I love these shoes and abuse them daily, even for running! Please remember if Altra shoes initially bother your feet/body, zero drop shoes take time to transition to from your elevated Nikes, etc.

LOVE! I am not a runner but I just had foot surgery on both of my feet and was looking for a comfortable shoe that has a roomy toe box and a natural shape to give me plenty of room. These shoes are very comfortable. I wear them all day every day and am ordering another pair of the same brand. Comfort is most important, but looks are a close second and these don’t disappoint. They don’t look like a geriatric orthopedic walking shoe like so many and they don’t make my foot look huge. I even wore them on the farm and got them dirty and they cleaned up beautifully. Highly recommend!

After 40 years of rheumatoid arthritis, bunions, and numerous foot surgeries, this is the first shoe that I can walk in without severe pain. I'm so grateful for these shoes. Thank you ALTRA!

Usually, I wear a 9.5 Wide -- but this style did not have any sizes in Wide, so I went with a 10 medium. The 10 medium worked fine in terms of both length and width. I'm not a runner and was only using the shoe for walking, errands, and such. But after only a few months of wear, both my feet and legs were hurting each time I wore the shoe. I figured out that the padding/sole of the shoe was failing after only a few months of wear the shoe had lost its cushioning. So while I did like the shoe, it did not hold up and did not last very long with moderate use. I had thought it would hold up with moderate use for at least a year. The shoe was not inexpensive so it was disappointing that it lasted such a short time. I do like Altra as a brand and have had better luck with other styles in the brand lasting longer.

Thank you for keeping this in the lineup for us to choose from. I don't mainly use this for running but rather as a shoe for work (minimal to moderate walking). Found out that when I wear these, it makes my legs feel better like I'm recovering well from my intense runs. I use Paradigm 7 for my runs.

The Torin 5 Lux is literally the only shoe in their lineup that fits my foot. Admittedly my foot is rather like Fred Flintstone's, though I am not overweight. I have just tried 5 other ones. They are either too narrow across the metatarsal region, too rigid, too tight to work. If I go to a wide Torin 6, it still doesn't fit as well. The Lone Peaks have a different footbed that is not as workable on my foot. BUT I did keep the Wide Lone Peak's Only for the traction. What I would LOVe to see is a Hiking shoe that would have enough room in the toe box and mid range with a regular heel fit.... but that may just be my dream.

I used this shoe on a five mile hike on an asphalt trail the day I bought it and a 5 mile hike on natural trails the next day. All good! First day my feet felt a bit tired at the end of the day, I think because I was using my foot muscles differently and better. I love the zero drop, the cushioning is just right for me, and unlike most shoes it fits great in front (love the width) and the heel (mine is narrow). This one felt better to me than the Torin 6, though that would have been my next choice if this Torin 5 Luxe were not available in my size. I would have had to have a 7.5 in the Torin 6. Size 7 in the Torin 5 Luxw was perfect for me. I look forward to wearing it in more situations.

Finally athletic shoes shaped like our feet. My closet is full of shoes I hoped would workbut the pointed shape always left my big toe sore. Awww! It is great to have support and cushioning with every step.

I use these as work shoes. I am on my feet quite a bit & running around on concrete floors all day. These keep my feet well cushioned & cool. I love them so much that I bought a second pair in a different color.

LOVE these shoes! I don't see a Torin 6 Luxe on the website, so I'm going to snag a couple more pairs of the 5 Luxe while I still can. They're the best walking shoes I've had in a long time.

Super comfortable once I adjusted to the slight toe rise. I wore it 2 hours a day for 2-3 days, then 4 hours, and soon I was wearing it all day and loving the feeling of comfort. I kind of forget that I have shoes on. This is a very good shoe for relieving the pain of bunions. The toe bed is wide and natural, meaning it follows the natural form of the foot instead of cramping the big toe against the 2nd toe. I wish that more colors were available in this style. I would definitely order another color, and might still do so anyway.

These shoes are great walking or running on concrete surfaces. I highly recommend them for people who have very sensitive feet such as myself. The arch support is wonderful and I feel very comfortable wearing them with or without socks. The best athletic shoes I ever purchased.

these are wonderful- the cushioning is fantastic for my 63 year old feet. I was a bit hesitant since this is on a slightly narrower footbed than the Lone Peaks, but the width was just fine. Altras tend to run small for me- this one is pretty similar to the others in terms of sizing. Great for walking around on hard surfaces.

I usually go up a full size for running shoes, but only went up half a size on these and they are great. So comfortable from day one. No breaking in was necessary for me. Tongue was a little stiff as other reviews have said, but it never bugged me. These shoes are extremely comfortable! I would and have recommend(ed).
