These are DARLING boots, they feel light and stylish, not clunky at all like some shearling boots can be. I am keeping them, and will likely wear all the time, however as a brand loyal Birkenstocker, I need to give two watch outs: 1) The foot bed is not molded like every other Birkenstock I have owned, the molding is different and quite frankly doesn’t feel as formed to my natural foot shape. I’m sure I’ll get used it it, but I wonder why the designers messed with perfection? 2) The foot bed is smooth leather. This feels odd in contrast to the cozy shearling, again feels like the designers were snoozing a bit on this one, as suede or similar would feel better to those folks who like to slip their shearling boots on barefoot. Overall really like them, but scratching my head a bit too.

I bought these because I have been wearing Birkenstock sandals for over 30 years. The traditional arch support is able to replace my need for orthotics. This boot does not have the same footbed as the original Birkenstock sandal. It is narrow and digs in to the side of your foot. I have to return. I am so disappointed because I was looking for a boot that I could wear without an orthotic.

I reviewed these boots right after I bought them, and I still love them. Now that it’s gotten seriously cold, I went ahead and bought fleece insoles made for another major brand of fleece boots. I trimmed them to fit, using the original insole as a template. Now these boots are perfect! No idea why Birkenstock doesn’t manufacture these with a fleece insole, but for $20. USD, my fix takes these boots from great to excellent.

I am a Birk lover! Many shearling sandals. I love the look of the boot BUT the FOOTBED is awful. Should’ve been shearling. I am returning, regrettably

These are really pretty and the footbed fits just like my Birkenstock sandals, and I really, really want to love them, but there is a seam in the fleece lining in the back that has just a bit of a rough edge that hits exactly on my Achilles tendon. I’m worried that it will rub as I walk. Socks with a thick, ribbed top might help, or I may stick some moleskin on as a preventive measure before I take them out of the house on a Fall walk. It’s in both boots, so it’s not a fault, just how they are constructed. They’re super cute with leggings, and after they’re good and broken in I’ll probably have a cobbler add a fleece insole because I think that’d feel yummy. (I know Birk is famous for that cork footbed, but you’d think they might have done that to these!) So I’m happy with them but I think I’ll be happier down the road.

I own 3 pairs of Birkenstock sandals that I love and I couldn’t wait to try these boots. I’m in love! So comfy and cute!!

I LOVE these boots. Very comfortable, and they don't look like oversized caveman boots, like Uggs do. They're much more streamlined looking. I disagree with the people who say the footbed should have been shearling. Shearling underfoot would have matted down, balled up and worn off. If there's anything I cannot stand is weird little nubs under my foot. Smooth leather will last much longer and be more comfortable in the long run. And yes, it's not the toe grip high arch footbed of the sandals, but the footbed is slightly squishy and will mold to my foot with wear. I bought my regular size (9 1/2, 40 regular) and it fit perfectly with bare feet. Usually the closed toe Birks require me to go up a size even though I have a 1/4" of room around my toes in the sandals. I bought the grey taupe and the interior looks like sheep white to me, not pale pink, and I'm OK with that. I think I have room for tights or thin socks should I want to wear them. Also, if there was a toe bar and high arch, it might cause problems between going barefoot and wearing socks, because the thickness of the sock would push the foot forward and cause the toe bar and arch to be in the wrong place, so I think they did right by using a different footbed. There is some arch, and like I said, it is squishy and will mold to your own foot shape.

Terrible quality. Fell apart after 6 months of moderate use, in the city. This is not my first pair of Birkenstocks, I used to trust them but no more. Literally there's a hole in the sole! I can't believe I spent $200 on these

Fit is excellent! Quality is wonderful! Inside sole is a little hard. Would recommend!

these are beautiful boots but ...I have worn birkenstock sandals and clogs for over 30 years and really hoped these boots would be as comfortable but unfortunately the footbed is different. It doesnt have the toe bar and the material is very slippery so my foot didnt feel sturdy in the boot.

I ordered these directly from Birkenstock and I love them! They are so warm and comfortable. As other reviewers mentioned, the footbed is not shearling. However, I added an air cushion insole and this makes them very comfortable! I highly recommend these boots. They look great with leggings and skinny jeans. I’m normally a 7.5 or 8, but I always order a 38 in Birkenstock. These fit great.

