I own a pair of Torin 4's. These are without a doubt the best running shoes I've ever owned. They were comfortable from the very first run. The toe box is spacious, the lacing arrangement ensures a tight, comfortable fit and the tongue is well.... invisible to my feet. When it came to replacing them I looked to the 5's but the tongue design was so horrendous that I held onto my 4's until the 6 (hopefully) resolved the issues. Well unfortunately they didn't. The first problem is that Altra made the toe box smaller. So much so, that both my big and little toes are uncomfortably squished (see side by side image). The toe space in the 5 actually feel similar to wider, more traditionally shaped running shoes. The tongue design has been updated (vs. the 5) but instead of reverting to the soft and spongy tongue of before, they retained the vinyl style from the 5, and just trimmed it to try and resolve the cutting problem. Unfortunately the new shape doesn't change how thin the vinyl is, meaning the tongue still finds the crease between the front of your ankle and your leg, and then rides into it, causing quite a bit of discomfort and chafing. They did narrow up the heel section, which I think is a positive. Overall I am disappointed with these shoes - Altra knew the tongue in the 5 was a problem and could have completely resolved it with the 6, but instead decided to buckle down and stay with the thin, sharp, vinyl design.

I have put over 100 miles in the Torin 6, and I really want to like the shoe, but the 6 even with excellent cushioning and a now very good heel lock has three problems still after the 4.5 which was really a solid long trainer. The 5 had the sharp tongue, which left me one and done, and I bought the remaining 4.5s that I could find. The six has excellent cushioning and good durability but not great. The 3 problems with the 6 remain with the tongue which is softer but still too long and not notches or grooves in the middle lik the 4.5 (see first pic) to not be annoying on the top of the foot arch angle into the front of the leg. I also have found it slightly narrower than the 4.5 making blisters between toes a concern. The third problem in the interior of the shoe are the "straps" that hold the laces (Altra can you explain the thinking of this), and these extra interior straps are annoying and noticeable during runs and just an unnecessary distraction and discomfort--not sure why these were used instead of a gussetted tongue or placed outside the inner liner (see second pic). I really like the Torin 4.5 and may get another 6, but I have ordered the Topo zero drop which does not appear to have these three discomforts. It seems like since the 4.5s, someone from another shoe company is sabotaging an otherwise excellent shoe which I use to be able to slip on and run and run and run.

I've been using Torins since version 2.0. Loved them until the 5. The new upper is tight and squeezes the foot. I had a hole on the tow with under 100mi. The 6 is no better. Very uncomfortable.

Roomy toe box is great. Tongues too short. Can't use top lace hole.

They fixed the tongue but not sure why it's not padded. However with a side by side comparison with a 5 the shoe definitely feels more narrow. Would love to have the 5 with a new tongue!

My left big toe poked a hole through the top mesh. To be fair, I filed a warranty claim about five months after the one year warranty. It was denied. But in my opinion, the fabric is too cheap for such a vulnerable area.I will be inspecting the top of every shoe before I purchase another pair of Altra's.

I've worn Torrin for years and they keep getting worse and worse. These are narrow and feel like you are walking on concrete.

Too narrow, Altra needs to make a road shoe with original foot shape. These feel narrow and not unlike the wider widths Altra is know for. Again, Altra, please make a road shoe in original foot shape last and manufacture more shoes in wide widths, please. Too narrow.

Very disappointed that these are as narrow as they are. I just don’t understand why Altra, who pride themselves on making shoes with a wide toebox, don’t offer more shoes in the wider option. These are the ‘original’ style which are not large enough unfortunately. Not sure if these are redesigned from the 5, but they are not large enough or just run small and the tongue is not very comfortable at all. I think the Paradigm offers way more for an extra $10. I’ve returned them promptly.

I'm so sorry to have to say this but the T6s do not feel like traditional Altra footshape shoes. The M (regulars) are too narrow in the forefoot, the W (wide) feel like flappy clown shoes I'd be nervous to run in. Both are going back. They are just not like the 9 pairs of Altra road shoes, tail shoes, hikers and casual shoes I've bought and loved in the past. These even look different: the forefoot is narrow and not rounded at the toe. I t's subtle but I can even see it placing the T6s side by side to my T5s. Perhaps they should have labeled them as their new narrow foot shape.

Been wearing Torins since the 2.0 in 2016 The 5s have been my favorite, so I have been really looking forward to the 6s. Tried them on in my local running store today and found the forefoot too narrow and restrictive. Very disappointed.

