I purchased this bag for work. I carry an older work issued 15.6" laptop and charger, misc folders with paperwork, misc office supplies, my lunch, 1 liter water bottle, and my purse. I specifically purchased this bag because of the large capacity and the large laptop compartment. There are much better designed bags in the LL Bean line up so don't consider this bag unless you really need the 42 liter capacity. Before the bag ripped, I was already disatisfied because the shoulder straps were positioned badly and constantly falling off my shoulders. I also disliked the vertical zipper on the front pocket. Stuff was constantly falling out of the pocket. The horizontal zippers on the regular book bags are much better. The final deal breaker is that both a shoulder strap seam and a pocket seam ripped after one year of use. Usually LL Bean bags last for years.

It fit everything but my daughter has had it 3 weeks and it has already ripped in 3 place will be sending back for replacement. For the amount of money I spent it should of held up alot better than it has. Rethink this purchase.

My son carries to school a Chromebook, lunch, 32oz water, binders, notebooks, and other electronic necessities that total 24 pounds every day. Three weeks into the new school year, one shoulder strap and one side of the pull handle at the top started to fray. My son carried a slightly lighter load before the pandemic year in the Super Deluxe Bookpack, which he had used for 3 years, and it held up fine. We got the Comfort Carry Portable Locker Pack for the capacity, but did not anticipate the handles to go so prematurely! This quality is so unlike what I expect from L.L. Bean. Kids nowadays, at least in our area, carry laptops to school, which add a significant extra weight to their bags. This needs to be considered when designing kids backpacks. At the very least, the seam at the top should be much stronger!

I've only been using this backpack since July 2021.. it is October 2021 now. One of the straps is already ripping from its seam. I'm quite disappointed as LLBean products have always been better quality than this. I used this backpack for my work commute. The size was amazing and I loved all the pockets. But I expected the material to last A LOT longer than this. I will be returning it to my LLBean store.

I still have my LL Bean backpack from high school and it is still in one piece. . My son has had his for less than 1 month and the strap is fraying on one side and the handle is fraying on both sides. He is 11, so his stuff is heavy, but not not that heavy. Nothing like the textbooks we used to cram into those bean backpacks. Very disappointed.

This is the first negative review I have ever written for an LL Bean produce. I have never hated a backpack as much as I hate this one. I will probably get rid of it soon. I purchased this backpack to replace a similar Jansport one that is not quite large enough. I had very specific requirements in that I required a separate and padded compartment large enough for a 15" laptop, bottle pocket large enough for a 750ml camelbak bottle, and large capacity. This backpack meets those requirements but falls short in all other design features. This backpack is up to LL Bean usual quality standards with respect to workmanship and materials, but it is otherwise a terrible backpack. First the good: laptop compartment is well designed, and there are two bottle pockets. Now the flaws: 1. The shoulder straps are too widely spaced and are perpetually falling off my shoulders. I can not even walk 50' without having to use the sternum strap. Even with the sternum strap the shoulder straps are uncomfortable 1. Backpack is very tippy - it constantly falls over onto the front unlike other LL Bean Packs 3. Bottle pockets are too shallow and bottles constantly fall out when the pack tips over 4. The small front zipper pocket is vertical rather than horizontal and stuff falls out while you are fishing around in it. 5. No key clip 5. Open stash pocket on the front is not vented and therefore not useful for rain geer yet isn't really big enough for anything else. It lacks elasticity which does make it more durable. However that means that the only adjustment is by using the side tension straps which alter then alter the main compartment 6. Few internal pockets for small items and
pencil pockets are too narrow for many brands of pens. 7. Sunglasses / phone pocket on the top is not padded or line. LL Bean makes many very good back packs and my family owns several. I absolutely do NOT recommend this particulary pack though.

My middle school daughter needed a large capacity backpack for her Chromebook and notebooks that provided back support. This was ideal. The size is MORE than ample for her things and the straps are padded and wide, giving her the shoulder and back support she needed. HOWEVER...after four months of normal use, the right shoulder straps is pulling apart at the seams where it meets the top of the backpack. This is the strap she grabs when she puts the backpack on every day. I'm stunned that it isn't holding up, and she is not rough with her things. This is typical use. Disappointed in that we were hoping to have this bag last her through next year, but we'll have to find a replacement over the summer. For this price, I was expecting something much more durable.

