I use this backpack/duffel for short business and personal travel trips - 3 to 4 days and it's excellent. It's replaced my Filson roller case for short trips.

I bought this bag initially for a trip to the west coast via plane that got postponed. A week later, I had to be away for 4 days for work, and did the same a week later. My first impression of the bag was it screams quality and looks great. Often times you have to pick "fashion" or "function" but this bag is great looking and highly functional. The seperate show pocket at the base of the bag held my size 12 hiking boots with ease, and the rest of the bag held work clothes, gym clothes, and casual clothes to last me 4 days. The zippers are robust, and the option to wear it as a backpack allowed me to check into my hotel with my briefcase in one hand, and my soft cooler in the other. This is not my last Mystery Ranch product by any means. Highly recommended!

I bought this for one bag travel and really like it. I have only used it for a few shorter trips, but the size, layout, and organization are great!

The pack has many great features especially for a seasoned traveler like myself .
It was a gift from my son .
I travel 5 months out of the year and need a versatile travel bag .
This one should work great
Wish they made a similar pack but smaller to fit under seat on airplane
Thanks

I bought this for an international trip where I needed a great carry-on that didn't need to be wheeled and could pack enough gear to keep me going for three days. This bag did all that while keeping everything organized and looking awesome along the way! All the review videos held true. I love how tough this bag is. After throwing it around for 3 weeks, there's not a mark on it.

I ordered the wrong color and the guy that helped me with the exchange made it super fast and easy. I love the product and am impressed with the quality.

I really like this bag, its well thought out and constructed. My only complaint is that there was very little information out about the largest variant which I bought. Most of the info is about the smaller two.

This pack improves greatly upon the last Mission rover, with much better backpack carry setup including the addition of load lifters and tuck away waist belt. Also, the much larger zip open front pocket makes loading and unloading much simpler. Well done MR! the 45 liter is perfect for weekend getaways or 2-3 day business trips.

Bought this as a new travel duffle, for the record the 62 is HUGE, which was nice but I wanted to be able to use this bag as a carry on, so I went with the 40. For the record it will fit in an overhead bin, but it is TIGHT. Overall very impressed, had it full on my back and the weight is carried very well. I really like this bag, it will be getting used a whole lot in the next couple years.

I bought the Mission Rover a month ago after a long and frustrating search for an all around travel bag. There's a lot of good bags out there, but so many are geared around electronics or photography and forget about those of us that travel light or with a minimal amount of hardware. I travel with an iPad. I don't need room for a computer, a tablet, a keyboard, power strips, cameras, tripods, and a coffee pot. I need a bag that's can carry whatever I need 'regardless' of the season. An extra pair of boots, a heavier jacket, a sweater for colder travel. Just space. And the clamshell makes packing easy. The shoulder straps are comfortable, the hip belt is great, the admin gives me just enough space, the separate shoe compartment is convenient. All around, the best bag I've ever owned and I highly recommend it.

Heard about this bag after reading a review in "Sunset" magazine. Was able to pack everything I needed (and some things I really didn't) with packing cubes for a week-long vacation with room to spare. It fit in the overhead compartment with no issue. I was able to comfortably wear it as a backpack when in the airport. Looking forward to using it on some future trip to Europe. I really love this bag!

I LOVE this backpack/duffle bag combination. The company's website doesn't do justice to the number of great features they built into this bag. I bought it on a recommendation from a popular magazine and was prepared to be underwhelmed, but instead was blown away by how well this bag was designed to meet my needs as an international traveler. First, they nailed the size/dimensions perfectly to maximize capacity and still meet international carry-on standards. Sturdy duffle handles on all sizes so it can be grabbed quickly when scrambling onto whatever form of international transportation I encounter. Traveling in Asia, I have found that streets and sidewalks are not friendly to wheeled carry-ons, so my requirements included backpack straps. The quality and design of the shoulder straps and waistbelt on this bag far exceeded my expectations. Internally, the bag has great organizational pockets and zippered compartments. The bag opens up just like a wheeled carry-on would, providing easy access to contents. The externally-accessed shoe compartment is a great feature. And an unexpected bonus was that my HP Spectre 16-inch laptop fit (easily but snugly) into the padded laptop pouch. Finally, the included shoulder sling strap will be very useful for airports where I have my regular backpack on my back. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, my size XL Scuba Pro Go fins fit easily inside without having to be crammed in sideways and diagonally like they do with most hard-shell carry-ons!

