Customer Reviews New Balance 840v5

I’m not sure how New Balance did it, but they figured out how to make the new 840’s even uglier than the version 4. So not only did they make them uglier, but they ruined the comfort of the shoe at the back of the ankle and along the top of the forefoot. Such a shame as these were my go to shoe for my orthotics. Surprisingly they kept the same ABZORB midsole, but they ruined everything else about the 840’s with these unnecessary changes to the v5’s.

This V5 edition is inferior to the V4. There is a major dropoff in comfort. I can never understand when you have a great product, you discontinue it.

The footbed is still fairly comfortable, but the style is atrocious and the top of the shoe fits and rubs like the others didn’t. Please bring back older styles, without so much branding, and including just black/white options

It fit very well but it is nowhere near as comfortable as the V4. I have no idea why they changed the style. After two weeks, the sneakers began to get a "squeaky" sound.

Similar to the previous version of New Balance 840. A very good shoe for those of us with wide feet.

The 840v5 doesn't work for me like the 840v4 does. I have a 4-e width b/c of an extremely sensitive bunion and the v5 has a new decorative band that runs right across the most sensitive spot.... I'm so sad to see them phasing out the v4!!!!!

I bought it for my husband who only wear widthwide and straight. His feet is flat so it's hard to find comfortable width shoe. He has 840v4 that last long than any other shoe. Given headaches and pain knees from the shoe but 840v4 is good for him so now 840v5 update is more better than v4 ,more wider and more cushion around and more soft. Truly width wide. I needed to return the shoes as they were so big as well as heavy. For those reasons, they were awkward and uncomfortable.

I am disappointed in the quality of these sneakers, compared with the NB 840v4. The material lining the inside of the counter already has holes worn in it; previously this had never happened. I am uncertain whether I will purchase them again, which is a shame, as the fit is very good.

Fits is great.

These are the perfect 40 year old dad shoes. They’re comfortable. They don’t look too old like they’re from the 70s, they aren’t loafers, or anything like that. But also aren’t flashy, look at me shoes. They’re the perfect level of blend into the crowd shoes.

Fantastic shoe shame they went to fresh foam after this one will not buy another.

Perfect fit and very comfortable. Unfortunately, the newest version is quite a bit different and far less appealing.

Great shoe, sadly they changed the sole to fresh foam the next years model , so there goes that.

I'm a big guy and I wear these for work since I'm on my feet all day. I got tired of paying so much for the Brooks motion-control running shoes. These are a good second choice - especially on sale.
