I've been wearing Merrils for about 20 years, I was an electrician when I began wearing them. I like the look of these, and they are very breathable because of all the open space. However, the footbed/sole is the most inexpensive feeling that I've ever worn. It's not uncomfortable per se, it's that the sole is not the standard rubber, it's almost like a foam blend. It doesn't feel nearly as comfortable as the standard foot bed, it's fine for now, but I paid $89 for these, and they have a similar feeling sole as cheap box-store brand shoes. I'm not returning them as I've worn them for about two weeks outside now, but based on the mild use in the last two weeks of me wondering around the beach and whatnot, I'm not convinced these will last the summer. I wouldn't buy these again and I won't keep future pairs that have this footbed/sole material.

These are not waterproof at all as the sides have large air holes. I think what they must mean is they can go in the water...not sure. Not all that comfortable barefoot. Ok with socks.
I'd also recommend:

I've had my pair for about a week of daily walking and these are the most comfortable sandals I've ever had. I heartily recommend them.

Living in the Cumberland Mtns provided numerous hikes to waterfalls & beautiful overlooks. One is the "Old Stone Fort in Manchester, TN, there is no actual fort. It's an old Indian ceremonial ground with a trail around the perimeter. It's shaded, flat and a creek runs next to the trail. I have a few pairs of Merrells. I like the Accentor 3, it's light, airy & stable, I'm even starting to wear them running errands, I love them

Really like the mesh/sandal shoes with quickset stretch laces. I have really high insteps and the elastic laces quickly adjust to have well distributed and comfortable tightness. I've started adding quickset elastic laces (1/4" or 5"16" thick) to my other shoes -- so much more comfortable than regular laces.

Performed well in the Panamanian rain forest!! They held up to a week of rock scrambling, muddy trails and numerous stream treks. They cinch up tight enough to assure solid footing while letting wet feet dry. Make sure that you break them in before your first hike as they're somewhat stiff initially, overall a great hiking shoe!

Wore these for hikes and ATV excursions through rain forest and jungles of Costa Rica. Comfortable fit, good support and great non-marking good no. Slip soles. Did not squeak on hard surfaces.

Received shoes as described, I always use inserts for my Plantars fasciitis, which made the sandle a bit tight so I used my 3/4 pair and worked out great. Love these sandles.

I bought these for a trip to Hawaii where I knew we would be doing several wet hikes and kayaking. Shoes performed great hiking several miles per day, over rocks, and mostly in the wet. They run a little large (I wear a 12 in athletic shoes and had do drop down to 11), the return process was easy, and I'm glad I had these on my trip.

Great for hiking near creeks and riverbeds. Also good for keeping by the door inside house for a quick slip on for going outside.

Shoes are great, box not so much. Fortunately there was no visible damage to shoes. Box was trashed and crushed upon arrival.

Had my first pair with vibram sole, kind of miss that trademark but the new soles work well in water and rock. Hiked Mt. Baldy and Cucamonga Creek to make sure.
