My oldest son has this backpack and it is fantastic for him. Bombproof for school, scouts, and summer camp. However for an adult the straps are just too small. The bag itself is bigger than some of the adult backpacks LL Bean sells. The straps are not long enough both shoulder and waist for an adult (I am 6ft tall). If this back had longer straps it would be a 5 star bag. I remember as a kid we all got LL Bean book bags and they lasted Elementary School through College. If LL Bean doesn't make the straps longer like the old days everyone will have to buy a new backpack in High school.

My son has had LL Bean bags since he began kindergarten. He is now 6th grade and it was finally time to upgrade to something that could carry all his books and his lunch.

Bought this for my grandson. It seems to be of good quality material and workmanship. If it had a chest strap across the front i would have given it 5 stars. A chest strap is really needed, especially for younger children.

Great bag. My 6 year old initially complained the straps were too close to each other at the neck-end, so the straps were pinching his neck. No complaints after that day, so all good now I guess :)

I bought the navy in this book bag and it is just beautiful. Has a nice shimmer to it. This bag for the money is VERY well made and holds ALOT. The only problem I had are the straps are very padded (that's a good thing), but they are very stiff at the same time. They "cut" into my shoulders even with clothing on; was worse when bag was loaded down. The super deluxe version of this bag has the "flatter" padded straps which are more comfortable. Due to the absence of retaining straps on the side, this bag does drop down/drag backwards when loaded. But this is where the difference in cost shows up from more expensive bags within the LLBean line. I am tossing around whether I am going to keep it. SUCH a great price, well made, and beautiful color, but the straps might be the kicker for me.

Purchased this pack as my older boy went into 3rd grade, that pack is still in use as he's going into 6th. His brother has been trying to "borrow" it so many times that I've purchased him a matching one that he's been carrying around since it arrived 3 weeks ago and school hasn't even started yet.

The backpack itself is great, however in person the lillac color is very different and my daughter HATED it in person. Too bad we customized it

Zipper came apart in only 3 years... We've only ever had L.L.Bean backpacks, so this is a big disappointment.

This is the second one I've bought in a years time. My grandson got the zipper caught in the flap that hides the zipper. Had to cut a piece of the flap out to get it loose. Same thing happened with this new one.I got it out this time. I ended up tacking the flap back so it wouldn't get stuck again

This is generally a great backpack. However, the blue handle (to hang on a hook, or to lift the pack up) broke today. We have had this for 5 months! It is not misused - the rest of the pack looks great. This handle was a bad design, or else bad implementation of design - the handle strap needs to be wider and needs much stronger stitching.

This backpack is not the same quality that I have come to expect from LL Bean. The fabric is thin. The pockets are not very durable. Overall, I regret buying this for my child. My child had the other backpack from LL Bean throughout middle and high school. I doubt this one will make it through the college experience.

So I have a mixed feelings about this backpack. I bought for my son in 5th grade. He loved it from the beginning but within a week, one of the zipper got stuck. He still likes it and uses it but not sure of the quality of the zipper.

I bought a fresh mint delux bag in May 2021. Used it as a gym bag for three summers by the swimming pool, approx 450 hours of sun exposure. It is still in good shape EXCEPT THAT the pretty original color has faded to an ugly greenish yellow, unpleasant to look at and I don't really like to carry it any more. I see that it's nylon not polyester. I have purchased a polyester backpack from a different manufacturer. Perhaps polyester will work better. This backpack is fine for a use that doesn't involve regular sun exposure, but if I'd known how badly it would fade I would not have purchased it.

This bag has great capacity - tons of pockets and compartments for organizing your things, however the shoulder straps are really stiff and scratchy irritate my kid's neck.

The backpack is well made and beautiful. My granddaughter is very hard on her backpacks and we are hoping this one will last for her. Love all the compartments for her fun stuff and school supplies.

We have bought these backpacks before and ABSOLUTELY LOVED THEM they were amazing but a few years has passed and my daughter who is now 13 is tired of her old babyish backpack. She was sooo disappointed when she looked on the website and couldn't find the colors (white and gold) which matched all of her other supplies for school. We love the quality but really wish that they would add more designs that are appropriate for teens

I bought two of these for my kids. The material is good. The size is good. The zippers get stuck daily on the zipper flap. I had to cut the flaps off on both of them. The water bottle holders are way too small they might hold a Poland Spring bottle but these too fall out. I will never get another one of these bags.

The mesh pocket design is a poor choice for this backpack. I purchased two of these brand new in August for my kids to use for school and both of them are now getting holes in the mesh pockets. For $60 Bucks I would expect the pockets to hold up!

School stared in Aug,by Sept the zipper had already come off track that Ive had to rig many times & zipper is constantly getting stuck on the fabric flap over the zipper. costumer service said I could mail in and exchange but it could be a 2-3 week processing time. Thats not feasible for a student who has a lot of books/laptop to carry around. This bag likely wont last one full school year.Would not recommend this bag!

Quality is just not there anymore. Size and color are great. Both side pockets ripped within 2 weeks of use. Cant return because my son had put a few iron on patches on. Reached out to custom service and got no response.
