Comfortable, durable, bouncy/good energy return and great traction for all types of trails. If they were a bit lighter they would be perfect. Also not the best looking shoe, but that's subjective. I've really enjoyed this shoe and it's probably my new favourite daily trail workhorse for a variety of terrain.

I really like these trail shoes. They are comfortable and have great grip. The only problem is fit. I got the same size as all my other Sacony shoes but these feel huge on my feet. I actually double checked to make sure I got the right size. Other than that these shoes are great!

An excellent shoe for longer training runs and races. Very comfortable upper that breaths and drains well. The midsole provides good cushion and energy return. Excellent traction from the outsole. The laces can take a bit to get good overall lockdown in the mid foot. The higher forefoot volume is great for swelling at Ultra distances, but makes the shoe feel a bit loose on technical downhills.

I was so looking forward to these but they were just too narrow for me. Sole is fantastic and the lock down is great but I had to send them back sadly. If they come out with a wide version I'll order again.

The inside of this shoe is slightly larger than the Peregrine) which I have been using and loving for many years). Great new model to run ultras, with better protection to rocks and roots! 4mm drop (Saucony's trail standard) would be better than the current 6mm drop.

I have loved these shoes. They are exactly what I was hoping for. I have ran in the Peregrines for years and loved them, but recently felt like I needed something with just a little more cushion. I've tried other brands, and didn't like any of them. These hit the mark, all except for two things. First, they don't size the same as the Peregrines. Like a whole shoe size bigger. Second, the traction is not as grippy as the Peregrines, something I've always thought was superior to other brands.

Soft run without too much absorption. I've been a loyal fan of the Saucony Peregrines for over 7 years and wanted a shoe for longer, hybrid runs (gravel + paved). The Lowe profile of the thread on thr Xodus Ultra and just enough added cushion seems to be the right mix. My only issue is how quickly the tread wears. I noticed smoothing even as early as having run only 30 miles.

I was so happy to hear about the ultra coming out, the exodus line has been great most of the time ,but always heavier than I would have liked! With the lightning up of the model you can be in it all day, but technical down hill with rocks is not the place for this model.

Runs 1/2 size small compared to other sauconys. I've been reliably wearing 8.5 in a variety of Sauconys for years. I don't like the super thin tongue they have switched to, or put on, some of their models, including this one. It makes it uncomfortable on the top of my foot when I have to lace down tight. I have ended up having to make my own additional padding to put between the laces and the super-thin tongue. I never had this problem with the traditional thick padded tongues. I like that the toe box rand area is stiffer than many other models, for toe protection when I kick rocks accidentally.

I purchased these a few weeks ago and have completed four long runs(12-17miles) and four shorter runs (6-10miles). I've run trails in the south western part of Virginia with creek crossings, Rocky vert and fast single track. Additionally, I've run on dry flatter trails out in Virginia Beach. The positives; great toe box which has ample volume, the fit throughout the mid foot and heel is secure, amazing traction. The negatives; the lacing system is awful, I've had sever pain in the tops of my feet from doing an ankle lock lacing. I've never had this problem before this shoe. The midsole is just meh, I thought with the power run pb core it would have felt more like the endorphin series road shoes. The midsole just doesn't give me any excitement. I'm not disappointed in the shoe but it's not anything to special. I think if they softened up the midsole, fixed the lacing system and kept everything the else the same it would be near perfect. Oh and add a nylon plate like the endorphin speed instead of a rock plate. Ive seen reviews already for version two and they didn't seem to update much, so I'll probably skip purchasing them until I see the third version review.

Very comfortable midsole! One of the best i have ever tried. There are a few drawbacks: - lacing system is weak, traditional would be much better. - too little padding on tongue, firmer lock with laces hurts - too high and stiff ankle collar biting into my ankle - i had to return these shoes because of that : / Otherwise i would recommend this shoe to everyone, get it and try if you dont suffer from the ankle collar, you might have a really good time in this shoe.

