I never give 5 stars for anything because I believe there's always room for improvement . I an giving 5 stars because after 15 years of wearing the Moab 2 shoe I was not expecting the Moab 3 to be better designed and fit better but they do. I hope Merrell continues making the Moab 3 and thank you Zappos for a great buying experience. I couldn't be happier if they paid me to write this, which they didn't.

I got these shoes a while back but did not have a chance to try them out. I recently visited my Daughter and her Husband in Eureka Ca. and we went on several day hikes in the beautiful California north. These Merrells really work for me. I have had others from them but I really like the light weight, aggressive tread and the low top. Excellent traction and comfort. Good stuff!

Similar to the moab 2, fits great and this one is already my new daily shoe. Went for the non-goretext option for hotter weather here. Previous moab2 was goretex and they would get pretty hot. Having used both the vented and waterproof, I'll be going with the vented going forward.

I have several pairs of Merrel hiking boots. I stand for 10 hours while at work, these give my feet the comfort I need while working long hours on my feet. I also have a pair that I use to fish in. Theyre great for both. They fit really well, are comfortable to wear.

I was so happy that these hiking shoes came in wide! My husband has a wide foot and usually has to size up, just to fit the width, but for these hikers we were able to order his true size in a wide. Once he put them on he said they felt very wide. Which is a good thing, because he always blows out the side toe area of his shoes. I asked him again today how he was feeling about these and he said they were great. They make his feet look actually smaller than usual. The color is great because even when they get dirty, they don't look dirty.

these are great for walking and hiking. these are my fifth pair. I like them most because of the firm sole and elevated toe which means less pain in my toe joints. Also I find these have the best fit available with the wide toe box and because the instep fits better than many of the other competitor shoes. I also like that these are ventilated and my feet don't get wet from sweat (they aren't waterproof - I have another pair that I use if I need that.)

These are slippery and not waterproof. For the price and advertisement, you'd think you were getting a better boot. I feel like towing them out. Every time I wear them is a disappointment.

i have difficulty finding shoes that fit because i wear a size 5 Wide. Most shoes don't offer shoes that small. Fortunately Merrill does. I love my new sneakers. It's nice to wear shoes that fit and do not pinch my toes!

I have been buying these for many years, extremely satisfied.I have a big Husky dog, and he needs a lot of walks. We go about 6 miles a day, and 3 to 4 miles of this are at the state park with rugged trails.
I also wear the same shoes for mountain biking, they are very supportive and work well wit the pins on my flat pedals.
I wear these at work most days, so I really do rack up the miles. I have several pairs, both low and mid, waterproof and breathable, depending on season.
Last year my Fitbit showed that I walked 3,200 miles, and I cycled 3050 miles. I do wear out the soles before I ever wear out the uppers.

These seem good so far, width is good, arch support feels good. I'm going to wear them around the house for a while to make sure they feel good long-term before I decide if they're keepers.

Wasn't sure if they could actually improve the Moab 2 as it was and still is a great boot/shoe. The good news is that they didn't screw up the Moab 3 in the update process now that Wolverine owns the brand. All of the great attributes of the Moab 2 are in the Moab 3. I do prefer the outsole tread design of the Moab 2, but the 3 works well thus far. We'll see how the new, more open lug design holds up over time wear-wise and durability-wise because the Moab 2 outsoles are very durable and long wearing. All in all, they didn't break something that worked and wasn't broken.

These are my work shoes. I work retail and am on my feet 40 hours a week. This is my second pair and they last longer than any other shoes I have tried .
Hiking shoes, these are work shoes!

5* Grip, Comfort and Quality.
I should read the description more carefully, thought these were the waterproof model!!
But despite that I love these shoes.
They really grip well on slick surfaces, I'm convinced that's a function of the "rubber" they use as well as the tread pattern. And warm too in snow though it doesn't claim that!!
They're really comfortable and hold your feet firmly as all Merrell footwear does. Final thought, that's probably because they lace up nicely and apply even pressure all down the tongue of the shoe for maximum comfort.
And as always, perfect stitching, beautifully made.
So I'm delighted... Totally.

