I'm very happy with my Tyler boots after owning them for about a month. I was initially cautious about sizing after reading reports that some Frye boots run large, but I ended up getting my regular size after trying a half-size smaller pair, primarily for adequate width. They felt snug and a little tight, but after only a few hours of wear conformed to my feet, and now I would describe their fit as glove-like. The leather is soft, especially in the ankle. The heel gives a lot of side-to-side support, so I don't feel a need for an after-market insole for arch support, which is minimal. They are lined with soft leather, it seems that is the bonus for being made in Mexico over the U.S. for the price. The leather laces, in combination with the ankle height, are definitely not built for speed, but do their job while looking good. The slightly extended toe is a nice styling touch while not looking extreme. I would caution those with wide feet that this model may be slightly narrow. I consider my feet to be medium+ width and they were initially snug. But I love 'em!

I had owned a pair of the Frye Harness boots for many years and loved them. After years of wearing them out (even though they still hold up to this day), I wanted to go with a slimmer, more low profile boot that allowed a little more action. These Tyler Lace Ups are the perfect solution for an everyday boot. Here's a list of Pros/Cons: -Pros- These have a tailored/slim fit to them. My feet fit more snug in these boots; other boots I've tried required an additional thick insole to keep my feet from swimming around (needing insoles not a bad thing, it's just one less thing to worry about). Low profile style. I have the black (non-stone washed) pair, and they are completely without any additional flare. It's a nice classic look, with a hint of style from their tailored fit. High action. Overall they're pretty flexible and light, and they don't feel like you're wearing two bricks on your feet. They also feel sturdy at the same time; like a cross between dress boots and work boots. Pre-broken-in. This may be a Con for others, but I like the fact that you can wear these right away without worrying about blisters. -Cons- Tongue weirdness. The boots tongues cause some discomfort, but this is usually relieved over time as the boot will most likely conform to the shape of the foot. Not so easy to take on and off. These require a bit of struggle and loosening to get on and off. But they're tailored boots, so it comes with the territory. -Conclusion- I'm really happy with these boots. If you're looking for a casual boot that goes well with jeans or any casual slacks that have a straight or tapered leg, you should definitely check these out. Plus, they're Frye boots, and they will most likely last you a good deal of time! Notes: Try a half-size down from your normal shoe size. Frye recommends doing this and they're completely right. I'm 10.5 with most other shoes, went with a 10, and they fit perfectly.

Just ordered these boots, and they are awesome! If you want a vintage, distressed look, these are the boots for you. They look as if you've had them for years, broken them in, and they have become a part of your personality. May need to wear them once or twice to actually break them in. Take the time to do it. I usually wear an 11, but bought 10 1/2 and they're perfect. Suggest going half size smaller. Seriously, a great buy!

We wanted these boots to work, but they were a little too narrow for my boyfriend’s feet. He does have pretty wide feet though. What we did t love about these boots is that they are a little too dressy for what he wanted. With jeans on they look like dress shoes, not every day boots. Super high quality and nice boot though. Main issue for us was style.

These are nice looking boots. Pretty comfortable. I returned due to the fact that they are hard to put on/pull off due to the lacing. I opted for the Bowery Lace-up that includes a side zipper.......much better.

The boot runs very small. My first impression was that I’d have to return them as they seemed extremely narrow. It does not help that they are leathered lined, so getting them on or off is not that easy- and I do not have a large foot at 9 1/2.
I used a shoe stretcher because I really liked the style and it worked. Now, I would call the fit snug, but comfortable. I ride a motorcycle and wanted something sturdy enough to ride in and these fit the bill. I would not recommend these for long periods of walking or standing, however. They have held up very well after some time, but be aware they are very distressed out of the box. I don’t think the photos represent this very well. Not a concern for me, but could be if you are expecting a slightly worn look.
Overall, I think it’s a good boot, but pricey. Do not even consider these if your feet are even remotely wide.

I own several pairs of Frye boots, and I am always impressed by their quality. They are pricey, to be sure. But, they offer more styles than Red Wing or any other comparable brand. However, there are two things you should be aware of before purchasing these boots. They are VERY NARROW. Straight out of the box they looked very small. After trying them on, they felt as if they were actually narrow width. But, they only come in medium, so that was not the case. Length is true to size, but I could barely get my foot into them with a regular sock. After reading other reviews regarding the width, I decided to stretch them out slightly. Now, they are comfortable with the thinnest socks I own. I'm hoping they will give a little more over time. If you have even the slightest amount of 'girth' to your feet, I would stay away from these.
Also, I like that these boots have a pre-worn appearance. I wouldn't call it distressed because they look very worn. I like that. But, I think they are much more distressed than they appear on the website. It is not just a slight patina, but a heavily worn look all over. You might want to think about that before shelling out nearly $350.
That being said, I love them. But, I have slightly narrow feet, and these almost went back because they were too small.

