I don't know if you could find a shoe with more warmth while being as practical as a shoe. I opt to wear these often over winter boots because of the ease of wearing them. They may take some breaking in but that's to be expected. I kept mine with laces loose to slip on and off without issue until I noticed the back wearing from my heal rubbing. Comfort at 0 degrees colder if active. I'm about to start my 3rd winter in these and they look nearly new. The grip is noticeably better but they aren't metal spikes

As I've gotten older, icy conditions, especially unseen "black ice", have become incredibly dangerous. I've tried to slide on ice with these Arctic Grip soles and can't do it. They make me very sure footed. Throw in being waterproof and insulated and they are the perfect shoe for winter conditions.

Right out of the box the shoes fit comfortably. I was concerned there was no extra wide fit as my toe box tends to be wider, particularly wearing thicker athletic or hiking Sox, but they fit great. I've been wearing now for a couple of weeks, whenever I walk the dogs or for my own errands and have worn them in icy and snowy conditions.
They keep my feet warm and dry and they have helped steady my stride on ice with the arctic grip. Getting very confident in the shoes performance.
Very pleased so far.
There was some initial rubbing on my left ankle bone but as I wear the shoes in, that has subsided. We live in the UP of Michigan so I have have put the shoes to the test this winter in cold, snow and ice and they leave me impressed so far. I don't wear in deeper snow but under normal conditions while shoveling, snow blowing or just walking for several hours at a time. Glad I made the purchase.

These shoes have great traction in snow or on wet surfaces, plus they are exceptionally comfortable.

I bought a pair last winter, I live in Alaska, this is the most awesome pair of shoes for snow and ice that I have owned. Nothing else like it. I have had two hips replaced and a plate in my wrist, falling is not an option. These shoes work as well as they are advertised to do. better than spiked shoes because I don't have to take them off when I enter a building, no floor damage. I can't say enough about them. If you live in a cold climate you need a pair of these shoes.

I live in big snow/ice country. I wanted a winter shoe so I don't have to wear clunky boots after the snow has been cleared on parking lots/sidewalks.
I've worn these shoes for some six weeks now; for me, they're "spot on"...particularly pleasing is the performance on icy surfaces.
Keep in mind - they're for winter. The insulation makes them feel a bit more snug when first worn. Some reviewers cited too narrow, I always take a medium width and these have just a wee bit narrower feel. Other reviewers cited the top edge rubs their ankles. For me, they just touch to bottom of my ankle; but not irritating. Again, they're for winter and I'm sure the designers wanted to give as much protection as they could. FYI, these shoes virtually match my Meindl hiking shoes for side height.
The top was a bit stiff at the beginning, too. Bottom line, it took about a half-dozen or so wearings to "break in".
Now, the key aspect for me. These are great in icy conditions. Noticeably better traction. Be mindful, one should still shorten your stride a bit,..you will get minor skid on glass ice but not big slide out. Chunky or rough ice, great gripping. But, again, evaluate the length of your stride and whether you're a "heel banger" and make adjustments.
A final point, for long walks there are still a few minor pinch points - at the break at the base of the big toes and outside edges of the base of the little toes.
A final point #2, when wet the soles make that squeaking sound as you walk across the tile floors in a store...just so you know.

This shoe is terrible. It hurt my ankle a lot to the point I could barely walk.

Since these were not wide set. My feet were squeezed on the tips of the shoe.

Good snug fit. Great traction sole. Solid well built . Great hot weather boot. LL Bean is vastly unpasteurized a shoe maker. Great bargain.

Work outside & don't want big heavy boots weighing me down. These are awesome, like wearing big warm sneakers.

Great grip on snow, dirt, mud, rock, good on ice. Last winter bought a pair, became my daily wear. Walked through creeks & rock trail all day in summer without problems.

This shoe is well made and super warm. Plenty of room for a nice warm sock. No real break in period. Great traction in the ice and snow. Also good to wear on walks in wet weather. They are also light enough to throw in a backpack while skiing.

I can't stand boots or anything really restricting my ankles, so these are great. I had to wait a bit for snow and ice, but it came this past week. The Snow Sneakers kept my feet warm, dry, and right where I put them. No slipping at all on snow, ice, or slush. I cover a significant radius in Pennsylvania so I went from wet snow/freezing rain in the middle of the state to hard snow and ice in the mountains up north. The shoes did well in all conditions.
They are pretty much right to size, and are much snugger than my Sketchers. I wear a 10 Wide in Sketchers, and the Snow Sneakers are at the edge of my width and length. A size larger would probably be too big for me. But if you like or need some extra room, i would say order a size larger than your normal shoes.
Next time we get good ice on the lakes I will try them ice fishing.

I ordered a size down from my normal women's size 8 and the fit is perfect even with a bunion. Comfortable and warm with my alpaca socks.

I wanted low winter shoes with the Artic Grip soles from Vibram. I searched and found only these. I read some of the negative reviews on this shoe and was worried that the top would hurt my ankles. But that was never an issue. These shoes are super comfortable. They are ultra well-made. More comfortable than the Merrell's that I had that these replaced. Merrell doesn't make a winter lace up low shoe with the Arctic grip bottom. They used to and those were great too but These shoes are superior with some nice leather trim on the uppers. I love these. They're warm. They're attractive. They're comfortable on my feet. I would buy them again.

Our area has had much less snow than normal since i bought them.. These shoes are very comfortable and perform exactly like the Hightop velcro boot version i have had for a while.
Caution. If you wear them inside, be careful on carpets. They have an aggressive tread pattern that can chew up your rugs.
