The Moab Shoe is undoubtedly the best all time Merrell. Please don't change anything about it, I would love to see them in more fun colors. Girls like color and I see most of them are boring in the waterproof or goretex version what I am looking for. I love the sage color of this one.

These shoes are very comfortable and required very little breaking in. I walk 2-3 miles a day and they are great. I plan on doing some longer hikes this fall I think they will be perfect.

This is my second time trying to get this shoe to fit. It’s a very good shoe and would be perfect if I could get the right size, apparently my feet aren’t made for this brand. First I tried 8.5 and my toe hit the end of the shoe. Next I ordered size 9 and it was too wide with heel slipping which would be guaranteed blisters after hiking. I’m very glad that Zappos has free shipping and returns since there are no outdoor shops here and the sporting good stores have only a few hikers in the wrong size for me. I haven’t given up though, I’m trying another brand from Zappos of course.

This is an even more comfortable version of the Moab 2. The foot bed is a bit cushier which works for me. Unfortunately they don't carry my size (yet) in the Moab 3.

I have worn these hiking, walking, I just about live in these. They are the most comfortable shoes I own! They go over tree roots, rocks, acorns and I dont feel anything jab me in the foot. What they do provide is firm footing. And they are very good looking shoes as well! I have both a green/ brown pair and the blue pair.

Love the shoes. Took them on a trip to Switzerland. Wanted shoes that we could walk all day in and would work for sidewalks AND mountain trails. We did an 8 mile hike through the mountains and I didnt want to bring a pair of heavy, clompy hiking boots. These were perfect! Lightweight, yet sturdy and very grippy. Didnt slide once and we were definitely on a variety of surfaces.

Bottom line up front: To be as comfrotable as the moab 2, Merrel needs to move back to the Moab 2's insole (Kinetic Fit Advanced Footbed) and slightly soften the mid sole.
Pros of the Moab 3:
It's a good boot that's supportive and fits well. It's grippy and relatively light for a hiking boot.
Cons of the Moab 3:
-> The insole is much worse in the Moab 3 than in the Moab 2. The 2 had a pressed and perforated EVA insole that was very responsive and stayed springy for years of use. The 3 has a blue metatarsal pad which is inlayed into the insole. This portion of the insole is very, very unresponsive and lacks the same amount of cushion and responsiveness as the 2's forefoot insole. After a single day of use, the blue areas on the insole are flat and have no spring. The result is a fit that feels like i'm walking on a hard surface.
In my attached images, I've applied roughly the same pressure to the front of the insert to demonstrate how the Moab 3's insert is very flimsy at the forefoot. The older insole is much more sturdy and spongey in the same area. You can purchase the same kinetic fit insoles as the Moab 2's for extra, but only in whole sizes :(
-> The midsole is stiffer than the Moab 2, and this contributes to the pressure at the heel and the forefoot.
Both of these means the forefoot experiences a ton more pressure and feels much stiffer and less comfortable after walking out of the store. It's more uncomfortable to stand for hours or walk for miles, and it feels like I'm closer to injury at any given point than with the Moab 2.

These are comfortable out of the box, as well as good looking. But they don’t have as much support as the Moab 2. Also, they tend to let in several pebbles as I walk. The 2 let in almost none.

I am new to Morrell and have tried many models and sizes. The sizing is not consistent anda each pair needs to be checked for fit. I got these in 6.5 and the Mids in 7. Both fit with these being bigger overall even though they are the smaller size. They are comfortable except for the tongue pushing on top of my foot. There is a thick flap where the tongue is attached. I tried lacing different ways to flatten it but it's bulky. The Mids do this too but not as much. I am not using them outside yet so I can return if needed but this makes it hard to decide how they will feel on a long walk.Carpetong doesn't give the same results as outside. I want them for daily walks through paved sidewalks or groomed trails. Not sure if this brand is for me. I would like a more reliable sizing and return policy. If I return these I have to pay for the shipping. If I exchange then I can't exchange again so if that pair has the same issue I'm stuck. I have purchased 2 models of winter boots and had similar sizing concerns and the tongue issue as well. The tongue design and inconsistent sizing needs to be fixed.

I have a large bunion and these shoes felt fine. I goofed, though, as I thought I was buying the waterproof Moab 3s and just realized when writing this review that the ones that I bought are not waterproof which is really sad as I bought them for a trip to Iceland where I need a waterproof boot! The waterproof ones look exactly the same but are more expensive. I will need to try to waterproof these myself.
Boots are nice and can go more places than the usual hiking boot (think restaurants.) Happy with the purchase except for the waterproof goof.
I'd also recommend:

The wide width fit my wide foot well. These are comfortable hiking shoes, unfortunately they are just a little too clunky looking for me. I have no doubt they would be a good hiking shoe.

I've bought many Merrell walking shoes and this one is excellent, as I expected it to be, except for one thing: less than three months after I bought it for daily two-to-three mile walks, for no reason I can detect, about an inch of fabric at the the top inner edge of each shoe has worn off. This hasn't happened with any of my other shoes, Merrell or otherwise--that is, i'm not habitually rubbing it or anything.

I have 2 pairs of the Moab 2s from years ago. I wore them out. I bought the Moab 3 in the same size - 9.5. They don't fit at all - too wide, too long, and just too big everywhere. I ordered a size 9 to compare - the 9 was too short, but the width was good. They are still beautiful and very lightweight, and the support was good, but I had to send them both back. Just not the fit I was used too.

The toe area was tight. I'm keeping the 9.5 wide shoe. It was a better fit.

I normally wear a wide but the wide Moab was just too wide and I couldn’t get a good lock down at the heel. I returned and am not sure if I’ll try the standard width as it wasn’t super comfortable anyway.

I bought these to replace my Merrell hikers which were wearing down after years of 2-3 mile walks. These looked exactly the same but the sizing was now US, not European. I walked an hour and found them stiff and uncomfortable. The 2nd time I got blisters. The 3rd time my back and feet hurt from how stiff they were. I went back to my old shoes. I don't remember having to break in my old Merrells. These are too painful to keep. I wish Merrell would take them back.

Both myself and my mother have issues with our feet and have been buying these for the last couple years, they were the best. We both bought another pair for Christmas and the soles are not the same quality as all the others we had, not sure what has changed but definitely won't be buying again

Doesn't fit the same as the Moab 2. Very disappointed that they changed the fitincreased the height of the sides so the shoe rubbed on my ankle bone (lateral malleolus). Will be returning them. I ended up buying a new pair of Moab 2 and they fit perfectly cause they haven't changed them!

Gorgeous hiking shoes!!! The rose color is stunning and they feel so sturdy. I usually wear a 9.5 in women’s however I know that Merrell usually runs a half a size small. I purchased the women’s 10 and it fit perfectly.