I just got back from a 2 week trip that included planes, trains and automobiles. The pack worked very well. I like the no frills exterior. The backpack straps were comfortable and the simple suspension system made it great to carry. With the backpack straps tucked I was comfortable sending it through checked luggage. Easy to fit in an overhead bin. The exterior small compartment on the bottom worked great for a pair of shoes plus dirty laundry. One minor addition that I would suggest would be a slot for a card with name and contact info to be inserted with a clear window near the top of the outer pocket. Just a thought... Also, I have to mention that the zippers in this pack are outstanding! Well done!

I purchased this to replace a broken up duffel bag.
The quality is excellent and the bag itself was much more affordable than the competition.
I don't think you can go on long hikes, comfortably, with the backpack fully loaded. But if you need your hands free while bringing this bag through an airport, you're all set. I think you would normally carry the bag using the handles or strap.
This is enough bag for an organized, efficient traveler to go a week, or for someone traveling with a lot of stuff to go a weekend.
I'm very happy with the purchase.

Just used the bag for the first time this past weekend. Held a couple changes of clothes, toiletries and pair of running shoes. Laptop sleeve held paperwork and phone charging cord. Very happy with purchase.

If you are looking for a high quality, durable and practical bag for an overnight adventure or an out of country excursion, this is the one for you! After receiving it, the first thing I noticed is that it was a little heavier than I was expecting but you can tell that is due to the durability of it. Every zipper pull is smooth and sturdy. The zipper pulls themselves are easy to grab and pull open in a hurry, especially in the dark when you can't find your passport and you are late for the flight. (True Story) The Mission Rover hold all kinds of stuff, whether you are a minimalist travelling the world or hoarder on your way home from the flea market! With a clam shell opening, the bag has two sides with excellent storage capacity. I have the Mission Rover in Coyote and the color turned out a shade darker than the photo online. It is very sharp looking and appears professional. I would highly recommend it to any one! @mrbenmackey on Instagram

I bought this for travel and it is a great pack loaded with good inside features. It could use some external pockets/storage.

Great internal layout for travel. Could use 1-2 exterior mesh pockets for water bottle etc.

Really want to live the bag. Materials and build quality are top notch. Straps comfortable and easily adjustable. Interior compartments easy to access, and I love the quality of mesh used compared to so many other bags. I can't say enough good things about build quality and materials.
My main complaint is the exterior compartment and laptop sleeve location. If you even slightly overpack the bag, the exterior compartment is unusable. There is no flexible space to this compartment that is not used up by the underlying interior compartment.
The exterior location of the laptop sleeve concerns me regarding lack of protection to the laptop, as well as uneven weight distribution. Works better with tablet than a laptop.
It seems to me a simple fix would be to add a thin separate laptop sleeve on the back strap side of the pack that is accessible from outside. That would make this an absolute star of a pack. An exterior water bottle holder would be a plus, and it seems a lot of people would use that as well.

Seems other reviews mentioned you could not see into the zippered accessory compartments, if that was the case it is no longer as I can distinguish items just fine. Mystery Ranch probably listened to customers and fixed it. Perfect dimensions for the strictest of airlines "personal item" parameters. Only thing I would like to see different is a water bottle holder built in as I feel most purchasers of this pack would be carrying a reservoir of some sort as I did. If this was present then it would have been 5 stars.
