Torin 6: Nice shoe but a section of the rubber sole on both shoes started peeling off within 3 weeks. I used this maybe 5 times and only ran in them twice for 1.5 miles each time. I tried to exchange them at Runners HI in Aiea, but they have a 14 day return policy.

I have worn the Torin 4 for several years very comfortably. I wanted to replace them with the Torin 5 several months ago. They redesigned the tongue to have a large sharp tongue which digs into the instep making it very uncomfortable and unwearable for me. I returned it and was told the Torin 6 was coming out soon and would address this frequently criticized design flaw. The new Torin 6 would have been an excellent choice but the problem is far from solved. Do any of the designers actually wear these shoes? The Torin 6s are going back unused and unliked. There is no reason for this ridiculous design and it ruins an otherwise wonderful shoe. Come on Torin, listen to your customers!

I wish Altra would stop radically changing this shoe. I’ve been wearing Torins since the originals came out nearly 8 years ago, but these last two generations are a completely different shoe. The Torin 6 is much better than the 5.5’s were, but the new heel is weird. I have done a 10 mile outdoor run and a 19 mile treadmill run on these since I got them last week. I am underwhelmed and disappointed. I find myself wanting to wear my Escalantes more than the Torins lately. I liked how the Torins had more padding, but it just feels like a totally different shoe from a totally different brand. I’ve spent over $2,000 on these Torin shoes over the last several years with how many miles I put on them, but its really disheartening to see the Altra brand lose its way from its original roots. The toe boxes are alarmingly narrow and this shoe gave me black toe nails for the first time in 3 or 4 years.
Altra has been making me feel alienated lately as a customer. I talked to their company rep at the last Marathon Expo I was at in Denver, but I feel like all my concerns fell on deaf ears. These shoes are too expensive to feel “meh” about. I’ll keep this pair, but will likely be the last Torins I ever buy.

Like the Rivera I tried before this, I've found the Standard foot shape just doesn't fit me well. While I do find the width to be decent, it just runs too short and causes me toe pain. As I wear a size 13, there's not half size to bump up to. They also tend to cut into my heel after a decent long run, so this is a double negative for me. On the plus side, the padding is great, the shoes are really light, and the tongue is much better than the 5's. As the Escalante update seems to be better suited to longer runs, so that's where my feet are headed.

Tongue is improved from unusable Torin 5. But it is still too stiff, not wearing a cut in front ankle but it's irritating. Please put the soft Torin 4.5 tongue on this shoe for the next version and you will have a hit!

I have two pairs of Torin 5's (gray Luxe, and Majolica blue), 10 pairs in past 3 years. The Torin 5's are my favorite sneaker of all time (I don't run so the tongue thing doesn't affect me). I couldn't wait for the June launch of the Torin 6's, was going to get 1-2 pairs on opening day...then I saw the styles/colors. I'm not quite at a loss for words so I'll just say these are the worst color schemes/styles I've ever seen Altra put out. I wouldn't wear one of these in public if they gave me a free pair plus a daily rate. What do I think looks cool? The 5's gray, orange, blue, light gray, most of the Lone Peaks, and the Escalante Racer marathon city editions (Please bring those back). I hope they put out additional choices later in the year.

I have the Torin 4.5 plush, Escalante Racers, Lone Peak 5s, and now the Torin 6. Not going to lie, this is a great shoe, but the trim has narrowed quite a bit from the 4.5. My foot is wide and flat, so I think that I'll try the Torin 5 wides, Olympus, and Lone Peak series. I'd definitely recommend the product to anyone with more narrow feet, but if you need a wider shoe the Torin line doesn't look like it's going to accommodate you anymore.

The positives:
- The tongue issue seems fixed!
- The midsole feels like it would provide a very comfortable run. It's cushy and bouncy.
- The upper feels really nice. It's very soft, and seems like it will breathe well.
- I thought I might not like the different-looking heel, but it's quite comfortable and seems well designed.
- It looks great! It does feel like the upper won't hold its shape, but to me, this shoe is better-looking in person than in the pictures.
The negative (only one, but it's a dealbreaker for me):
- It's way too narrow in the toe box for me to consider wearing for a run. It also seems to run a bit small across the board.
For anyone looking for a traditionally shaped shoe, I would recommend getting the Torin 6 in a size larger than your regular size. For anyone looking for a foot-shaped shoe, I would recommend holding on to your old Altras as long as you possibly can, or switching to Topo, which is getting wider as Altra gets narrower.
Fit advice: I'll reference all the shoes I can in an attempt to make this useful to someone. I got the Torin 6 in a size 7. It's significantly shorter and tighter across the whole shoe (not just the toe box) than 7s in Escalante Racer, Escalante 2.5 and 3.0, Torin 4 and 4.5, and all the recent Superiors (4, 4.5, and 5). It's also shorter and tighter than the Altra Lone Peak 6 in a women's 8 and the Topo Magnifly 4 in a women's 8.5. It's not shorter than the Lems Primal 2 in size 6, but it is tighter. It is longer and less tight than the Altra Youth Lone Peak in size 6. It fits similarly to the old (2019) Solstice in a women's 8, most soccer cleats in a boy's 6-6.5, and most dress shoes in a women's 7.5 wide.

Great shoes. Super responsive, but it a little to narrow for wide feet. Tried to use for a long run in a flatish gravel trail and my feet didnt like it that much because on how narrow the width is. Ended up getting a little blister(first time getting a blister in my 5years of running.)

The shoes fits right and is responsive, the only issue I had it with it is it got too hot in my feet. By the end of the 4 miles run my feet were burning.

