I bought this to replace the BL 1944 Classic 550 chelsea in which I bought the wrong size. My favorite Blundstone is the dress boot, which is known to run a half size larger than classics. So when it came time to buy a classic I went up half a size, which still wasn't enough. For this "Active" Chelsea boot, I treated it like a running shoe and ordered a whole size larger than my regular size. I am usually a US Women's 8 and so I ordered a US W 9/ AU 6 for this boot. It fits really well and I like it quite a bit. I still prefer the look of the dress boot, but it was nice to have that athletic hybrid. My photos will show the active and classic Chelsea for comparison. Hope it's helpful. The classic Chelsea is size AU 5.5 and the active Chelsea is size AU 6 for reference.

I ordered these hoping they'd have the feel of a sneaker with the look of the classic Chelsea boot. Not really. I compared with my classic Blundstones and noticed little difference in the flexibility of the sole or the shock absorption. While the sole has a different look than the classic boot, and maybe a bit more flexibility, it doesn't feel all that different. (I put one on each foot and walked around the house.) The insole has a sportier look/feel, but doesn't seem as though it adds much in terms of shock absorption and is very thin around the toes/ball of foot, which is exactly where I was looking for more padding. The platform of the shoe beneath the insert feels exactly the same in both boots. I decided to stick with the classics because these didn't offer a significant comfort upgrade.

Loved these boots. Unfortunately the pair I received had been returned previously (no cardboard or tissue) and they had a defect - small knot in the stitching on the left inside which poked into my ankle. I had to return them. So sad!

I read the other reviews and saw that some people thought they were too snug in the ankle. I knew I would want that because my ankles are so weak and wobbly, I walk around in a neoprene ankle brace all the time. These are PERFECT for me. Roomy in the toe box, fitted in the heel, and yes, snug in the ankle. I have worn them every day since they arrived and I want to buy all the pairs. Oh also they look really cute with both leggings and jeans.

Wow. These are SO comfortable I am stunned. I’m so excited to not have to choose between sneakers and boots - the blundstone active Chelsea boot is the best of both worlds. I slipped my feet in and my jaw dropped - so impressed. I am between a 7.5-8 and I went with the 8 and they are a little big. I’m curious about how the 7.5 will fit so I ordered them to try as well. These are easy to get on and seems like I can wear them all day. I have a little wider of a foot and again no issue. Comfortable right out of the box!

Had to return it because it is very tight around the heel to a point after having it on for 30 mins could not walk in comfort.

Cute boots! The boot was difficult to slip on (I ordered my usual boot size 41/10). Once on, the boots felt narrow and the ankle was tight. I wonder if they would’ve stretched out a bit in time. I sent them back…right out of the box they didn’t work for me.

Would have loved to keep them but these boots are way too narrow around the ankle. Otherwise they are exactly what I had hoped for.

Wanted to love. Really. I researched the fit for a long time. As many reviewers point out, the ankle opening is very tight. I feel this must loosen with wear, so that wasn't the show stopper. But once my foot popped in they felt slightly too wide which is saying something because I have wide feet, and had ordered the half size to accommodate. Super tight ankles, super roomy inside. I felt like they made my feet look enormous. Just not a good style for me. I'm not going to try the half size down.

These shoes are very stiff and so I am returning them.

I thought others must be exaggerating about the tight ankles and went ahead and ordered them. I could barely get them on. Once on the footbed was good but the ankle would have been a constant annoyance. I unfortunately need to send them back.

These look great and feel right on the foot, but they are absurdly tight around the ankles and lower calves. The opening is just way too small. I am a smallish person (around 110 pounds) with proportionately sized ankles and calves, so it's hard for me to understand how many people would be able to to get these on and off. Sorry to have to return.

If you have a high instep, don't even look! They are so cool, you will be tempted to try them. I tried and had to send them back. So sad! Everyone I know who has them loves them.

These met all my expectations!! Cute and comfortable! I always replace inner soles with my own for extra support!

I ordered these in my regular size and up a half size, and the half size up was perfect for me. Right out of the box these were fantastic. I was wearing them around the house just to get the feel for them. I forgot I had them on and ran out of the house for the day wearing them, and wound up running around the city the entire day and night in them. They were so comfortable that I totally forgot I had them on. I was blissfully unaware of my shoes the entire day. They feel more like a sneaker than a boot. Even though the temp was in the 90s and I was wearing suede boots, they were cool and light and very comfortable. They felt supportive and nothing rubbed on irritated anywhere on my foot or ankle. So, I accidentally got something like 20,000 steps in these things, when I had intended to only put them on in the morning to get the feel of them. They are terrific.

I've worn other styles of Blundstone boots and wasn't sure of the fit on this 'active' design...but I knew Zappos would work with me on getting sizing just right with their generous buy/return/satisfaction policies. These basically fit the same as my Classic Chelsea boots...and feel more lightweight...so should be great for the warmer weather...love the sharp looking white sole...and the grey a nice neutral...very happy with the boots

My new favorite boots/shoes! Was thinking they might be too small, but they are perfect. Love this new Blundstone style! Great for walking on streets or hiking trails.

Fit well. Ordered up in size due to other reviews. Didn’t like the extra plastic looking part above back heel & along toe. And the black color was slightly too green fur my taste.

Cute and comfy

I’m a true size 7 but need a wider toe box, but the 7’s were just a little more snug than I’d like. I bought the 7.5 as well and they are more comfortable for a wide forefoot. The ankle opening is tight but stretches, which I like because I have small ankles. The boot is a lot lighter in weight than I thought it would be. I’m not how long the sole will last.

Love them!

The boots are gorgeous but were a bit too big on my feet.