I bought the Tyler Lace Up Boot after trying them on. I loved the look/style of them. They were a bit tight width-wise, but I thought they would break in after wearing them a few times. After having them a few months, they have not really changed and they hurt my feet when I wear them. It is definitely a testament to the quality of the boot if my big flat feet don't break them in, but if you have a wider foot then I would definitely make sure they are comfortable the first time you put them on.

This is a great looking boot with a bit of vintage feel. The leather is extremely soft and a beautiful brown shade of brown. They run narrow and I ordered a half size down, which fit well. I hated to do it, but ultimately returned them for something with a Goodyear Welted sole.

These boots really ran the length size indicated; however, they are really narrow. Frye should definitely offer a selection in broader widths!

Great pair of boots! They've held up well and look very stylish.
The heels have worn a bit uneven (more worn on the outside of the heel), which is probably more of a problem with my pattern of walking than the shoe. But I imagine I'll probably have to get them resoled in about a year.

Great boot. Leather is very soft right out of the box. The fit is a little tight for the first couple wears, especially across the bridge of the foot. After break in, they feel like old friends.

I love the look of these boots. The leather is great. I do think they run long. I went a half size down. I probably could of went a full size down. But they were a little stiff in the begining. But after 3 or 4 times out they have broken in and feel as if I could of went a full size smaller. But they do look great. They are dressy enough that I wear them with jeans to work.

The color for the cognac leather isn't as light as the photo depicts. It almost seems as if they are closer to a solid brown, bummed they weren't close to the picture. I did get two pairs - wasn't sure which size would fit - so I don't think the color discrepancy was a mistake.

At first wear, the shoes were very snug and took a little getting used too. After a few wears they fit like a glove. As someone who has exceptionally flat feet, these boots held my orthotics well. The boots did take a week or so to wear in but now that they fit they are one of my favorite pairs of shoes.

Toe box was too small and overall they were too narrow and too long. Also the stitching on the sole was coming apart which seems like a bad sign for brand new shoe.

I waiting many months to purchase this boot, anticipation was killing me so I pulled the trigger- leather quality is top notch, but they are hard to put on unless you completely remove the laces part way down, also once on the fit is larger than anticipated with heel slippage, little disappointing

Trust the other reviews, this shoe is extremely narrow. I am a thin guy with normal feet and my feet were spilling over the soles. Not a very comfortable shoe, but I'm sure they would have given way over time. The style seemed a bit "dainty" for my liking. This shoe is made in Mexico and the craftsmanship didn't strike me as warranting a $300 pricetag. Exchanged them for the Prison Boot which is made in the USA.

Shouldn't a pair of pricey boots be comfortable?? It seems these days (or maybe always) to wear "fashionable" things you pay a premium and get nothing in terms of comfort and these boots are no exception. I've been wearing these now on and off for a month, i assume any break in has already happened, and they are still not very comfortable at all. I have very narrow feet, i always need to find brands in footwear that are better suited to narrow feet, and these feel extremely tight around the sides. These are rated a D medium width but I don t think that is accurate. Very narrow. Aside from sizing issues and lack of comfort I do like the way these boots look. I was looking for a pair of boots on the casual side that look worn in, I just wish they felt a bit more like what they look like.

Man, I really wanted to like this boot. It looks great and was exactly what I was looking for, however, these boots are incredible mis-sized. I tried several pairs, but just could not make it work. These boots just did not like my feet. I am a standard D width, so I can only echo what other reviewers have said - they run very narrow. Every foot is different, so maybe you can squeeze into these, but I wore them a few times and they were just painful. The only other option is to size up a lot, but then you have a very long boot with too much toe room. As always, Zappos heard my concerns and I was able to return them. It just was not meant to be.

Yes, these look great and appear well made. They better be for that much. My gripe though is the lack of any arch support or comfort for the innersole. The flat piece of plywood they designed for the foot bed is glued in and you can't get it out. Good luck finding super thin inserts. Even then, it's just annoying as all heck that these guys refuse to think about the foot anatomically. If they would just be comfortable I would spend even more just to have these but NO. Tradition trumps evolution. I tried on a total of five different models from this manufacturer and it was the same outcome - zero comfort. Try for yourself but be prepared to be bummed out.
