I bought these shoes just over a week before a 3-day, 61km hiking trip through Algonquin park in Ontario, Canada (mixed terrain). This boot performed so well! The boots are comfortable and have a wide-toe box, which I really like. I didn't have a lot of time to break them in before I left, so I was worried about my feet. I did use Ininji toe sock liners and wool socks inside them and am happy to report that I didn't get any blisters. There were lots of muddy patches on the hike and a few very shallow stream/beaver dam crossings. My feet stayed dry in these shoes. The toe protection also worked really well on any pesky rocks or roots that I tripped slightly on. My toes were happy and not damaged. There was a lot of elevation on this trip (approx 1900 metres up) and a lot of the hills were very steep (no switchbacks). I found I could trust the grip on these boots on those climbs and across slippery rocks and logs. The only reason I have given this shoe 4 starts instead of 5 is that I did feel like it could have used slightly more padding inside the sole of the shoe. I could really feel the terrain under my feet, which was helpful for proprioception and balance, but I think contributed to very tired feet at the end of my hiking days. All in all, a really great, lightweight boot, and worth the purchase. I'm looking forward to wearing them on the Tour du Mont Blanc in the fall!

Love these in every way. Most of all comfort. I have a wider flatter foot and these pro wide the right kind of support for comfortable, hot spot free walking that does not aggravate my over pronation and just feels “normal” as I walk or hike. I returned this pair because for now I opted for the low cut version of Outpulse. These mid cut ones would be great for winter but I was looking for a more three season pair. Between the Gore Tex and ankle padding I knew these would be too warm for my current needs. Also the way the ankle part laces to me is insufficient keeping the tongue far from my leg which exposes that area to debris while hiking. Wish it had two rows of lacing above the ankle and not just one. If I could have I would have kept both the low and mid pairs. Both have the exact same features otherwise. So glad to have discovered Salomon footwear through Zappos.

Pretty good upon try-on. Have not hiked in them only walked in my house. The ankle padding seems soft but beware- without high socks it is very rough as it rubs your ankle. With socks, fine. Also that padding is very thick and almost too much as you cinch the laces at the ankle. Looks odd. Would prefer a padded leather ankle that is smooth and soft, and that doesn’t look overstuffed when you conch it with the tongue. Colors are beautiful. True to size and generous in width. I might need to size down to my usual size - ordered a 9 for starters, which is larger than my shoe size. Sole is good, these seem to marry up style with function very nicely.

Comfortable shoes. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with my Salomon OUTpulse hiking shoes. Just before starting my hime at the trailhead, the outer edge of the sole of the right shoe unglued and started to come off. Thankfully, I had my old shoes with me and was able to complete the hike. I've been using Salomon shoes for a long time and I've been happy with the quality of their products. I'm quite disappointed with the OUTpulse hiking shoes, as I've only used them three times.

These shoes make me nearly invincible and I'm completely devoted. I've had them for a year, replacing a heavier boot from another brand when I moved to the Rocky Mountains. They fit true to size and have a great toe box for all the ups and downs I tackle. The tread is amazing for mixed terrain, the GTX has never let me down through countless mountain streams, and they are so lightweight that my stamina and distance surprises me. I had plantar fasciitis over the winter, and the sole of these was as comfortable as the upgraded insoles I put in my sneakers. While I bought these for day hikes, they're so effortless and stable that I even wear them on multi-day backpacking trips. The light colors show dust easily, but that has so far just encouraged me to clean and maintain my boots better. Lightweight vs. durable will always be a balancing act, but the OUTpulse Mid meets my needs well. Salomon customer service is stellar too and the boots have a 2 year warranty, so I don't understand the negative reviews, but I suppose all feet are different. I'll be putting my feet in THESE as long as I can!

I added arch support and a supportive insole and I’m in love with these shoes! Plenty of room in the toe box.

These boots took me over spring trails in Colorado and Oregon--meaning that they performed in both dry AND (very) soggy conditions. I was pleased with how dry and comfortable my feet stayed in all conditions, and loved the fashionable feel. From 1-8 mile-long hikes, I have loved these boots in the 2 months I've had them. (Also love that they fit true-to-size.)

I really like the fit of these shoes because I have a high arch, wide foot and narrow ankle.

This hiking shoe is extremely comfortable and fits my narrow feet. Most hiking boots are too wide/big for me.

I feel like most all hiking shoes require a little room for socks so my usual size 10 feet tried on a 10.5 with hiking socks and they fit perfectly. I don’t have much to say about these. I wasn’t a fan of the look at all. They felt pretty stiff. I’m used to my Altra Lone Peak lows but I don’t like the noisy Lone Peak All Weather mids. This is my second pair of Salomons I’ve tried on and both have gone back. These just felt like any old shoe and they weren’t especially comfortable. I’m scared to take them on any distance if I don’t like them in my kitchen. The blue color is pretty.

The boot started to fall apart after only 5 hikes, and 60km. Ridiculous. Attached photos; the plastic is tearing off near the toe-- goodbye waterproofing. This happened on a hike with a light scramble, but the tear wasn't there until the last 3km of the hike which was on a flat gravel surface. Beyond this, the tread looks like it's literally crumbling off in the high use zones (the area near the toes for me). There's no way these could last a season...in my case they barely made it a month.

I am so happy with these boots. They were comfortable from the minute I put them on. They are less stiff and structured than I expected, but this has made them extremely comfortable for city walking as well as day hikes. No chafing, no blisters! I haven't had them out in pouring rain yet. The sole has been a little less "grippy" on wer trail footing than other boots but it's not been an issue at all yet. I am curious to see how they do in extremely wet weather.

Use these off trails with a heavy pack in mountainous areas of Montana and loved them. They are very comfortable and still sturdy enough. They aren't super waterproof but that makes them breathable. Great summer to fall, responsive hikers!

Ordered several pairs, in different sizes. Really wanted them to fit, but the fit was awkward, and they pressed across the toes with every flex/step. Sad to return them.
I'd also recommend:

I've been wearing these on the trails now for a few months and absolutely love them. I have had multiple ankle reconstructions and finding a comfortable hiking shoe is a challenge. For my own needs I replaced the insole with a hiking-specific one. Today I beat them up with elevation, mud, water, etc. and felt safe and my feet stayed dry. I'm an L.L.Bean employee, but I've worn multiple different boots from various brands over the years and these are definitely top.

I bought these for a trip to Europe and packing my heavy hiking boots wasn't an option. I wore them for the first time hiking the Calanques in France. They were exactly what I needed, super comfortable, good traction and provided me with enough ankle stability.

I bought my first pair of mid range hikers over 10 years ago and they've been my go to for EVERYTHING! I've hiked a million miles and am just now really needing a new pair! Yes they're pricey but with this shoe I absolutely know you get your money's worth!

I loved how light this boots were, they didn't feel like boots. It had a cushioned heel, which I really liked. Unfortunately, when I tried them out, my feet ached where they always do if a shoe isn't wide enough in the toe box.

These are heavy. I ordered a 9.5 and it is too large for me even with my orthotics in. I think they will rub my ankle bones and cause blisters. Not as ‘cushy’ as I wanted.
