***Do not order directly from Xero shoes or youll end up paying $15 to try on a pair if you dont like them.*** And then, they take 10 business days to return your money (minus $9.99 shipping and whatever additional $5.49 fee they decided to deduct). I tried them on in my living room for less than two minutes before carefully re-wrapping them just as they came.
They sell them at REI now. If you can buy through them, youd be wise to do so. Their return policy and customer service is second to none.
If you do purchase, things to note from instant observation and not from daily use:
1. They run very small. Im a womens 6.5-7. In these shoes Im a 7.5-8. I ordered a 7 and my feet were jammed into the toe of the shoe.
2. The material in the Aqua X shoe is very rough and walking or running in it wouldve resulted in blisters and/or abrasions very quickly. I wanted them off of my feet as soon as I put them on.
I was considering trying other shoe model options but after the all around poor experience, Im out.

These are great. Theyre super lightweight and flexible. They drain quickly and dry quickly too. I can wear them with or without socks. Ive used them as a lightweight hiking shoes and also been swimming while wearing them.

I wear these for tidepooling, and they are excellent for walking on a rocky beach covered in barnacles (where I really can't be barefoot). Traction on slippery seaweed covered areas is also better than in any other footwear I have tried, and I can actually feel the substrate and even grip a bit with my feet, so I can actively balance. Fit is comfortable on my relatively wide feet, and they don't constrict my toes at all like most shoes do.

I really like these shoes, but I had to return them because the tongue cuts into my ankle when I flex my foot. Even though the material at the end of the tongue is very thin and flexible, I don't like how it feels against my ankle, even with socks.

Got these for a trip out to Wyoming/Idaho and used them for both hiking and white water rafting. Lightweight but still grippy.

Hard to describe the size. Too short (my 2nd toe is longer than the big toe), yet to wide. They cut in the break when you walk. Someone else mentioned the fold/crease. They are cute though.

Super grippy! Nice to have a water shoe that doesn’t look nuts on land. Expensive for a water shoe, but laces mean you won’t lose them when you capsize.

Love these shoes. I normally wear an 8.5. Bought a 9 and they are a perfect fit for tender old toes. I’m new to “barefoot” save for one brief foray into “Five Finger” shoes which didn’t work out for me although I loved the concept. These are the perfect mashup of trainer and barefoot, IMO. I wanted something I could take in the water and on rock (traditional hikers on wet rock felt so insecure) and yet have some protection. At 59 yo, these are a blessing to feet tired of being trapped in hard, heavy shoes and they grip well so far. I hope they hold up (given their cost) because I plan on using the heck out of them this summer.

Are they the best looking Sport shoe on the market? Nah. To me, all zero drop, wide toe box shoes look a bit odd. But dang these things are comfy and my feet are so happy in them compared to the heavily constructed and heavy hiking shoes I’ve always had. Will see how they hold up. Normal size is 8.5. Bought a 9 based on reviews and they are perfect.

I purchased these water shoes for an upcoming trip to use for paddle boarding, kayaking etc. I usually wear size 8 but felt the 8 were about half size to small so I exchanged for an 8.5 and the shoes fit great so would highly recommend .5 size up…your big toe will thank you!

Both my wife and I are really happy with our xero shoes. Been wearing them for months now, every day. When they guarantee the soles for 5,000 miles they aren't kidding. Very comfortable and not bad to look at. What else could you want?

Wasnt sure how theyd do but have been so very happy with them. Have done some great hiking in water and out. They are so light weight and yet protected my feet really well. Also used them for some serious garden work. They were constantly comfortable and when these start to wear Ill be back for another pair !!!

I love these! I have worn them to the river, beach, on hikes, out for walks, and even to the gym! I love how quick drying they are and easy to clean. I also really appreciate the removable sole. I have a damaged nerve in one foot, and Xero shoes are one of the few shoes I can wear. I was having some pain with these at first as the sole is a bit thicker than my Speed Force, but taking out the insole immediately fixed it for me! I like the stretchy laces as I can just slip them on without readjusting them. I also really love the look of those shoes. I know everyone has their own style, but I personally do not like the look of many other barefoot or minimalist shoes on the market right now. This actually look like a regular shoe and are very cute and sporty!

Purchased these for my 13 year old to hit multiple types of hiking and whitewater rafting trips. It was fantastic watching her walk with confidence through all sorts of terrain. Up next: buying myself a pair!

Have converted from heel strike to toe runner in these shoes. Wear them for everything, from morning runs to 18 miles of hiking on the AT. These are super comfy and so much more then a water shoe!

Hands down best shoes for my wide flat feet! No knee issues like I normally get when hiking. Best investment!!!

I bought these in advance of our annual camping trip, and they performed amazingly through sand, rain, mud, and even down into an iron mine. I honestly can say that I will be continuing to wear them for daily use as well as the adventures into the future!

Better than barefoot. Great for walking or at the beach. Very little sand got in the entire time at the beach including in the water.

These are excellent for kayaking. When my wife kayak we also collect litter that ends up n the river. This sometimes involves getting in and out along the muddy/rocky banks. We used to wear trail shoes for grip and foot protection. The Aqua-X sport works much better. They are much lighter and more flexible while our feet are in the kayak. We don't notice them at all. But, when we get out the flexibility and grip make it much easier to get footing on rocks and/or mud.
