Great for everyday use. I got these hiking shoes for traveling in hot temperatures (South East Asia). I'm very pleased with them. They are durable, provide great support, and breath really well.

Love the X Ultra shoes. Ultra 3 boots were a great purchase. Now, with this Pioneer Aero shoe, I have another great fitting hikling (and all-round) shoe. Heel fits snugly and size is correct.

Love this shoe, fits great like all Salomon shoes I've purchased.

This shoe feels great, and it has a snug fit. Stability is good enough for light trails or long days on your feet.

I've not yet worn these, other than to try them on. I bought them as fair-weather shoes, and w/ snow and slush still the order of the day in the Midwest, the Aeros are taking a back seat to my XA PRO 3D v8's. That said, they fit my feet extremely well, something that's not easy to find when you have feet as narrow as mine.

Some Salomon shoes have been too rigid for my liking, but these are spot on! Great color combination as well! BFFF...Best Foot Friends Forever!

I have slightly wider feet and Salomon has always been a great fit. I hike a bit and unlike other shoes, these stay together over the rock gardens. Good for everyday use as well as I tend to do one pair for everything and I am hard on shoes. Other brands last me about a month or two these got for six months to a year.

Solid foundation for hike and run. Deep tread, easy on and off, and good support.

I am may be three or so dozen pairs of Salomon's over the years, but only a few without their amazing quick-lace system. I was hesitant to buy these because I don't typically like this style lacing. I sure am glad I pulled the trigger on them! These shoes might be the most comfortable pair of Salomon's I own. Perfect level of cushion vs firmness. I love how they're cushioned yet still have a firm sole so you don't feel every rock on the trail. The colors are absolutely perfect as well. I love the brown and gray so much!

Ive found Salomon x cress to give me instant relief from stubborn planters fasciitis. I couldnt cress in 10.5 anywhere them so bought the Pioneers which are also working well.

I have purchased several hikers like the Pioneer, low and over the ankle boot over many years. Have had the Pioneer about one month. Shoe construction, Contrgrip sole, fit and materials seem to the usual high grade and support I have come to expect from Salomon. One issue with the Pioneer is the short length of the shoe tongue causing the laces to occasionally slip under it while in movement. Other item is the quick lace system is no longer a feature.

I purchased a pair of X ULTRA POINEER hiking shoes. I expected that they would come with quick laces, but they arrived with regular tie laces. The shoes fit great, but I wish they had the desired laces.

First of all, I think they look very good and they are also very comfortable, from day one. Having said that, I think on summer days they tend to make my feet a bit hot, comparable to regular running shoes. But of course they are more rugged, so that is expected. I also used them on a rainy day and and had my sockets wet, so don't expect them to be waterproof either. I haven't used on trails, so I don't have an opinion about that honestly. All in all I am satisfied with the product!

Buy these for multi day hicking on rugged trails. Good fit and arch support.

They were Half size too small for my dad I would order a half size bigger

Previously a big fan of Saloman hiking footwear, these seem different. Not especially comfortable, they feel a little cheap on the foot, flat and lacking arch support. I do like the grippy sole though

It hurts to say this but this shoe is just... okay. This is coming from a brand loyalist of the first order. I've had dozens of pairs of Solomon mens shoes. For years the XA PRO 3D V8 was my shoe of choice as a work shoe for my life as a carpenter and stagehand in the entertainment industry. Then several years ago the your designers dropped most of the styles of the XA Pro 3D v8 and adopted the remarkably ugly color scheme of all black and quasi military green. Unfortunately all the unisex sport models with interesting color schemes are only available up to size 12. As a mens 14 wide you leave me with some really dreadful options. Also you've also changed the material and assembly process and that model got more narrow and somehow generally just inferior in quality. I've written to your company before and begged you to re-infuse the design aesthetic and color pallet of the XA PRO 3D V8. In truth the only reason I buy the X Ultra Pioneer is out of some misguided sense of loyalty to the memory of what your product once was. I find the pioneer to be just slightly more aesthetically pleasing than the horrifically ugly Black/Black/ Magnet XA PRO 3D V8. It is a poor substitute to the shoe that I fell in love with more that a decade ago. Sadly the X Ultra Pioneer runs ridiculously narrow, has a really dated color pallet and with its traditional (and impossible to keep tight) round laces feels and looks like a mediocre Merell from 2010.