I purchased this backpack about a year and a half ago. It was spacious and very functional for a busy high school student. However, I have gone through four of these backpacks since I purchased my first. Each one either fraying at the top of the shoulder strap, or the fabric handle breaking out after less than 3 months. I don't carry anything extremely heavy or out of the ordinary for the average high school student. My previous backpack from L.L.Bean had lasted me over 8 years with no such problems. I am extremely disappointed withe quality and durability of this bag. Would not recommend.

My children and I have been caring LL Bean backpacks for at least the last 30 years. We have always carried the Deluxe model but I thought I would change things up this year and try something new. Boy was I disappointed!!! Within the first month of carrying this backpack the handle broke off and both of the straps have started to rip. The quality of this backpack is like the quality I would find at W*****T!!! Would not recommend this backpack to anyone!!!

We bought this two months ago and the top handle broke. Customer service said to ship it back and turnaround 2-3 weeks to determine if it is an issue and under warranty. Not worth the headache nor the money.

My daughter's backpack is already ripping in several places after less than three months of normal use. I'm extremely disappointed in the quality of this bag. Looking at the other recent reviews, I can see we are not the only ones experiencing the same issues. I will be returning this.

Very disappointed. Used less than 6 months with minimal weight inside the pack. The strap tore. I'm just finding out that this is a very common problem with this product. Will be returning it.

Hasn't lasted AT ALL the top carry handle has broken and one of the straps is tearing loose. My son is 17 and he knows how to take care of his things. This bag is junk if it can't handle one school year plus a few months.

Similar to what many other reviewers describe, the straps on this pack are not sturdy. First one started to rip at top of shoulder strap with just a few weeks of light use. Drove all the way to LLBean store to exchange it before son left for college. On the 2nd pack, the top strap ripped the first time he picked his pack with just a laptop in it. Poor quality. Never had problems with many LL Bean backpacks purchased over the years. Shame this is not a quality product because it is attractive and otherwise a nice pack. Very disappointed!

I bought the bag just over 2-3 years ago and definitely carry a fair amount of stuff (laptop, light jacket, lunch box, chargers etc) to and from classes throughout the school year. Just after the first year the left strap began fraying from the top of the backpack. With the updated warranty policy for only 1 year I was unable to utilize it, but after spending over $100 on a backpack I wasn't about to buy another one so I have been limping it along with duck tape and over using the other strap. So far it is holding it together, but I would have not bought the bag if I knew this would be such an issue. I love all the storage and organization it has to offer and have been exclusively using LLBean backpacks since I was 6 years old, many decades later now with no issues with wearing. Now my last two bags have had the same issue with the straps fraying so I truly may go elsewhere for my future bags.

I was so excited to recieve this new backpack. My last backpack (different brand) lasted me 12 years. I primarily use it for travel. On my first trip the should strap already pulled away and frayed. I'm so upset as the bag wasn't cheap and now I need to get a new one.

I am so disappointed in this purchase. I bought this backpack for my middle-school son, and the stitching on the straps and hanging loop is already beginning to unravel after barely 3 weeks of use. To have such an expensive backpack fall apart so quickly is frustrating, to put it mildly. I will not purchase another bag from LL Bean again.

I bought this backpack for my son thinking it would last through high school based on LL Beans advertising and the price. After 8 months, one of the internal pockets is ripping at the seam. To be eligiblefor a replacement you must send the backpack back, at your expense. LL Bean will inspect and determine if you are eligible for a replacement. Not satisfied. As you can see the backpack is being used but not drug behind a car.

As a 10th grader my son wanted a larger backpack this year, so in August of 2022 I ponied up for what we thought would be a durable good-quality and long lasting backpack, assuming he'd be able to use it for the rest of his HS years. Sadly here we are in early April of 2023 and the straps are failing already! Truly disappointing since his previous ('lesser" brand) backpack had endured through middle school and his freshman year with only a minor zipper issue. Am getting ready to ship back for a refund (I hope!). NOT the quality expected from LL Bean, and certainly not worthy of the premium price point
