I have always used a messenger type camera bag, and never wanted a backpack one because I thought they would be hot and uncomfortable (thinking back to my college days and walking long distances with a heavy bag). Peak Design changed my mind about backpacks. I already had an everyday messenger that I loved, but I bought a new 200-500mm lens and was looking for a camera bag that would hold the camera with that lens attached. I also had some trips coming up, and figured a backpack would be easier to carry around at the airport. I ended up absolutely falling in love with the 30L backpack. It is SO comfortable, and I don't end up with a hot sweaty back like I was worried about. It holds a ton of gear, has small pockets for accessories, and larger pockets for a laptop/iPad etc. the back poacher is so large/deep that I lose stuff in it sometimes - my only complaint. Looks sharp and it's the same great, rugged material as my beloved messenger bag. I recommend this bag often to to anyone who's looking for a new camera bag.

This bag is my everyday bag, now - it fits as much or as little as I need, and has plenty of pockets and hideaway spots for all the various accessories that I like to keep with me. The only thing I wish it had were zippers on the interior pockets for the main compartment - the things I keep stashed there occasionally escape the magnet, and if it were zip instead of magnetized, I would be able to keep smaller things in there without worry that they'd fall out. Other than that, though, the bag is perfect for me.

I bought this a year ago. I am happy on MagLatch is stronger. The outer material is relatively easy to clear. I like to bring this bag for outdoor photo shooting.

I owned the V1 since launch and loved it. It tore and with their great warranty I got the updated version. It continues to be the best backpack. I use it for work, traveling and backpacking. I recommend this backpack to everyone.

I've got this 20L everyday backpack and found it to be and excellent product to use for my camera gear. I just wish I bought the 30L due to the amount of gear I like to carry. However I manage with the smaller bag. This bag is worry free and protects my gear.

I bought this Everyday back pack for a month already. I'm very please with the quality and innovative design of the product from Peak Design. I test the back pack in a very heavy rain while I was riding my motor bike. No leak at all in heavy rain at about 10 minutes of my ride. But off course it come with very steep cost for us in Malaysia

Why do I give a 5star review to a product I have hardly used? Because for the duration of a summer of wonderful weather, I was daily seduced by the Peak 10L sling even though I had to edit my stuff down to the minimum. Now that the weather has shifted I find I am using my 30L bag all the time and very happy. In fact my appreciation grows each time. I've set up the velcro dividers at the bottom so my Olympus EMD Mark III is on top for quick side access with 2 or 3 lens below the shelf or accessible from the other side leaving the top free for gear. Although the straps look somewhat thin and with minimal padding I have found them to be ergonomically extremely comfortable even when I just have it slung on one shoulder. When wearing on two shoulders it makes the packed bag feel lighter than it is. I always like to have a small pocket at top for quick access to wallet, advil etc. and at first I was sad the Peak doesn't have this but - how clever - if you open the back zipper where the computer goes there is a top pocket so one zipper gives you access to both. The small, almost invisible slot at the bottom designed for quick access to extra straps is quite sneaky. A good place to keep my stash, if I had one. The two negatives: 1. At 4.5 lbs the bag is a bit heavy compared to my 2.5 lb. Timbuk2. The price you pay for all the padding and pockets etc. but it can quickly feel quite heavy (helped by the comfy straps noted above). 2. The Mag Latch Top can be problematic. When trying to extend the capacity it can be hard to close since it is stiff and doesn't bend. But the real issue is that own a typical pack you can leave the top open and quickly reach in and out of it. You can't fold the Mag Latch back so it stays open. This is particularly awkward when you are trying to carefully pack your items. You pretty much need to dedicate one hand to keeping the top open when I want two hands to grab items and move others around. The same with side access to a lesser degree. The stiff material often requires one hand keeping it open while the other roots around doing what it has to do. 3. (I know I only said 2 but this is unofficial since I may be wrong) Unlike the sling bag which has a perfect place for the capture clip, the only good place here seems to be high up on the strap and it is not as easy to quickly release and grab your camera. But in the final analysis, it always feels good to be wearing and using this Peak Design bag.

