Really pleased with these boots - was a little nervous buying them sight unseen from LLBean.com, but these were a fantastic purchase. Thick sole that (unlike my Katahdin work boots), grips well on snow and ice. Thick leather with an inner layer makes them comfortable and unlike a lot of other Chukkas out there, thick enough to hold up to abuse, don't cut into your ankles and wear comfortably in the winter!

Shoes look to be well made. They are comfortable , good fit. Laces could be made of a better material.
The real test will be to see how long they hold up in the long term.

These have always been one of my husband's favorites. His last pair wore out a few years ago. When he saw these his eyes lit up. I absolutely had to get them for him for Christmas. He was as happy as a child and wears them happily every day. He always gets a good fit in LL Bean shoes and clothing. They are also a value, well made and long lasting. We will continue shopping with LL Bean for quality items.

I'm very happy with these boots so far. They were a bit stiff for a week or so, but now have broken in nicely. I have wide feet, but these offer plenty of room for my toes. The quality of construction appears to be high also. I purchased size 9 medium width.

Versatile boots: last week we went to Powderhorn ski resort during a winter storm and I stomped around in snow and slush without getting my feet wet. This week we went hiking in the hills near Colorado National Monument and I was impressed with the traction on steep climbs. And they look good with chinos too.
Be warned: the boot tongue is brutal until it gets broken in. After that they're pretty comfy.

I bought these shoes a few weeks ago to compare with the Stonington chukkas vs the shoes and immediately liked the chukkas. They're both functional and stylish. I'm going on a three-week trip to Europe, and I anticipate a lot of walking in wet conditions - water, ice, and snow. It doesn't say this on the Zappos site, but if you go to LLBean, they're touted as "water-resistant." (I ordered from Zappos because of faster shipping and free returns.) Despite being touted as water-resistant, I treated them with additional leather spray to also treat the insides and tongue. As soon as I received them, I wore the shoes all of the time to break them in - around the house, running errands, walking around my small town. Very little break-in is needed. The leather is soft. People may complain about having issues with getting your foot into the chukkas. Just open them wide, pull the back, and wiggle! That's how boots and chukkas work. ???? Plus, it gets easier with the break-in period, and nothing to complain about. But it would have been nice to have a leather loop on the back of the chukkas to pull them on. Because of the style, there will be rubbing in the area above the back of your Achilles tendon. Since I'm wearing them during the winter, I wear heavy wool Merino socks, and this is not a problem. Arch support is fine, but because I'll be walking a lot for weeks and I have weak arches, I'll add insoles for stronger arch support. I haven't had a chance to test out the "grippiness" of the sole in wet/icy conditions, but they're absolutely fine thus far. They WILL get scuffed, but that's to be expected with soft leather. One small complaint - There are only two sets of eyelets for the laces. I wish that there was a third set of eyelets. Otherwise, I love the shoes. Great for casual daily wear and highly recommend!

I bought this boot for my husband and he liked the style but said they were very stiff. They were also a little too big. He normally wears an 11 and probably should’ve ordered a 10.5. Nice quality boots though.

These boots are excellent. They have a solid sole that is both durable and comfortable. The leather uppers are a dark brown and constructed well, should hold up in any conditions. It took about 2 weeks to break in these which is not unusual with leather footwear. I ordered these a half size up but returned them ordering true to my size which ended up being a perfect fit. I've had a number of people compliment me on them already. I needed a shoe that would be an upgrade from standing in sneakers all day. I have no hesitation recommending these.

I always wore Chukka books when I was younger. This pair was a gift to myself as I turned 'a little' older. They are waterproof, tie easily and quickly without a lot of eyelets, have short shoelaces and fit like they were already broken in. I expect to wear them for years. Call them my memory walk shoes.
I take a 7.5 M, ordered that size and they fit great.

Even after a few miles of non-stop walking, the shoes rubbing on the ankle bone it didn't cause any blistering. Very, very comfortable !!

This is a substantial shoe, and while a bit stiff at first, breaks in quite nicely. I wear a size 9 med, and it was true to size. I like the chukka design for an everyday yard & casual boot, being easy on & off, with a sole that doesn't track mud & dirt into the house like many boot designs of late. Great support for the ankles. I wear a medium weight wool sock for best comfort. They are warm, and therefore handle New England's cold weather very well.

A very nice boot.
I got a pair for winter wear with a rather heavy socks and they seem great. No snow yet but I think they will be good in lite snow. Sole looks like it will work well in rough weather. They are a bit stiff initially, but are softening up with about a couple weeks of wearing.