I have the wides because Altra doesn't make these in the original foot shape. The soles of the shoes feel like flat tires after about 175 miles - and I have yet to have a pair make it past 250 miles without the fabric ripping where it meets the sole.

This is my 6th pair of Torins..and likely my last. I dont understand companies obsession with "improving" great shoes. Cheap tongue cuts into ankle, heal support rubs ankle. Flimsy and uncomfortable, they changed everything that was good about the original

I haven't even worn the shoe yet and when unboxing them the stitching was already torn apart. There's multiple comments concerning the shoes durability or lack there of and it shows from the start.

The reason Altra get a '2' rating is because the different mode shoes they have, have varying sizes. I have emailed them this after buying another pair of Altra's, though a different model to the first, and they are different sizing. They confirmed this in the email that they are aware of this, and they have not done anything to let buyers know. So beware buying different models online. If you get the right size though, good runner.

Are all of Altra's products this poor quality. I've never had a sneaker where the tread had started to detach within a week of wearing, and have the mesh material tear at the ball of my on both sides of each shoe. After 3-4 weeks of wearing I threw them back in the box, and almost forgot about them. I've been working extra shifts at the hospital and needed a break from my Vivo Bearfoot. Pulled these out again, to get upset about the quality of construction again. They've been comfy, and provided the extra cushion I needed, but the quality of the show is poor. There's a wrinkle at the top right corner of the shoe that never evened out after wearing. I assumed it was there because of packaging and shipping, but must be due to some mistake during manufacturing.

First of all, I own a few pairs of Altras and love them. This one is no different. The look and feel makes it one of my favorites. But the durability of this shoe left me disappointed. The inside part of the shoe is ripping from the top and bottom half. I've barely had these for a few months and honestly haven't even worn them on longer runs.
It's too bad because I love the way they look and feel on my feet.

Got the same delamination issue as many others. Seems to be a problem across a few different shoe lines as well. Rubber started coming unglued from the sole near the toebox area on both shoes after 3-4 months of moderate use. Hoping Altra fixed this issue on newer models as their rebate policy is store credit for another pair...

This is my second pair of Torin 6s in the past 6 months. I must admit that I really liked the fit and profile of these shoes, and with the tongue fixed from the Torin 5, I thought at first Altra had finally gotten these right. However, as I've noticed with the 5 pairs of Altras I've owned in the past several years, the sole construction is simply sub par. My first pair of Torin 6s I started using in February/March 2023, and within a week I'd noticed some separation between the outer tread under the toes on both shoes. However, this first pair's sole held up fairly well since then, and although the tread wore off unusually quickly and far faster than other brands I've purchased, I decided to purchase another pair simply because I like the feel and fit.
But within a week, this second pair started to separate even at the treads in the middle of the foot, which is exactly where it should be strongest, in addition to the same spot under the pinkie toes. I would love to think this has been fixed in the Torin 7s, but unfortunately a design choice was made to make the soles much thicker and change the profile of the shoe for the Torin 7s, a direction that does not meet my needs for lower profile running shoes which the Torins previously met so well. It's also upsetting that such an expensive pair of running shoes--which are meant to be an investment--would simply fall apart with so little wear.
The photos are from less than two months after purchasing this second pair with less than 10 runs (all under 2 miles) on them. I've opted to wear other shoes most of the time because I've noticed these can handle so little. You can see that there is very little wear on the tread of the shoe but still a great amount of separation. I'm giving the shoe 2 stars because I did like the first pair I bought (though not it's durability), but this second pair has been a huge disappointment.
To Altra, please ensure better durability on future models and please maintain some of these low and medium profile shoes with more minimal or less exaggerated soles! Putting an inch and a half of foam under the foot on all these new models goes against what Altra initially stood for and pushes away OG users who came to Altra exactly to find a wide, zero drop, and relatively low profile shoe in between totally barefoot and something much thicker like the majority of your products now.

I've had countless pairs and run several marathons in Torins and have noticed the quality really decline over the years. Current pair has >250 miles and are falling apart. Sad that this brand, to whom many of us have been loyal, is cutting corners and compromising quality.

At first take I really loved the fit of these shoes. I'm former military and got a lot of recommendations about altras. I wanted a New work shoe where I mainly walk but need a good road shoe that will hold up. Unfortunately after only two days at work in the Florida heat the sole stared to come up. I'm very disappointed that after only a few days of very light use I have to glue the shoe. Hopefully my lone peaks meant for trails hold up better.

The shoes feel great when running. I'm very disappointed in the quality of the upper material. Less than 30 miles on them and both shoes have started tearing apart. Maybe other models last longer.

Fit was small, I normally wear an 11 1/2 and this was a 12 but just a little short. Felt too tight from the arch forward. Otherwise I liked the show but I would need a wide size.

I am a huge Altra evangelist. I have literally eight pairs of different models in my closet. I love the mineral blue color way of these Torin 6. However, I must say I have the first negative thing to say about an Altra shoe. The thinner material on each side of the tongue gets folded over when sliding in your foot. You have to unlace them them a lot to be very deliberate and careful sliding in your foot so that the tongue lays flat. Somewhere I saw another review talking about the same design flaw, so I know I'm not the only one with this issue. There's also a piece of fabric on the inside of the upper (basically on the outer side of the mid-foot) that isn't fully sewn or tacked down in any way to the main upper material. It also a bit stretchy and loose to where it kind of bunches up quite often and creates an issue. Once you manage to get them put on without any fabric bunched up down in there with the tongue or on the side, they're great though for the actual run.
