I am a big fan of Asics. I’ve been running in them off and on for 4+ years. I have tried the Cumulus 20-24, Kayano 27-29, GT 2000 9 and 10 and the Nimbus 22 and 23. I’ve always found size 11 wide to be my best fit in Asics. I would say these fit true to size and on the long side for Asics. Long enough I considered exchanging them and sizing down 1/2 a size but I decided to just return these get the Kayano 29 instead. I would say this is the closest equivalent to the Cumulus in the Asics stability lineup. It’s an excellent, fairly traditional trainer with moderate support, moderate cushion and not too stiff. I do think the Kayano 29 is a slightly better shoe but it does cost more. At this price point, if you need the stability I would choose this, the GT 4000 3. The Kayano 28 is on sale but they were too stiff to my liking. The GT-2000 10 is also a good shoe, slightly lighter weight, similar stability, slightly older design. If you need stability I’d suggest the Kayano 29. But if that’s too costly or too much stability go for these, but consider your sizing. If you don’t need the stability get the Cumulus 24.

I would recommend these over the current Gel Kayano. They both have medium-size heel cups, so they won't accommodate all orthotics. These have a firmer forefoot than the Kayano, so it feels more stable on the ball of the feet. I feel like the forefoot cushioning in the Kayano is overkill. These are heavier than the Kayano. Like the Kayano these are crazy stable at the heel through the mid. These would be a nice upgrade from the GT-1000 for most people, I think. Now we just need ASICS to offer these in 4E. And ASICS, pick one of these shoes for overpronators and give it a wider heel to accommodate larger orthotics. (For now, we need the New Balance 940.)
I'd also recommend:

Asics were recommended by my podiatrist as I am having a problem with my foot. I would like to see you offer a women's size in 2E as I had to purchase a man's size. However this doesn't take away from the shoe. I am very satisfied with it.

I have run in the asics gt4000 series for many years including the precursor gel empire and gt 3000 series. I have been a huge fan of this series with their attention to late stride over pronation. However, it seems that every other new release on this shoe has been a total dud. The gt 4000 2 was wonderful and I ran through 2 pair of these. This version gt 4000 3 unfortunately is very poor. This is a blister and callous machine for me. Something about the shoe causes blisters on the bottom of my feet. Zappos has been excellent and are going to take the shoes back. I will be in search of a new running shoe style...

I have always worn GT 2000s and this is a great upgrade! These felt like I had already broken them in the moment I put them on. A very, very comfy shoe. Love it!!! Buy with confidence. Love the Black/Waterscape color too.

I wear these shoes to get me through 10 hour shifts 4 days a week, and they're great. I got them in wide due to having tailor's bunions on both feet, and I am not in pain. The shoes are very comfortable, provide relief, and do not feel clunky.

Perfect fit right out of the box, no break in period necessary. This show has the motion control desired but is still light weight. Thank you.

This is the only shoe for me. I don't run that much (about 1.5 - 2 miles four times a week), but these are the only shoes I can run comfortably in. Over the past 30 years, I have tried everything. Keep coming back to these. Glad the new colors a little less old-timer and more current. For people with poorly shaped feet and big frames, this is the best shoe there is. I now wear them as my around the house shoe (I work from home), my around town shoe, and my running shoe. I have several different pairs. If they ever stop making these, I will be sunk! Note to Asics: Keep making them! For context, I am 54 years old, 5'10" tall, I weigh 210 lbs, with a 46.5 inch chest. I mostly lift weights and run on the treadmill. Note, I always have a break-in period with these which lasts a week or two where the shoe softens up a bit and I have a little pain along the outer edge of my foot. Usually goes away after the first two weeks and then no issues.

Great shows. This shoes gave me all the support and stability I needed as per my podiatrist recommendation. Highly recommended to all people with foot pain issues.

My left foot has a pronation issue, and GT-4000 3 releases the stressed muscle group due to compensating.

I so rarely write reviews but I just love these shoes. I've been happy with other models of Asics running shoes as well. These are now my favorites, especially for their support for my over-pronated feet. Highly recommended.

After pushing through a marathon years ago in the wrong shoes, my ankle was never the same. These shoes have greatly reduced the aggravation too many miles will cause. I wish there were more colors to choose from. Especially on the brighter side.

Very light, support not too great, allowed my feet to turn in a bit still. Comfortable. Was not up to the level of the shoes they marketed some years ago with the colored arch support (orange, as I recall). I was hoping for this to be a release of same, but wasn't.

I've had several pairs of these and the latest created a blister on my upper heal. I have to put a piece of tape on my heal to keep it from wearing my skin raw.

Quality looks ok but the stripes look like plastic decal add ons. I can look past that. Not as wide as I would have thought. Comfortable

I have no arch at all! Was born that way. Was running in GT 2000 regular D. Until recently my 68 year old feet started giving me a fit on the outer sole. Thank the Lord for these 4000 -3 Wide. The last couple of weeks have been just great. I even purchased another pair so I can alternate.