The two complaints I had about the Torin 5 were the tongue biting into your leg, and the rubber on the bottom of the shoe losing adhesion quickly. The tongue feels much better now, but I got through not even 30 miles running with these and the rubber pads on the bottom are already starting to peel away. The width may be slightly smaller than the previous Torin 5, but seems acceptable still. I wish they never obsoleted the Torin 4.5, the series has not hit the mark in these past iterations and customer service has not mentioned any plan to fix the issues.

These are honestly terrible shoes. Ive bought many pairs of altras throughout the years but these have put me off quite a bit. Despite people's concerns about the torin 5s, they were very decent shoes with good flexibility, shock absorption, and plenty of room in the toe box. These shoes however really missed the mark. They are supposed to be "standard footshape" but that's absolutely not trueyou can compare with the insoles of previous standard footshape shoes and they are much smaller. You can also feel this with the crowding of your smaller toes. The midsole is also supposedly the sameabsolutely not true eitherthey used a completely different foam and you can really feel it when you run. The sole is stiff and inflexible2 more things people typically go to altras for. I've put a few hundred km on these and I seriously hoped they would break in and they haven't. It's like running with 2x4s on your feet. I have to ask: what is seriously the point in buying altras anymore? They're narrow, stiff, and densenothing in line with everything they say about foot health and a "natural feel".

I got the Torin 6, as I was told it is the road equivalent of the Lone Peak. However, even with the wide, it is still too narrow. Please make it as wide as the Lone Peak.

The only complaint I had about the Torin 5 was the tongue. The Torin 6 is visibly narrower than the Torin 5. I also found that the sizing was inconsistent even from the left and right shoe, as well as between different colors as other people said. The wide shoes just offer more volume, not a wider shoe. I cried because the Torin 5 was the only shoe that fit my wide forefoot but narrow ankles. I bought 5 Torin 5s and clip the tongue so I can just have something to wear. I wish they'd make the lone peak into a road shoe- that would be perfect. I have enough shoes for now, but hope another version comes out before I run out of 5s.

Each new revision breaks what was great with these shoes. Inconsistent sizing has become an issue. Same size and some are narrow others wider. Order three pair different colors. Each fit different. I cannot explain how horrible the tongue is in this shoe. Absolutely the most painful design that could have been chosen. The tongue is fine if you wear higher sock otherwise it slices at the front of your legs. I have loved these shoes and wear them until they literally fall apart. But have begun a search for a shoe company that isn't ruining heir product. Please stop trying to solve problems that don't exist. Leave what works alone. Change the color not the design. The design, comfort and feel got you here. Stop messing it up!! I'm aware this will be ignored but hoping it resonates with someone and snaps them back to reality.

The foam underneath seems awesome and it's nice the tongue of the shoe doesn't tear as much into me as the last one. The shoe is crazy narrow. It's a shame Altra doesn't have enough sense to make a single road show with an OG footshape.

Extremely disappointed in the update. They updated the tongue (greatly needed and appreciated). BUT the foot shape fit is off. This is more narrow than most traditional trainers. Not sure if it's just a bad batch or this is what Altra is aiming for. End of the day, try sizing up a full size. I'm usually in between 10.5 and 11 size. Ordered both and the 11 was a full size too small. Hard pass going forward.

I just want to say who ever is in charge of design fire them and bring back the original guys. This company has lost the spirit of why this company flourished. Wide toe box, zero drop. Not narrow footbed with a knit top. With rocker toes! I have been with this company since the first Torin! Now I am currently looking for other options. GL with satisfing the masses

It is nice to have a pair of running shoes that feel great and help my feet get stronger. My Torin 6s have become my most reliable running shoes. I use these for everything from 5 miles to half marathons!

Upping my mileage to start marathon training, this shoe took me surprisingly far and filled multiple roles. It felt very comfortable until I started pushing the pace to something lighter racing shoes would be better for. Enough comfort for anything from walks to a marathon, and light enough for some decently fast running. The tongue is great as long as it doesn't flip over on the sides. The logos tend to come off after a lot of use but everything else on the shoe has pretty good durability. Even did about 30 miles of trail running (not all at once) and no issues, although I wouldn't recommend much trail running in these.

I try all brands, but these are the truth. Even my parents who are older are moving around much better and have stated their back pain and other issues have improved. I've bought 6 pairs since.
