I was totally blown away how good this shoe is. I own a lot of running shoes and have tried lots of Salomon trail running shoes but these are hands down the best ones I have purchased. First run in them was almost 25km or over 15 miles with 1400 metres/4600 ft of elevation gain in the rugged mountain of Quebec, Canada. It poured rain the entire time and grip wasn't an issue whatsoever. I put this shoe through swamps, rivers, rocky, steep descents and they performed better than ever. My new go to racing shoe for up to 50 miles. Thank you Salomon.

I wanted to love this shoe, it had all the markers of a good shoe. I got it in size 8 which is what I use for Ultra 3. But after one 20k trail run, I developed a terrible pain on the inner part of my right foot on the downhills. I've never experienced this pain before and was running on my regular trail. That being said the grip felt good.

The gaiter part (in front of ankle) took one hike to get used to it but otherwise they're like socks. Great for uphill races.

This shoe has it all. Sock like fit, enough cushioning for any distance and great grip. Living in Scotland the deeper lugs are a must. The rocker and responsive mid sole does a fantastic job of pushing up the cadence. I feel the shoe is decided for a mid/forefoot striker. Whilst the heel has plenty of cushioning it is narrow, my only minor gripe with the shoe is the narrow heel, when bombing down a technical hill the shoe feels a bit unstable, for me anyway. But that's only minor. It's a fantastic shoe and worth every penny

My favorite for now! It's awesome in every way. I am a nurse and on the average work 50 hours a week. It truly makes walking the halls easier and less tiring. Fits well, true to size, good arch support, and extra light as if you're walking in the heavens. Love it to the max!

I have worn these shoes for (3) 4-mile trail runs over the last 3 weekends and I love them. Runs have been on hard pack, tree-rooted paths, and in rain/mud. The cushion is generous and the stack height remains stable. I find the laces easy to use. I tuck the slide lock in first, then fold the excess lace length in half a few times and then tuck them in. I use a "shoe horn" to get my foot into the shoe. The ankle cuff is snug and I have not experienced any chafing from it (nor blisters from insole). The cuff keeps debris out and smooths water flow (when swimming). Many 'swimrunners' are concerned about drainage. I am not. An empty shoe will hold about 1" of water. As a result, I feel a bit of a suction between my foot and insole which requires several strides to cycle out the water. The shoe is extremely light, sleek, cushioned, and the sole sufficiently lugged. I look forward to swimming AND racing (9mi Run + 2mi Swim) in them.

Super light, super responsive and super comfortable. The Slab pulsar SG are my favorite shoe. They were the main shoe I wore during my world record attempt on the manitou incline here in Colorado. . I ran up and down the incline 7x a day for 31 days wearing these shoes for the majority of the month. The incline is a stair case ascending 2000 feet in .88 miles. I HIGHLY recommend the S/lab pulsar SG! I just ordered the S/lab Pulsar 2 SG and can't wait to see what's different in the new gen !

Finally decided to give these a try after noticing them on sale. For a similar type of running I have been using the Ultra Glides which I give 5 stars and have multiple pair but wanted something lighter for racing. I stated, in my Pulsar review, that I purchased the Phantasm which caused blisters and thought there was no way I'd fit in the Pulsar or Pulsar SG. I was mistaken and it feels as though this shoe was designed specifically for my foot. I purchased a shoehorn after reading reviews prior to receiving the shoe but find no issues with putting the shoe on. I appreciate the quicklace far more than regular laces as well. This shoe will definitely be my new 5k and 10k cross country race shoe. I will also try this shoe for longer distances up to a half. If you were waiting or wondering about this shoe because of the fitment reviews I'd say give it a shot, you may be pleasantly surprised as I was. I also purchased the Pulsar and am just as happy. As a side note I am 40 years old and run 20-30 mpw with a 5k < 20 mins and a half marathon in 1:30:00 as of last month. I now wish I would have purchased these shoes instead of trying multiple other pair at slightly lower prices and being disappointed, costing more money overall.

Once I was able to get these on my feet, I loved the look, feel, & fit. The major downer is getting them on! I nearly broke a finger trying to hold the heel part while forcing the shoe on, as the ankle sock part is incredibly tight. I have resorted to slicing the top of the socking open by at least an inch...still tight but slightly better and doesn't affect the wearability.
I'd also recommend:
Used to be Altra, but they have now cut too many corners in quality.

Loved the original Pulsars, but they lacked the traction needed on many trails. The SG more than makes up for that, seems to have a wider toe box as well. Hope Salomon continues to improve this series. I am often torn between the SG and Pulsar Trail Pro when choosing a pair for the long trail runs. Both are excellent.

My all time favorite shoe has been the s/lab Sense 8 SG. My feet have taken quite a beating over the years so the tweak they made with more cushion without losing its agility and lightness is so refreshing. The sense 8 fit my front foot a little more snug than I would of liked and these seem to have solved that issue. It may have to do with the fabric giving a tiny bit more forging? I was nervous about the stability as many people told me how skinny the heel was. I'm very prone to ankle rolls which is why I loved the sense 8 so much. Never had to worry about rolling in very technical sections. Instantly I knew this was a non issue and I kicked myself for not getting the shoe earlier! I would highly recommend this shoe if you are looking to run fun and fast with confidence!

