation, the side mesh completely tore on the side of the shoes (cf. picture). The thing is, the Outroad still feels very good on the trails after around 350 miles. I am going to get a specific pair for the road but were it not for the mesh durability, I would probably run in the Outroad on the trails for a while.

I absolutely enjoy running in these shoes. The added cushion & dual purpose made it an everyday runner. However just like the Timp, a hole developed on the inner wall in less than 200 miles.

I've owned 4 pairs of Altras, previously Lone Peaks, whic have served me wll. The sizing has always been uneven it seems, this shoe is no exception, I wear a 12 in almost every other brand, needed a 13 here. That sad the shoe fits and feels great. Like many other reviewers mine almsot instantly developed audible and tangible friiction and squeaking, to the point where wearing them is not comfortable. I replaced the insoles, powderes, etc. but the issue appears to be the foam that is the top of the midsole? Despite the fit and styling, which are great, I must give these a low rating since I do not wear them due to the friction/squeaking due to the midsole foam.

These shoes started breaking down after a little over 150 miles of mixed-use trail and road running. This is the 3rd pair of Altra's that have done this. Stay away!

These were 1/2 size too small with running socks. I have several pairs of Altras all in size 10.5 and they fit perfect; Torin 6, Timp 3 & 4, Loan Peak 6 & 7. Order 1/2 size up.

Had these about 8 months, took them on a muddy trail run and they fell apart. I'm sure that I abused them a bit more than intended but I've come to expect better from Altra.

Was midway throuhg the Gorge 100k and had the righside upper blow a hole just above the midsole at mile 30 of the race. Nearly ended my race, spared by an extra pair of shoes from the car.

I buy a half size up with altras and have always loved my lone peaks. I guide in the summer in Southwest Colorado and they've severed me well and held up to the wear and tear I put them through. I thought the Outroads would have made a comfortable shoe while teaching The strap/loop design for the the laces on the top third of the shoe is poorly designed. The stitch came out above the hole it's threaded through and the stitching began to wear through where the loop is sealed together. The material was showing signs of wear after two weeks around my big toe and it was obvious they were going to break through the material after minimal stress and wear the LPs endured while hiking in the desert and up in the Shark Tooth range. I returned them and got the LP Alpines and am much happier and confident that design will last.

I am usally a size 11 in Altras (Superior, Solstice, Rivera, and Escalante 2.5) but had to get the Outroad in a 12. Durability hasn't been an issue with my previous Altras, but I do feel their cushioning wears out a little too early and then the shoes gets uncomfortable.
Out of the box, the Outroad fits the best and has been the most comfortable when running. But I only got about 1.5 months of usage (10 runs / 50 miles) before the outsole on the left pair started to peel off. The upper construction of the shoe was fine but I probably didn't log enough miles for wear and tear to take place. In the end I returned the Outroad and picked up a pair of Hoka Challenger 7. The cushioning of the Challenger is not as squishy compared to the Outroad, which I prefer, but the toe box might be an issue going forward.
I might try the Outroad again, if the Hoka doesn't work, but Altra needs to fix their durability issues. And it would be nice if they worked on their cushion formula to last a little longer.

Done with Altra. Very poor quality for the uppers had to replace 2 pairs of the Lone Peak due to sides blowing out after 150ish miles.

The bad: Like other reviewers, upper material durability is poor. Mine showed wear at 100mi and at 150 there are holes at the forefoot flex point. They are still functional, but this is really low mileage for this sort of wear.
The good: Very comfortable. They live up to the claim of being a hybrid shoe. I have ran terrain from road to rugged trail in these and they worked in all conditions. On the road you don't feel the lugs and they provide decent grip on mountain trails. They stay comfortable for ultra distances as well.
ALTRA: Improve the upper quality on these shoes and you will win over countless runners! 100-150miles to get holes in the upper is absolutely pathetic.

Side of shoe has blown out and we're hardly 125 miles in. They look and feel fantastic but they're not good for trail running as the quality of material is sub par.

Did not listen to reviews and tried this shoe. Very narrow and tight from mid foot to heel. Hard to tell about toe box as the shoe was too small to try and even walk around the house.
I am a believer in Altra shoes but this style did not follow the previous experiences I have had.

I took a brand new pair of these on vacation and after about 8 days (did not wear everyday) the right shoe developed a squeak that I cannot get rid of. Tried everything including Vaseline on the sole, foot powder under the insole, and more. I will be returning these and likely not purchasing Altra again. As a long time customer this is very disappointing.

My first impression of the shoes was very good.
The Altra's unique comfort and toe box won't last long.
After about 1-2 weeks, the shoes started making noise, like baby shoes.
There is a problem with durability i guess.
Please make the shoes stronger as you guys used to do it

I really like the shoe, the fit and combination of road and trail runnability. BUT, it doesn't last. You can see the other reviews (minus those written after just one run;). At not even 150 miles mine are destroyed. I am not heavy nor fast and those shoes were not abused in any way (mainly road and limestone). Both sides of both shoes are ripped and the soles are still almost perfect, Altra says this is "normal", for their shoes maybe, which makes them too expensive for me :(even with 15% coupon, other shoes last 300-500 miles).

Seeing a pattern in the reviews here my Outroads made it 145 miles before splitting on the sides. I contacted Altra customer support and they deemed this "wear and tear". This is definitely not wear and tear- no shoe should fall apart from wear and tear after 145 miles. That's like a month's worth of running!
After issues with the last couple of versions of Timps and now this I'm done with Altra. The lack of durability on Altra shoes is truly unreasonable.

I'm not a very heavy person, weighing about 125 pounds, and I have used these only for running. Most of my running has been on dirt, which would wear down the midsole at a slower rate tan pavement or asphalt. I've put fewer than 50 miles on these and I can already feel every rock and root I step on. The outsole is in near-perfect condition, but the midsole has already broken down and no longer supports or cushions my foot as it should. This is pathetically disappointing. I sell Altra shoes at a small retailer that focuses on quality shoes and fittings, but will no longer recommend them in good conscience, as I want my customers to have a good experience in shoes that are good for their feet and last.