Ok, just start off. I never review stuff unless its beyond crappy or beyond amazing. I've had the Everyday Backpack (30L) for a few months now without any ups or downs, until last night. I bike to and from work once a week and as luck would have it, got caught in a torrential downpour. I carry my Mac and iPad in the bag and was sweating bullets (or maybe it was rain, idk) thinking about how ruined they were. The whole outside of the backpack was completed soaked, but the inside was completely bone dry. Buy this bag, your wallet will thank you later.

I was already convinced after a friend had used the v1 and after watching the detailed and comprehensive videos from the Peak Design team. I'm not disappointed. The backpack itself is great, full of clever details. The quality is really nice. It works perfectly for me and I do recommend it. It's rather expensive but I'm sure it will last for many years, so I was happy to make the investment.

Great for travel! pocket for sliding it onto the luggage is one of the best features, love it and this will make it the ideal travel bag. The additional straps on the back give you a room to slide a hoodie or jacket ( if it didn't fit in the bag)-> this make it perfect especially if you are roaming around forest or mountains. Sleek design makes it look professional and casual! 5 stars!

I received two travel backpacks green and black and we couldn't be more satisfied. These are of high quality material, feel great on and the storage compartments and optional compression bags you can buy are worth it. These bags are exactly what we are looking for to take on as carryons in North America and budget european flights. We had an issue with not receiving some straps and customer service was able to send them to us quickly. PD is a great company and we will continue to be their customers in the future without a doubt. Highly recommend.

PD does design right - the bag is beautiful, and functionality is excellent. This is probably my 4th backpack, trying to find one that really does what I need. It seems like I may have found it! My travel bag the past few years has been the ThinkTank Airport Accelerator - also great, & it fits my monster old 500mm Nikon lens - but it is BIG. I have had trouble even with small overhead bins in airplanes with it - and then I have to check a roller bag with my actual clothes, or cheat an extra bin space. I can tell you that the 30L size will fit as a carryon under the seat, and still hold what I need, and I shoot big DSLRs - not mirrorless rigs. (It will NOT fit the 500mm, so I'll be keeping the ThinkTank for if I need to travel with that one). I just took my first trip with the bag, to Costa Rica, and was able to put a roller bag in the overhead, and my 30L Everyday bag with ALL the gear I needed under the seat in front, and not check anything. Which is how I like to fly. I carry big DSLRs - not mirrorless. I did miss 1 lens that did not make the cut, but that was an executive decision. For anyone interested, here's what all I packed, all in the 30L PD bag: - D850 body w/battery grip -D500 body w/battery grip - Nikkor 300mm f4 - " " 70-200mm f2.8 - 1.4x TC - PD Travel tripod - Zoom H4N audio recorder - Rode VideoPro mic - SB 700 speedlight - Cables, chargers, SD & XQD cards, small flashlight, bluetooth speaker, rocket blaster, lens brush, etc - all accessories.

Been a great backpack for about 2 years of everyday use as an office backpack and the occasional weekend use as a camera pack (or) a personal item on flights. It's very convenient to segment using the partitions in the backpack and stay more organized. Would definitely come to peak design again if i needed another high quality backpack. The only con is of durability, as the zipper on the side came off after just under 2 years of use but peak design has a great lifetime warranty and they were happy to replace the backpack with a new one (with return shipping for the old one, i didn't even have a bill since i got the bag from my employer). Wish they redesigned V1 zipper to have better longevity (as they claim on the V2 version) or they start giving out V2 in case of zipper issues on the V1. But nevertheless, i am a really happy customer with their lifetime warranty.

I never leave reviews, but this bag has served me so well, I needed to come and write about it. I originally bought this backpack to use as a photography gear bag. I used it as a commuter style bag to haul my lenses, camera, and computer to and from work, shoots, and around town, which it did a great job at! A year later I decided to travel for an extended period of time. This bag was the only one that came with me on that year of travel. I know that's not what it's intended for, but I wanted a bag that would cradle my camera, be big enough to bring many things, but also throw under my seat of an airplane. I have repeatedly over-stuffed this bag, filled it with the heaviest things, dropped it in water, thrown it around, gotten it dirty, you name it. I've taken this bag literally through the Sahara desert, on salty and wet boat rides, through rain storms, hundreds of buses, planes, etc. Through all of this it has held up as well as it has since day one. I'm beyond impressed that it has taken my abuse so well. The bag is so well built and insanely durable. Because I got the gray color, it doesn't even look dirty after all that. Every aspect is so well designed and so thoughtful. I delight in the hidden features it has. This bag is uber functional and practical and still looks great. If you're debating it, just do it. It'll be the last backpack you'll buy for a long time. I'm three years into owning it and it still shows little wear.