I have been dedicated to the Xodus for many years , on rugged hiking trails the Xodus has been a champion. Each new model over the years has had its issues but for the most part it has been a supportive and protective shoe for me. Unfortunately this Ultra model has really failed to meet my expectations. Great for groomed trails but really disappointing on rugged hiking trails. The lateral stability in the upper is non existent and the protective features on the sides are non existent and are minimal on toe. The weight may be lighter but that's because those protective features and underfoot comfort features are gone. The sock liner ( insole) is much thicker so that cushy feel is not the actual shoe, it's the liner. This also makes the shoe fit strangely, if you take out the liner to put in your own orthotic or arch support insoles you might have to size down. Considering the Ultra's loss of features less "shoe" and more "insole", Xodus 11 was a far superior model and Saucony needs to take Xodus back to the rugged trail runner of its past.

I agree with others that the ankle cut is too high! The stiff part of the collar digs into my lateral tendons at the ankle bone. And the durability of the outsole is questionable - shows too much wear for about 20 mi of running, which is no good for such an expensive and great feeling shoe. Overall, despite being happy with the feel underfoot and the spacious toebox width, there is room for improvement and I am very eager to see the next iteration of this shoe.

Loved the style, but the back was a little high and rubbed me the wrong way. Zappos makes returns and exchanges so easy, I already have a different shoe on the way!

The Xodus Ultra has great potential, but it sits too high for technical or uneven trails. I would classify it as an "ankle breaker" and have suffered sprains twice while running in this shoe on trails I am familiar with. My current go-to Saucony is the Switchback 2 which is awesome for the rough trails & bushwacking I put them through, but they wear out quickly. I had high hopes for the Xodus and it seems to hold up better to the miles, but I believe that is mainly due to the fact you can't subject them to as much abuse without injuring yourself. As with pretty much all Saucony's, order a least 1/2 size up if you have normal width feet to avoid uncomfortable side pinching and loss of circulation to your toes. Unfortunately, the Xodus Ultras just don't work for the type of trails I prefer to run. I will be going back to my Switchbacks & just figure on replacing them every couple of months as they wear out.

I was excited about this release after using the Xodus 10 for long distance mountain running, and feeling increasingly disappointed with the traction and tippy stability of the Xodus 10. Put 50mi in the Xodus Ultra and decided to return them for Speedgoat 5s for one main reason: the ankle collar rides high and is thick and rigid, and rubbed my ankle bone to the point of bruising and pain that was becoming debilitating after a few hours- especially in technical terrain when ankles are engaged with more mobility. I also had some weird uncomfortable rubbing that bruised the top of my foot.. perhaps from the debris shield on the tongue. Otherwise I loved the feel and ride of these shoes under foot, great traction and technical performance, great balance of cushion and ground feel. I would look forward to version 2.0 with some minor tweaks

Like a previous reviewer, I got these to replace a pair of Peregrine 12's which I had blown through the upper. Unfortunately these shoes also have durability issues. After less than 80 miles the toe guard on one side has completely peeled away. Really disappointing to see these durability issues in Saucony shoes.

This shoe was amazing until 70k into their life. The steep/high outer ankle wall started killing my ankle. I had to stop wearing them a day before a 50k trail race and went back to my peregrines. I hope saucing will return my shoe 33 days after purchase or help me figure out how to fix it (insoles?)

It feels great slipping this shoe on. It's super comfortable. The midsole is cushy but not too soft nor unstable. It runs smoothly on trails, gravel roads, and pavement. However, the flawed ankle collar design makes it unsuitable for long runs. I learned that the hardway after about 60 miles of the Vermont 100. The collar was painfully bruising my left lateral ankle when running on off cambered trail or road surfaces. This was a major letdown since I had very high hopes for the shoe.

I usually have good luck with Sacony shoes This style was a complete flop ! They make a terrible squeaking noise when walking and the support is very flat and uncomfortable..Don't waste your money on this shoe !!!

I bought these shoes as my go-to for ultra trail race distances and training. The cushion and grip are great. However, I noticed that the new insoles are not just a sock liner, they significantly contribute to the cushion of the shoe by using the PwrRun PB foam. The prior Peregrine and Xodus versions had this cushion stitched to the top of the midsole. This change is a problem as normally I remove the factory insoles and use Currex insoles for better arch support, but doing that definitely reduces the comfort and overall performance of the shoe. This new design eliminates these shoes (and the Peregrine 12/13's) from my option list for shoes. I have run and raced trail ultras in the Saucony Peregrine versions 5, 6 (two pair), 7 (two pair), 10, 11( three pair) and loved them. I now have to look for new options.

These seemed like too much fabric on top of the shoe. Not a good fit like the Asics. Loved the color. Wish Asics had a greenish shoe
