When I purchased these shoes, I wasn't aware that they had old style shoelaces, as opposed to the pull string kind on my other Salomon runners. I now have removed the laces and will source out the pull string replacements. The shoes were photographed in such a way that you didn't notice the old style laces.

I wore these in the Allegheny mountains in Northwest Pa and NY. Excellent footing, water repelled off, feet warm and dry. This is my second pair.

Since getting my first pair over 5 years ago I wear nothing else. They are the best for trails where I find my happy place. Even if my feet are tired or sore, they are comfortable in my Salomons. I am 68 years old and these shoes are my new best friend.

They are comfortable and waterproof and seem well made.

I like these shoes so much that I'm buying a second pair. They were comfortable right out of the box. They are very waterproof. I've hiked many miles in the redwoods in the rainy winter on muddy, flooded trails as well as wearing them in snow and my feet stayed cozy and dry. They seem durable and well made. Great traction on wet slippery rocks. Very happy with them.

Hiked in the Azores for a week, over 40 miles often in mud or running water and my feet stayed bone dry and comfortable. Perfect choice.

I had a pair of Solomon hiking shoes that were at least 20 years old that I finally had to replace. I was worried this new pair would not be nearly as comfortable but they were perfect right out of the box. Im not in love with the color, but it was on sale and now I think the shoe looks fine. Have worn these shoes on up to five mile hikes and rocky and wet terrains and am pleased with the performance.

So comfortable! & versatile shoe. Obsessed! I can stand on my feet all day in these without any issues. I even use them for biking, the waterproof durability gives it the versatility that I need.

Absolutely love these! I walk all day for my job and we hike. They are light weight, fit great, and the higher cut is really comfortable (I was searching for a low cut). Should get another!

Love these. Wore my first pairs for years and now just got a new pair. I hike often and these have great tread and are conde right away.

I bought these especially for a trip to Hawai'i, where I'd be doing some light hiking. Well, that "light hiking" turned muddy and slippery due to unusual levels of rain on Kauai. These shoes were superstars. As with my other 3 pairs, these took no breaking in at all. I'm a fan of these and will be back for more!

I'm on my second pair and they better keep making them as I plan to wear them until I can't walk r hike anymore!! Toe box is perfect with plenty of room, no pinch points and also no break in time, just lace them up and away you go. I use my custom orthotics in them as well.

My first pair of Salomon. Great, comfortable hikers

I've worn these in all kinds of terrain; volcanic lava, rainforest hikes, desert hikes, forest trails, beach sand, loose gravel, ice tunnels, paved (sort of) trails and all kinds of dry and wet weather. They are always comfortable, adjust to different sock thicknesses, and are always ready for the next adventure. I've never been disappointed with these shoes. Very highly recommended.

My second pair , I absolutely love my Salomon's ! Always comfortable

I have won my shoes once hiking and they have a firm grip on the loose rock. The fit is perfect, and shoes are comfortable

I had the X Ultra for about 7 years and they functioned as a great sneaker/hiking shoe throughout the national parks and beyond. These are very comfortable. However I have a narrow foot and this new version is a bit boxy and stiffer. I think the stiffness may be because they are waterproof and the last pair were not. I am willing to get used to that since being waterproof is a nice plus. These will be more of a hiking shoe for me, not a soft, flexible sneaker, which is fine.

I love, love, love Salomon hiking shoes, unfortunately this pair did not hold up. They basically disintegrated on my feet, the soles wore all the way through, and the inside of heels ripped apart. I expect more from these boots.

I received these hikers in October and wear them daily to walk my dogs. I love Salomon hikers and I do love these but they have the worst cat urine smell in them. I changed out the insole but the smell permeates throughout the inside of the shoes. I live in PA so it's not like it's been summer weather and my feet have been sweating.

heels lift up, feels tight around toes and wider part of foot

I should have paid attention to the other reviews. The heel section is very high, more than it is on my older shoes. Not able to wear this version since it rubs on my ankle bones. Return process was easy and quick.

I've had this shoe for three months now. I bought it to replace a pair of Salomon GTX ultra low I had which they didn't have a replacement for at the time of this review. The shoe is great for lateral movement. Nice toe box. But it's hot. Like really hot. This has never been I've something even considered before. They also ride really high on the heel. And overall they are a BIG shoe. Not my favorite. When these are done I will look for elsewhere for a replacement.
