Loved the color and style but even the wide was restrictive in the toe box. I couldn't imagine hiking in them.

Tried on with a hiking sock, it was too narrow. Hiking boot manufacturers don't seem to take account that thick cushioned socks are worn with a hiking boot.Thick socks occupy space in the foot bed. All "wide" women's hiking boots I tried (10 different styles, multiple brands) had this problem. I've now gone to mens hiking boots to get the correct width. Not ideal as men's heels are a bit wider. No arch support and insoles were almost pancake flat with little cushioning.

My previous hiking boot was an LLBean model that lasted 7 years. Excellent durability. I tried a different brand as a replacement and sadly that didn't mold to my feet even after a month's break-in time. Returned them and am happy to be back in my favorite, most comfortable boot. The wide width really makes my feet smile. I've hiked in Horicon Marsh, walked multiple times in the rain this fall and took the boots to Thailand in the rainy season. The boots have kept my feet dry except when high rushing waters came up over their tops. I've learned my lesson, stick to what works and I'm glad to be able to count on LLBean for comfort, durability, and dry feet.

Great boots! I was concerned about fit as my feet are slightly narrow. The boots laced up nicely and were comfortable on my first hike. Good fit. I look forward to many more miles of hiking!

I really wanted waterproof boots to prepare for a hiking trip to Ireland next spring. Living in CA, where it does not rain at this time of year, I have not yet tested the waterproofing feature. On the positive side, these shoes fit my feet very well with mid-weight hiking socks: no discomfort at all on my feet. But my ankles and shins have gotten quite sore. After 1 or 2 hikes on varied terrain up and down hills, I purchased some ankle covers (Zentoes ankle bone protection sleevesee photo) to go under my hiking socks, and this helped with the ankle area, but my shins at the point where the boot meets the leg were still sore as I hiked yesterday, and today, the day after the hike, my shins have red marks (see photo). I have only gone on about three hikes so far, so I have some hope the shoes may break in after a few more hikes.

I ordered the Wide D width and these were so narrow that even with a thin sock they squeezed my foot. I couldn't comfortably walk around my house let alone go hiking. In addition, the insoles in these boots had no arch support and were pancake flat with little cushioning. Hello hiking shoe designers, people wear thicker cushioned hiking socks and this mean that the toe boxes for wide hiking boots need to be designed much wider than the toe box for street shoes to accommodate the thicker sock. After trying 6 different companies women's "wide" hiking boots I bought Merrell men's hiking boot in regular width which had a wide enough toe box to accommodate my foot and a hiking sock. Not an ideal fit as the heel of the boot is a bit too wide which I feel is the downside of a woman's foot in a man's shoe. On the one plus side they were decent looking, but not much help for utility.
I'd also recommend:

These boots have been my snow boots, hiking boots, and every day winter boot. I have poor arches, and these boots support my feet well. I also have orthopedic/nerve conditions (scoliosis, osteoarthritis, sciatica), and I'm able to walk without pain from the boots. These boots work so well for me, anatomically speaking for both my back and feet, that I'm investing in another pair. The SAME bootand they last long. I bought mine in 2018 or 2019, and they've even withstood recovery from a flood disaster in 2021 from Hurricane Ida (see pic)!!

For the first time in over a year I can wear these boots and not have pain while walking! True to the word they are waterproof and rugged enough for trails.

I bought these boots right before a trip out west. I knew we would be doing some hiking so I wanted something that was comfortable with a high ankle. I worried wearing new boots on a 10 mile hike was a terrible idea, but I had absolutely no problems! Definitely recommend!

I have worn once so far with crampons at a snowy and icy park with sandstone cliffs and ledges. I had some rubbing on front of right leg above ankle, which quickly softened up and I felt great after a long afternoon of climbing and hiking. Attractive boots, sturdy but relatively light weight. I love them!

Experience has shown that serious hiking requires a boot one size larger and a breaking in period. Therefore I ordered 9.5 wide. These boots appear to be good quality hiking boots. The left boot fits nicely with good support. The right boot, however, is very tight applying unusual pressure from mid toe to outer aspect of foot. I loosened the boot and walked around the house in the pair for 2 hours. It took another two hours out of the boots and a right foot massage for my right foot to feel normal again. Yikes. This is a case of the importance of trying a boot on prior to purchase.

The fit is fine, but the sole is horrible on ice & other slippery surfaces! It's like wearing hard plastic on ice. I'm very disappointed as the boots I've bought from ll bean in the past were fabulous and I'd assumed these would be the same. Be cautious if you wear these boots in winter!

I really like how they look but the are very stiff and not very wide for a wide boot

I bought both y he low and high top boots. The high tops felt like they were on the wrong feet, even though they were on the correct feet, I was in severe pain, and the lower boots, in the same size, were fine. I found them also too narrow, i am very disappointed because I bought the same style a few years ago and I wear them almost every day to work.

Disappointed with these hiking boots. Rubbed raw on ankles even with thick socks on. Returned them and purchased different brand elsewhere.

I ordered wide width which is not incredibly wide but just enough to be comfortable. Not many of the woman's hikers are in wide. Just allows more comfort, personal preference. I also like the blue color.

Boots are rugged, with a strong sole (bottom), lightweight and comfortable. I am slowly breaking them in for hiking season. Only thing that is uncomfortable is above the ankle after I tie the laces . I'm hoping that after a while the leather will soften and it will be more comfortable.

These boots felt so good from the minute I put them on. They aren't stiff but make your feet feel supported. I love the color and look forward to many miles with them. I would definitely recommend them. East coast Massachusetts.