Peak Design does a great job making products that look good and are very functional. This V2 Everyday Backpack is no exception. My only complaints come from being an original "V1" owner. There are several changes to V2 that I don't like compared to V1. Most prominently is side access flaps. On V1 the zippers went so far as to allow the side to swing completely open and stay open. On V2 the zippers do not go as far and the flap must now be held open or it closes. Staying open made the bag great for quick on-the-go access with just one hand. Secondly, on the side flaps, the inside was a fully covered and zippered pocket with smaller pockets within. Now the covering is gone. So the small pockets are just exposed to the inside of the bag. To make that worse, items are only held in the pocket by loose elastic fabric and a single magnet. So small items easily fall into the main compartment when the bag is moved around. Speaking of the loose elastic fabric.. my third complaint is the elastic fabric is thinner and weaker than fabric used in V1. I'm not sure of this was an economic choice or environmental, but it just feels bad compared to V1 and it's used throughout. V1 had a "secret" pocket just behind the latch on the main compartment that as well blended. Now its the loose elastic fabric and doesn't hide thing. On the positive side, the magnets to hold the straps are welcome addition. As well as the extra pockets in the laptop compartment.

I've used both the original 20L, and this Gen2 30L extensively over the last 4-7 years. While there's plenty I appreciate about each generation, I still feel like PD needs to combine some of the features from each, and improve other things into a better 3rd generation Everyday pack. From the Original, please bring back the tan/camel color fabric interior. It looks so much nicer and felt more premium. Also, the divider sleeve for the laptop/tablet was much nicer than the flimsy piece of fabric now used in the Gen2. I also really preferred the metal grommet reinforcement with short, perpendicular bartacks on the top strap instead of just the weird straight long lines of bar-tacking that go lengthwise. On Gen2, I prefer the cleaner design with less stitching on the outside of the pack, but that might be about it. Moving the laptop compartment zipper to the other side of the handle is fine, but the squared shoulders on it don't look as cool, and the compartment is still hard to get a computer in/out of when the rest of the pack has stuff in it. Needed improvements on both Gens - while the latch is handy, the big metal tab gets scuffed up easily, and the way it 'hooks' out at the bottom then scratches anything you lean it up against (camper van cabinets, etc.). I also wish the top had a better way to close up or seal. Elastic or a slim drawcord might be nice. Windblown sand and dust get into the main compartment too easily. Overall, when the packs are fully loaded, it becomes really hard to get anything in or out. There needs to be more space in the laptop sleeve, and accommodation for the top pocket in there. The whole pack tends to sag down, and then cameras or lenses in the bottom take too much effort to get out of back in. While I like the matte, all-black look of the packs, I've never loved PD's exterior fabric. It scuffs and holds onto marks and dirt really easily. It's also heavy. I also prefer the nice, doubled over spandex side pockets on some Evergoods packs to the thick, harder to get into versions on these. Despite being relatively thin and narrow, the should straps are still quite comfortable. I do wish they had an anti-microbial treatment to keep the smells away, or were removable to wash or replace. Mine have gotten pretty funky over the years/hikes, and can't get it out. I also wouldn't mind another top outside pocket, perhaps on the lid. And lastly, in general I feel like PD's stitch quality could be better. Other than that, I've gotten lot of use out of these, but hope they can finally combine features and make the 3rd generation the charm.

I have had this as my goto backpack now for a couple years. It is an all around great pack and I am able to easily pack a laptop an ipad a nikon Z8 and 2-3 lenses without a problem. The only real issue is the main straps slip off the shoulders easily if you don't use the cross strap to hold them towards your body center. This is particularly bad when wearing over a slick puffy jacket, they almost want to slide off each side. The strap length adjuster also tends to not grab firmly so you need to readjust strap length every time you put the pack on, not a deal breaker but not ideal.
