I like the fit and footbed of the Moab 3 but very disappointed in how quickly the inside heel liner has worn out, right through to the external material. The shoe itself still as a lot of useful life, but the shoe repair shop says no way to fix the heel, which is in a condition that can cause blisters. So now looking for another brand with hopefully more durable materials.

Disappointment
Comfortable shoe, however they are the worst walking shoes I've bought if you have to walk on wet rocks, it's like walking on oil, if you use them on trails it's is correct, on the other hand impossible to walk on rocks,

Great shoes. Well made and good looking. Unfortunately a bit too tight (narrow) around my toes
As a result i can't wear them all day.

These ran smaller and narrower than usual for Merrell. I’m usually a men’s 10 and would like to size up, however Zappos wants an extra $50 to exchange for a different size. Very unreasonable. Questioning whether to keep shopping with Zappos.

Comfortable, but the left shoe was not waterproof. With a name like Merrell you think the quality would be outstanding. Never had a pair of Timberlands that I had a problem with the waterproof membrane. Bought these in an outlet store, that might be the reason why, maybe they only get seconds, or junk to sell.

These were not comfortable at all for me. I needed a wide-toe box and these were constraining. They were very stiff and heavy on the sole (like a work boot) and oddly puffy, heavy, and stiff up top. Felt like they would also be hot with the way the fabric's top layer was constructed. There was not enough mid-sole flex for uphill hiking and rocky trails requiring a lot of mid-foot flexibility.
I'd also recommend:

I usually get a full year from Merrells ... this pair had a lace support snap yesterday .. I only got 8 months. I only wear them to work (factory / office) - and only 5 days per week. I think the quality has gone down ... but the price certainly hasn't.

I’ve had Merrill’s that fit and ones that don’t. Very inconsistent size parameters between models. I don’t understand it. My partner has the same problem. But Merrill makes good shoes when you can find the one that fits just right. Not patient enough this time.

This is probably my 4th Merrell runner & the first that didn't feel like a slipper from the get-go. The stitches on the top of my foot dig into the skin like little spikes. They are not as pliable as my past shoes. I am disappointed, but hope that a breaking in period will help.

What used to fit like a glove for many many renditions of the shoe, it has been redesigned and now after all these years of happy feet I no longer wear what were my go to shoe.

The sizing changed - I ordered replacements, these were a half size two small and they hurt my feet (wherein my previous Moab 3s were perfect up and down for hundreds of miles).

I was happy with the comfort and the durability until my feet got wet. First season. Not waterproof!

They are stiff and unflexible. I've had 3 pairs of Merrells and these were the most expensive. I think I will refrain from purchasing shoes online when I can't try them on before buying.

This is the third pair of Moab I have purchased. The other two pairs I wore out. This fit fine out of the box, I like that they are waterproof, with a vibram sole. And I like the look of them. This pair, though, seem to have much less cushion and much stiffer than my previous pairs. Wearing these actually hurt - exacerbated my plantar fasciitis. Walking just barely a mile, I end up in pain. My old pairs never did that.

I'm extremely disappointed in these shoes. They are not waterproof, perhaps water resistant. I have had many previous pairs of Moab hikers, the quality has gone downhill. After wearing these shoes the day after overnight rain, walking around my lawn for three or four hours, the grass around 5 inches high, my feet are wet. No previous pairs of Moab hikers had this problem. I have only had the shoes for 6 weeks.

This is the third pair of Merrell Moab 3 Waterproof I've tried that are defective. Material on the inside of one of each pair of shoes was put in improperly. First pair had problem with the heel. Second pair problem where foot hits the the toe, third pair problem above the right top of toe. Happy to report i just kept trying and FINALLY got a pair that was not defective. Been buying these shoes for years so very disappointed they no longer seem to be checking the quality.

Disappointing. This shoe was used—soiled. Expected new. Didn’t bother to even try on.

I bought this pair of shoes less than two weeks ago. I had the Goretex version of these previously and wore them for years without issue. In fact I really loved those shoes and they were extremely versatile. Sadly these shoes do not live up to my previous pair. Within two days the shoes smelled horribly due to having poor ventilation. I have tried airing out the insole every evening but they continue to smell. I would not recommend these shoes.

I have worn Merrell shoes for over 15 years now and specifically the Moab low cut hiking shoe as my everyday out in the elements since they have been available. Unfortunately this will be my last pair as the quality is terrible. The last three pairs of Moab 3 waterproof have had nothing but issues on the front of the shoe and inside the heal. Within a few months of wear the rubber sole will peel back from the tip of the shoe or the front surround will become detached. My latest pair bought in November of 2023 have the stitching at the front surround already fraying and I expect the surround will soon start to come detached. My last two pairs have had the same issue where the heal of the interior liner gets loose creating an irritating feel when worn. Such a shame this once quality shoe has become an over priced third rate product.

DO NOT BUY THIS MOAB STYLE IF YOU WANT TO GET REPLACEMENT LACES
This is my third pair of Moabs after buying the brown style twice previously. It is a great shoe but I need to replace the laces and have not been able to find a match to the grey style laces. This also included the supplier recommended by Merrell. As it is, I have had to buy a lace that really does not look good.

You just can't find a better go-to pair of shoes than these Moab 3 waterproof Hikers!! Perfect fit and finish, and will protect your feet from anything you can throw at them. On the beach and on the trails I absolutely love the quality & function. Stay with the Vibram Soles on any of the Merrell's and you will be rewarded with excellent grip, cushioning, and insulation.