Comfortable, good looking, supportive, and true to size. These are an excellent replacement for the Moab 2 that finally gave out after nearly 2 years of near daily wear... they still look great, but the outside of the right toe box let go from the sole. Can't complain. Very modes design changes this time around... have to look very close to tell them apart. I think the insole is a little nicer this time around, but I take them out for orthotics. I wish I could have gotten one of the clearanced Moab 2s but they didn't have any wides left... tried a medium but no way. These seem to run a TINY bit small... in other brands I'm normally in between a 12 & 13 usually W but not always. Usually a 12.5 W is perfect, but sometimes 13 M or 13 W work. But in these Merrill's I'm a perfect 13 W.

I have purchased only Merrell shoes for a decade because they work well with my feet. This is my 3rd pair of Moab 3. They're all a little different but comfortable and excellent fit. The newest have a little better heel.

These are one of the most comfortable hiking shoes I have had so far. The Moab 3 Hiking shoes have excellent foot support and don't feel as hot as some of the other hiking shoes I have. They are very well made and are very easy to wash. I love how comfy they are. We took a four-hour hike, and my feet didn't hurt and felt great. These shoes would also work for work and other activities.
I would buy it again.

I am honestly so glad that I went ahead and purchased these hiking shoes! As an active hiker taking at least 10 hikes a month, I knew it was time to purchase new shoes as my previous shoes just couldn't keep up. After doing tons of research, all fingers pointed to the Merrell MOAB 3 hiking shoes. The reviews were not wrong! Not only are these shoes well made, they are extremely comfy and leave my feet and legs feeling like brand new. On top of that, the shoes look attractive vs. some of the other ones in the market so you never have to worry about not looking stylish! We took a 15 mile hike up in Yosemite few days back and was so glad I had these on the whole time. Even after a few uses of the shoes, the soles look and feel brand new and because of the darker color, they do not tend to get too dirty. I 100% recommend these to anyone looking for investment worthy hiking shoes!

Merrell Moab 3 Hiking Shoes are very comfortable. I have always loved the Merrill brand for shoes. My work shoes are usually Merrill. These hiking shoes have great features including the all new more supportive insole, a softer more cushioned midsole, and a best-in-class Vibram outsole. These shoes are very environmentally friendly utilizing recycled materials in their construction. They are made of pig suede leather and breathable mesh uppers. The laces are 100% recycled. The tongue is bellowed to keep out debris. The have a protective toe cap and a reinforced heel, which has the famous Merrell Air Cushion, which absorbs shock and adds stability. The awesome sole is a Vibram TC5+ outsole designed with a technical compound, which offers overall performance for multisport, outdoor, mountain bike, snow sports, and water sports. Its non-marking formula delivers an all-around balance of grip, traction, durability, and flexibility. The hiking shoe weighs 2lbs-1oz. I love them. They are my new go to hiker. I highly recommend this product.

I'm a huge fan of Merrell's and have been for 20 years. This is a second pair of almost the same older pair I own. Very comfortable, no slippage with the heel, a firm footing when trail hiking and my feet don't get hot and sweaty. Super durable and good for bigger 13K+ mountain trail hikes, and also great just for flat dirt trail hikes on some of our favorite 3 to 10 mile routes in the Texas heat. Awesome shoes.

Merrell's MOAB 3 hiking boots are almost unbelievably lightweight, but that doesn't mean they are flimsy. Very well made, and loaded with thoughtful features: guide loops for the laces at the toe end and at the middle: the red M in the tongue is raised to make it easier to straighten the tongue: the uppers are very well ventilated: the loop at the heel makes it easier to tug on the boot: the lug soles are rugged yet flexible: I especially like the rubberized top eyelets because I believe they'll protect the laces from premature wear: and the rubberized bumpers going up the back of the heel will protect from wear when driving, for example. My husband loves wearing them. He says they've put a spring in his step, and they are comfortable to wear all day long.

Merrell Hiking Boots are always my go-to purchase when I need to replace my well-worn and well-loved boots. I am on the trails early every morning and even with my arthritic feet, I find comfort and ease of movement over varied terrain. The only thing I have a hard time with is the laces ... I am re-tying them often unless I get a good grip with a double knot.

Extremely comfortable at the very first - but just slightly wide. Stability seems solid but I used my own preferred insoles with pronation control. My only concern is if the shoes become a little looser with wear. Still, outstanding shoes.
Fine for casual wear without the treads causing discomfort.
