This was my first pair of Altra shoes and they were very comfortable out of the box. I wish that was my happy ending. I wore them for walks in the neighborhood and around the house as I worked on healing severe plantar fasciitis. Loved the cushion and the zero drop. However, the rubber toe started peeling away within a few days. I almost contacted Altra then, but figured what I noticed was so minimal and that what I paid for these shoes meant it would not become a problem. It continued to peel away and is now a major eyesore. I contacted Altra through the warranty after just three months of light wear. Not only did they not get back to me without a second contact after more than a week, they insisted it was normal wear and tearnot a defectand would not replace or give any sort of credit. I have owned a lot of popular brand sneakers that cost far less and have worn them similarly for a longer period and NEVER experienced such an issue. I love the zero drop that Altra features but they don't stand behind their workmanship and I can't afford to buy $170+ shoes every three months. I will not buy Altra again.

As other reviewers note, these shoes are comfy and stable. I've had trouble with rockered soles in the past, but the cutaway under the toes here does not cause twisting or accentuate pronation; in fact, it feels like in these shoes I'm getting a straighter stride. I suppose it's a good thing (?) for my joints, then, that the colors do not show accurately on the web, as I would have been scared away by the blinding day-glow orange that is here described as "coral". Honestly, to me, it's an appalling color, especially when paired with stark nurse-white, and makes the shoes downright ugly. Almost returned for the yellow/grey, but a close look at those photos makes me suspect that the yellow is neon... so, what the heck, I'll put on my shades and enjoy how these puppies FEEL! Altra, some subdued shades for these racy runners? [Narrow feet, usually 7.5 / 38 or 39; ordered 8 and that's the right size.]

I was looking for a running shoe to replace my Torin plush. These are amazing. Worth every penny. My foot is held secure and I love the cushioning. There rocker shape is great at getting my momentum going!! I have truly loved how my foot feels after wearing these for a long day on my feet or a long run.. loove that they shortened the shoe laces. Thanks for listening. The only thing I wish they made was a black vortex I'm afraid these white ones will get dirty quickly. But I own a washing machine and I intend to use it. Ha... seriously buy these shoes if your feet are old like mine or you just enjoy a comfy shoe..I usually wear a 9.5 wide sneaker..I bought a 10 and they fit great. There is enough width in the toe box yet the shoe fits well thru the rest of my foot.

I cannot recommend these shoes enough! They are absolutely perfect! They have the perfect amount of cushion combined with spring to give you amazing responsiveness, they feel as close to a carbon plated shoe as you can get without the carbon plate. I would run in them everyday, but I like to keep myself grounded and run on Provisions every day and save there for speed work and hill work days so I get an extra kick during hard workouts and then race in the Vanish Carbon. I cannot recommend this shoe enough!!! For me I had to size up half a size because my second toe is a little longer then my big toes and it was hitting the end of the shoes. But a half size up and they fit like a dream!

The best Altra running shoe I've bought. I normally wake with for pain so bad that I can't walk. Well after wearing these shoes for a whole day my feet are almost pain free.

Okay so I Love these shoes!! They are lightweight with great ventilation. I have normal width feet, and sometimes honestly I feel like the Olympus pairs are a little too wide for me but I still really like them. These shoes are tight like everyone is saying but not too tight? It's basically like a normal shoe but since everyone's used to the wider average size of this brand these feel skinny. Once you wear them once they stretch out and cause no issues. As long as your feet are normal width and don't require a wide shoe they are awesome!

I bought these for my fiance who is an avid runner and has completed 5 marathons and a Tri. She has been a Brooks and Asics runner for a very long time. He is now converted to ultra and will never run with anything else on her feet. I've converted to Altra a few years ago and wanted to share the goodness

Not sure what the negative reviews are about but I have nothing bad to report. I only have about 50 miles on these right now, but I love them. Very comfortable pavement runner. I'm no professional but I've run numerous half marathons but only 3 full marathons so I'm not a show guru. That being said, I am buying these again. Thumbs up from me.

These are great for training runs, especially if you're planning on using Altra Vanish Carbon for racing. The fit is practically the same, but without the added propulsion and responsiveness from the lack of carbon plate. The only negative I have is the choice of shoes laces - they're made of a slick material that keeps getting undone in the middle of my runs. Thankfully they can be replaced easily.

This is my new favorite shoe for long distance runs - they took me through the end of my first full distance iron man and offered the speed and support I needed to get to the finish line

I love running in the Altra Vanish Tempo! It's responsive and I feel like every step springs me forward. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. I do wish it came in standard though.

This shoe is fast! I'm not the fastest runner, but I'm training to get there. I have noticed an improvement in my faster workouts. They feel fast and my numbers tell me they are fast! I don't want to invest in carbon plates, so these are perfect. I'm also finding that the slim foot shape is perfect for my foot; esp for racing and on the trail side of things. I hope to see more models with the slim fit in the future!

I've been alternating my Escalantes and Torins for years, they are my two tried and true. I wanted to spice up the routine a little, so thought I'd give these a try. I'm a middle of the pack runner, and so far, carbon plates do feel all that important to me, but I was curious about how these would be. They did feel so luxurious to run in! The high cushion, light weight and that tilt forward made for a very fun running experience. These are definitely going into the rotation.

I've had these for a few weeks now and after several speed workouts in them.I LOVE THEM. So much so that I decided to try them on my 16-miler today. And they totally performed! Just enough cushion for a long run, but light and springy enough for intervals. They're basically Altra's carbon shoe, but without the carbon. Also, they've held up really well! Very minimal wear on the tread, which I know was a complaint with the carbon version. I'd dare say these could be a marathon worthy shoe. I'm not going to get as many miles out of them as my regular trainers, and they are a little more pricey, but my feet and legs are super happy. Great job Altra!

I love this shoe! On my first run out of the box, I felt like I was being lurched forward. The shoe feels springy and makes me feel fast. I had to order a half size up than I normally wear in Altra's. The fit would be comparable to the Riveras. I would love to see this shoe in more colors in the future!

I raced the US Beer Mile Championships in these and ran one of the fastest women's times ever! Feels like they spring you forward and even super comfortable walking around town and through the airport in.

I wasn't going to wear them for my long run right out of the box but I'm dealing with a blister and these just felt so much better then my previous long run show and reduced the pressure on that area. It's fast. I had a hill workout but my warm up and cool down paces were about 10sec per mile faster without any effort. For my workout I ran up and down a ski mountain 10 times. They felt stable on the grassy slope. This is definitely my new favorite shoe. 16 miles 4 miles on a steep grassy slope, almost 1,900 ft of vert total. I'm sold. I can wear these for anything I feel except the technical stuff. I'm between sizes. I bought these in 9.5 and they fit perfect. I also wear 9.5 for Rivera's but wear 9 for Lone Peaks and Escalate Racers
