Wore it a few times when the temperature dipped into single digits. Used a light base layer and had to unzip a little because I got too warm. Nice weight , but not too bulky & the fit is perfect. Color and fabric really made it a special winter coat! I say, " Old Man Winter bring it on ! "

Looking for a go-to all purpose winter coat? This would be a really good choice. It's well made with strong zippers. The hand pockets are lined, very comfortable. Nice arm length and the wrists have velcro adjustments and a silky smooth inner sleeve. I wear large shirts but large in this coat for me is too big, medium is just fine with room for layers (5'7 170lb). It's longer than my older coats, which is good, now my back side is warm and dry too. A note on colors: the yellow/green kinda grows on you, looks better in person than in the picture-blends with the environment when hiking. The 2 tone orange is nice too, not too loud, pleasant. My wife picked the blue one for me, I wanted to keep all three as I couldn't choose... The only change I would make to the coat(and yes, there's always something!)is the adjustment on top of the hood. It has a pull cord with a lock. When adjusted for a more snug fit to the head, the cord just dangles on the back side of the hood, not very classy. Eliminate the cord and use a simple velcro strap like on the Maine Wardens Parka. There you have it!

This has been the best working jacket I've had maybe ever. Keeps me very warm in very cold weather. Seems pretty durable, though haven't really beaten it up too bad either. In any case it's served very well in rain, snow, and icy weather.

My favorite parka. Very warm, comfortable with full cut sizing, but not too bulky. I wear it every cold winter day, from shoveling snow, walking, running errands, shopping..very versatile parka. I purchased the two toned blue parka..great colors.

This parka was purchased for a disabled man with sensory issues who needs a quality fit, comfort and excellent protection from the elements. It is exemplary in all aspects. It's a wonderful parka and I hope LL Bean will continue to offer it.

This is the standard parka - I have had more than one - comfortable in cold, rain or snow - have even used on basic ski slopes. Hard to go wrong with this.

Probably the finest mid weight + coat I have ever owned. Not too warm at 40 degrees but very comfortable when the temp drops into the single digits. Nice extra length with snow cuffs and is very easy on or off. This coat is way above the other "Big Names", yet with a much fuller cut for extra layers.

Moving from AZ to Maine, I needed a coat that was light and warm. When this coat came in, my wife's comment was that it was too light to be as warm as my much heavier model that I have had for a number of years. Well, she was wrong. This should be the last coat I will need. Great product, excellent service, and a fair value--well-done Bean!

Finally found a coat that I actually like. Other major brands were always either too bulky, restrictive, or just did not fit well. This one is just about perfect. Light, yet really warm. Waterproof, but seems to be breathable. Cinches at the waist and at the bottom to stop the wind. Cuffs have an inside cuff that is totally nonintrusive, but holds the sleeve in place and keeps wind out. Hood is removable and totally adjustable so you can wear it with or without a hat. Plenty of pockets inside and out. Just overall a great everyday, every occasion, every weather condition coat.

I've been looking for a WARM winter coat for a couple of years, and have discovered that you get what you pay for. I bought a couple of cheaper ($50-75) ones from some other companies, and they just didn't keep me warm enough when I was outside. I finally decided to check LLBean out. Based on the reviews I got this coat, and have been completely satisfied. I wore it last weekend to the Patriots game Saturday night (around 20 degree weather with flurries) and I didn't feel the cold at all.

I got this coat as a replacement for the 3 season jacket I previously had. Every LL Bean item I have purchased has been rugged and comfortable. This Parka is super warm and comfortable to wear. I can't believe how lite weight it is compared to my older jacket. I could wear this out ice fishing all day and stay toasty warm and then wear it out to dinner at night because it's a great looking jacket also. I recommend this parka to anyone who needs to stay warm and stylish at the same time.

Purchased primarily for skiing in New England. Overkill for most other activities including shoveling and around town, unless it's bitter cold out then I'm glad I bought it. Jacket kept my torso and neck warm in 0 degree F + hard winds many times over the two seasons I've had it - I have found myself sweating pretty good in it after a few hours of hard carving while wearing a thermal layer & flannel underneath this jacket in temperatures over 10F. It's completely windproof with no armpit vents, so dress accordingly. As a bonus it's actually very fluffy and provides a little bit of a cushion if you happen to fall on the trails. Cuffs are a bit finicky with certain types of mittens - they're very tight and it can be hard to get your mittens tucked back into them if you find yourself having to take them off. There's a roomy chest pocket on the outside and the front hand pockets are very soft. Only suggestions would be to make the cuff openings a little bit bigger (they're adjustable with a Velcro strap) and put a ski pass window on either the chest or sleeve for easier use.

For one thing, it's lighter than the last one I had which was way too heavy..to me at least. The anti-powder cuffs have been improved also, they're further up into the sleeve, so they don't get in the way of my gloves. the cuff's themselves have extra velcro on the sleeve, so when you tighten it, there's no flap of extra material sticking out. They did not improve the hood though, which is no real big deal, but after you zip it, and fasten it in place, there is a 3 inch gap on each side of the zipper. The gaps are kind of sealed by the collar, so I don't know how much heat loss would actually escape. I don't normally use the hood, so no biggie. So far, I like it a lot over the last one I had, and still toasty. You need to layer up just like any other parka too. Thanks LLBean

Met all of my expectations - a splendid medium weight, roomy jacket that is large enough for a second layer underneath. Great for dog walks on cold, snowy or rainy days - but use a second layer for 20 below days. Outstanding value.

I purchased this coat for our cold Montana winters when I needed an everyday coat for running errands, going to/from work etc. Shortly after purchasing this parka our winter really kicked in and we had temps as low as -35 and never above 20 degrees for 3 weeks straight so I had some good sampling of weather in order to test drive this parka. When I first opened the package I thought that this jacket was so light there was no way it'd keep me warm in our cold weather. That myth was quickly dispelled as this jacket is warm in cold temps with just a long sleeve t-shirt. Of course different people handle cold differently but for me this was plenty warm. The slightly longer length in the back was welcomed to not let cold air in at the wait. Storage abounds with the two hand pockets, the chest pocket, a zippered inside pocket plus several other places to store ski goggles etc. I am please with the money spend vs. what I received and have already recommended this to several other people.

This is my second Rugged Ridge parka. I purchased my first one 8 years ago and it's served me well and proven to be very durable. I'm only purchasing a new one because I wanted a larger size. It's kept me dry on those rainy days on the mountain and warm when the temperature falls below zero. It has a relaxed fit which allows me to add one or two extra layers if needed. It has plenty of pockets to carry my gear when I'm out skiing.