Love the look and feel but run big. Birkenstock sandals are all I wear in warmer weather. I have have lots of boots as I live in SLC, UT where it gets cold but I tend to wear my several pair of tall Ugg’s because I hate socks and live to just slip on a pair of warm furry boots to run around. My lower back gives me problems after wearing Ugg’s all day long because they have next to no support (especially when they stretch, which is quickly), so I was pleased to see these Birk boots. I love the look and feel. I can easily slip them in with the buckle unfastened and it actually looks good left open too. They do run quite large though so I will be returning them for at least 1 size smaller, possibly 2 because I know they are going to stretch with all the wear I’m going to get out of them. I think if I was planning to wear them occasionally I would go 1 size down but I am positive I’ll be wearing these daily so that is why I’m debating on the 2 size reduction. The regular width of the boot is roomy and my foot is more average width and gets wider at the end of my toes so sizing down will not be an issue.

I am disappointed to find out that shearling is not on the insoles of these boots. I already have the Bryson shearling boots and they have "fur" under the soles of my feet; therefore, I assumed these boots would be the same, especially since it says "100% shearling lining and insole" on the Zappos website. Am not sure yet if this is a deal breaker or not; I just wish the explanation had been more clear. I like the height of the boots; they're taller than the Bryson shearling. Not sure yet how I feel about the buckle, whether I want to unbuckle it to put the boot on then fight to rebuckle it; it might be unnecessary. They're comfortable, but would be MORE comfortable with the shearling. Still thinking...

Super cute boots. Wanted to love them but the footbed was uncomfortable and didn’t feel anything like my other Birkenstocks. Returning them because they just aren’t comfortable.

Best boot ever! I wear an 8N and was on the fence about ordering these since it didn’t come in narrow. I ordered the 8-81/2. Sure they are a little wider than I like since I always wear bare feet in my boots but I am going to put a shearling sole in these and they will be perfect. I tried them with a boot sock and they are fine as well. These are definitely a keeper. Light weight too!

Beautiful boots made well. However, the foot bed (insole) is very cold in cold weather. The boot is lined with fleece, but not on the foot bed. Walking in cold weather, the top of my feet and ankles were very warm, but it felt like I was walking on ice and my feet became very cold. Returned sadly.

I wear Birkenstocks because I have problems with my feet. These boots were impossible for me to get on- the opening is not very big even if you unbuckle them. The sheepskin liner does not extend into the footbed.

Weirdly heavy, and no shearling on the bottom. Thought these might be a “fancier” pair of Ugg’s for winter but those were dealbreakers for me so I returned them.

These are plush and comfortable IF you want to wear an ankle sock. Barefoot, I can feel the hard edges of the leather footbed - not good. With a sock, no problem. But who wants to have to wear socks? Back they go.

I purchased shearling inserts and immediately put them in prior to trying them on and they fit comfortably and snuggly with thin socks. I tried them without socks and they are more comfortable that way. Being suede I am guessing they will stretch a little over time. I'm a 7.5 and bought the 38.

Perfect fit. Super comfy for those winter days. Wear with or without socks. Doesn’t have the usual Birkenstock foot bed, but still very comfortable. This is my favorite cold weather boot.

I bought these in the leather (not suede) and just got them. Walked all over the house and I am so impressed. To me, the footbed is really comfy and I'm glad it's not shearling. They look really good on my feet and the fit is better than I normally have in Birks. I wear a 41 EU but in their sandals I always have a fit issue so I ordered these in a 42 (thinking also about putting a sock in it) and the 42 works very well - wide footbed - and the sole is very nice, grippy rubber rather than the gum sole which causes me to trip.

After reading the reviews, I was concerned about the fit and feel of this boot. After wearing them, I can honestly say they are a perfect fit. I ordered my usual size in Birkenstock and was very happy with the fit. They were a tiny bit snug on top, but have stretched nicely after wearing a couple of times. As to comments about the lining; yes, the foot bed isn’t lined. I wear them with socks so that’s a nonissue for me. The foot bed itself isn’t the cork, but is very firm as Birks are and quite comfortable.