Finally got my feet in the SG, been waiting and they did not disappoint. I have the OG, and everything I thought the shoe could be is now in the SG. The added lug depth has made it a true trail option, which has also added a little more stability and cushion vs the OG. The OG was a up-to 21k shoe, but the initial feeing on the SG is I could do 50k. The new lace loops have also taken the upper fit/comfort to the next level, not so binding. The midsole is the same as the OG, really nice rocker, but could use a little spring, like a plate of some kind? Hmm Energy Blade? I also have the Trail Pro, which has been a really enjoyable shoe, the energy blade is awesome, just gives you the extra pop but the Pro upper is not as dialled in, which is what you get in the S/Lab. What would be the perfect shoe is a combo, bring the energy blade into the SG, 2023? Look forward to many KM in the SG and Pro

I'm happy these shoes are finally available in the US! I'd been consistently checking for their availability for several months and couldn't find anything until I actually reached out to Salomon which then made them available almost immediately after responding to me. Thank you, Salomon! My first impressions of the shoes when I tried them on out of the box: very lightweight, they fit like a glove, despite feeling much lighter they still offered support and structure around the heels and at the arches. I'm used to wearing trail runners with lugs anywhere between 2.5-4mm so the 4.5mm lugs and their placement on the Pulsar SG made me feel like I could be a little off-balance (but later on the trail this actually wasn't the case). The Contagrip felt much stickier than my Ultra 3's. The only thing I didn't like (not having to do with performance or feel) is the placement of the garage/lace pocket opening which is at the bottom instead of the top (similar to the Ultra 2 vs 3). I also noticed that the toe box felt just slightly narrower and a bit longer, but this did not affect the overall feel/performance of the shoe on the trail. Most of my time on trails is spent in the Sierra where the terrain varies: from waterfall and creek crossings, thru lush redwood forests, on smooth slippery granite, to steep elevation gains and loss at altitude. Half the time I'm backpacking, half the time I'm trail running/training. In regards to backpacking, I prefer to wear trail runners and have been doing it for years, even for weeks trekking thru the Alps, for its light weight and versatility, which works well with my lightweight/ultralight style of backpacking. I was lucky to get my hands on a pair of the Pulsar SG to bring out on the Hetch Hetchy Loop over the course of 3 days. There were times we were hitting anywhere between 17-40% +/- grades with several hours moving quickly in pouring rain. The shoes performed extremely well on mud, gravel, and granite rock. I ran into no issues on day 1 which was an overcast day with no rain, 11 miles on the trail, and a 5000+ft elevation gain. On day 2 I suffered 1-2 blisters on each foot due to the speed we were moving and weight I was carrying on my back (~21 lbs) with completely soaked shoes for almost a full day - so soaked my feet were actually making squishy noises with each step and it felt like a small puddle was pooling under my arches every time I lifted my foot. I will caveat though that I strongly prefer not to wear any socks and I realize this is a recipe for blisters with wet feet so I wouldn't quite put the blame of blisters on the shoes. The shoes dried very quickly after a good soaking in hours of heavy rain - they seemed to have almost completely dried while still on my feet on the trail after it had stopped raining for an hour. On day 3, blisters covered, the shoes still performed well through the varying terrain. I'll be bringing these back out backpacking on the High Sierra Trail in 2 weeks and can't wait to wear them again. After the HST, I'll be wearing them purely on light fast trail runs at home in the mountains around the Bay Area. If they continue to perform the next month or so, I may even consider an additional pair to bring for an overseas travel in the mountains.

I was lucky enough it be one of the first to take this shoe through it's paces. I live in the Lake District Uk so what a better testing ground. This shoe is special, it offered a great level of debris protection and the new lug design keeps you planted on the most technical of ground, wet or dry. It's has the perfect level of cushion and an unrivalled weight. It's like running on air!! This shoe is fast! I'm loosing the direction Salomon is going by adding a level of cushioning but not compromising the sleek racer design.

The light weight was perfect. The fit was not. Probably a whole size too small. The toe bags up when laces are tightened. Love the look though.

I really wanted to love this shoe - it looks great, has high quality materials, is super light, grippy (even on dry rock), and has enough cushion without being too "plush", allowing for great feel in technical terrain and over long distance. I've never been a wide shoe guy (even though I love the room) and have worn what most consider tight racers on and off for years with no issue. But the "sock" fit of this particular shoe is challenging to put on (but even that's ok to live with) and the exposed "lace" inner seams dig into both my feet, especially the top medial seams. I've tried light socks, heavy socks, no socks, and finally moleskin. After 50+ miles I've determined they're unwearable. Awesome shoe for the right runner, but a big mistake for me. Lesson learned...

Nice light shoe, but the opening of the shoe is extremely small and tight. Once I got them on, walking seemed spongy and unstable. I was so disappointed that I returned them.
