This replaced my twenty something year old Rugged Ridge Parka that definitely served me well. The stuffing in my old one wasn't what it once was and I had also lost a good amount of weight since I originally brought it. I will admit that I am a woman but originally brought the men's version years ago and again this time because I do a lot of walking, waiting for public transit, etc. and that little bit of extra length works really well. I also have a bigger frame. This new one fits just like the old one (albeit I did go down a size this time due to the weight loss). I had to get used to pockets being in different places but now it is just as much of my "old friend" as the old one was. I hope I get as long out of this one - and as many compliments (no one could ever guess it was not a woman's coat).

Very nice coat. I'm 6'5" & 260 lbs. and the 2XL Tall fit perfectly. Got to try it out on the ski slope in CO this year -- stayed plenty warm in high winds and a heavy snowstorm. Lots of very usable pockets, too. Glad to have found this!

Rugged Ridge Parka (Men's Regular). Five out of Five Stars. Just what I wanted! Fits great, very comfortable, I like the colors and pockets. It is well constructed and I expect to get many years of use from it. I'm 5'7" and 178 lbs. and I bought the Large Regular size My previous LL Bean Rugged Ridge Parka lasted over 25 years before the zipper failed (and I'm going to send it back to LL Bean to get the zipper replaced). I've had it out in some wet snow, sleet, and drizzle and it is very water repellent (Fairfax, VA, March). The inside left breast pocket is good for a large cell phone. the outside left breast pocket (media pocket?) is a great place for a FRS (Family Radio Service) walkie talkie, or a HAM mobile (my ICOM 51A fits in the pocket with room to spare). While my new Rugged Ridge Parka is super, one thing I'd like in a future Ridge Parka that I had in my previous Ridge Parka was an additional pair of outer pockets - one for my goggles, and one for my watch cap.

Jacket saved my life up in Michigan visiting my sister. She made me go with her to walk the dog. I was warm and enjoyed the time with my sister.

Just what I needed: medium weight, good fit and coverage, plenty warm for most cold days here in West Texas.

My husband is very pleased with this coat. It has lots of useful pockets beyond the "usual"( it was made with a lot of thought towards how someone might need to use it beyond just warmth and cover in bad weather). The colorblock is flattering and fun; the fit is very good and the warmth is just what he wanted. Unfortuneaely! We're going through another warm spell of temps over 20 degrees above normal, and he hasn't had as much opportunity to wear it as he'd like!

I ordered this coat from the catalog, and was concerned when I received it that it wouldn't be very warm. It's very light and not very bulky. (but very comfortable) However, I was surprised at how warm it really is. It may not be as warm as the Baxter State Parka, which I also own, but it's pretty close. This is a great all around coat for winter. It's comfortable to wear in the car as well as when you're outside for extended periods.

Islander - 5'10" 190, size Large Just got the Rugged Ridge to replace a decade-old version of the same coat. Feels a little lighter. Finally, we got some very cold and wet and miserable weather to test it out. Cold - real temp 25, feels like temp 2. Toasty warm - and windproof. Rainy day, 35 windy, medium rain, warm and dry after a mile walk. I use the coat to walk our dog and do wildlife photography.

Before I made the decision to purchase this parka, I evaluated several others. The Rugged Ridge Parka fits perfectly with my needs. I would most certainly recommend LL BEAN for your outdoor activities and the style and quality are excellent.

Christmas gift for our adult son. Would have preferred the blue color, but sold out on-line. Purchased the gray/black coat at our local L. L. Bean store. The coat looks so good on him; good coverage of the buttocks area, great pockets, and nice hood. He was always a waist coat type, but now that he works outdoors quite a bit - likes the change to a coat with more length. Now for how it wears - time will tell! We try to get 4 to 6 winters out of a coat. It is usually a zipper that is the first thing to fail.

It keeps me warm. I moved to Wyoming from Kansas and knew I needed a replacement for my L.L. Bean coat that I've worn for the past 30 years. I wanted something that was both waterproof and windproof. Kansas winter wind is one thing but Wyoming winter wind is a whole new type of cold. This coat with cord adjustments is a serious contender.

The Rugged Ridge Parka is well worth it for warmth & quality. I did not want a down parka & the Rugged Ridge works well.

As usual for LLBean, this parka is very well made. There is a great combination of roomy zippered and mesh pockets on the inside and outside, and the detachable hood is a great feature. Very warm without being bulky, and the length is just right for me.

This is a great jacket. I ski in temperatures as low as -15* with the windchill factor and I only wear a baselayer and lightweight fleece under the jacket and am toasty warm, both down the hill and up on the lift. It is well constructed with a cuff at the end of the sleeve as well as closers at the sleeve. the goggle cleaning cloth is a great feature as well as the zip off hood. The only thing I would like it to have is a skirt inside to help keep the wind and snow out. It does have tighteners both at the waist and the bottom of the jacket and they are great, I just like the skirt.

I bought this coat because my wife and I were going to take a trip to Norway. We went in the winter and this cost kept me very comfortable. It met all my expectations. I would highly recommend it to anyone else.

This coat is everything I was looking for - max protection for blowing snow at home and travel in the cold mountains. Recently had the chance to really test it, we had about five days of near or below zero degree (F) here in Denver. I ventured to shovel a light snowfall and stayed toasty warm with a sweatshirt, this coat and scarf, hat, and gloves. Quality and good style.
