These might be the perfect hikers for people with wide feet. They are very comfortable and supportive yet too wide for my medium width feet. At first I thought that I must have been sent a wide width by mistake (nope). I recently bought the lone peak 5 and feel that the Insoles in the LP Alpine have more spring in them and the soles are slightly firmer (which I liked). Unfortunately I will be sending them back as there is no way for me to keep my foot secure without pulling the laces tight and scrunching-up the top fabric. The length is ample and comparable to the lone peaks.

Zero drop shoes aren't for me I guess. When I put these on, the footbed was very cushiony. They have a nice wide toe box and a narrow heel. Checked those boxes. I don't think there's much arch support though. When I kept them on for long enough, two of my middle toes on one foot just hurt. I tried them again and the same thing. So if you have hammertoe issues maybe keep looking. I think I need the front of a shoe to spring me off the ball of my foot more than these do.

I really wanted to like these shoes. Everything was right about them - the wide toe box, the comfortable sole, the light weight, the color, even the slightly funky wide-toe look. But in addition to having wide feet, I have long toes, and the shoes were just a bit short in the toe for me, so I had to return them. My sister had the same problem. I envy those who can wear them!

I've never had shoes like this. My husband swears by Altra, so I thought I would give them a try. I'm mostly a dog walker on concrete/asphalt, and my feet and legs fatigue easy but no serious problems. I wear between 7.5 - 8, and purchased the black in 8. I think the 7.5 would have been too short. I liked them so much that I purchased the taupe color too.

These shoes were perfect for my Utah hikes in Moab, Zion, and Bryce Canyon. I love them! They gripped the boulders and bounced over rocks on the trail. If they have some waterproof boots, I buy them for NW hikes.

I walk a lot, but I have problems with hammertoes and other foot issues. Therefore, I am in constant search for shoes I can wear comfortably. I'm Pleased to report I just returned from a month in Spain, easily walking 5 or more miles daily, and I am in love with these shoes. The original footprint sole creates a roomy toe box and it made all the difference. As a bonus, this Alpine style was dressy enough to wear into even into high end Madrid restaurants. Only complaint is the shoe laces. For some reason, even double knotted, they come loose. Seems there should be a simple solution there?

I love these shoes! One of my big toe's has such bad arthritis that the cartilage is now gone, and I ripped ligaments in that next toe, needless to say I need a wide/ deep pocket to walk on. These fit perfectly on my messed up feet.

Depending on the style, I wear size 8.5 or 9 in Altra shoes. The 8.5 in this style fit. I have a very wide forefoot and narrow mid foot and heel.... Yep, like a duck! I marked the width as being true to size, but most people would find it too wide. I can lace it tighter, yet still have room for my toes, neuroma and bunions... oh, what a relief!!! The only thing I would do different would be to add an arch support, as these have none. I can deal with no arch support as long as I don't have the burning pain from neuromas being pinched too tight. I wish Altra would branch out into dress street shoes as athletic shoes aren't always appropriate.

I love the shoe comfort but the canvas wore out at the toe bend and there is a hole now. Still tons of life left on the shoeexcept for the hole.

I can't give this shoe and company enough good reviews! My brother got me started with Altra shoes as my feet always hurt. Shoes if this brand have taken care of that! But, recently, my last pair tore up.. and my foot pain returned. I ordered a pair of this style, then after talking to my brother, realized my last were still under warranty. Altra got back to me within hours approving my warranty claim, and I ordered a second pair of this same style. Here's what I like: They are comfortable.. I think the best of all if the styles I've tried. In just a day or two my foot pain had totally disappeared again. ! I appreciate that they are a quality shoe. The sole looks and feels to be great quality and nice tread. It will be perfect to hike in the mountains as well as to continue working on my feet all day as a homemaker cooking, cleaning and caring for my large family. The leather and canvas are also beautiful quality. I can't give this shoe enough good reviews. I absolutely love the color of the lavender and grey pair. The others I ordered, the taupe, are not the same color as they appeared online on my phone screen.. but a dark grey/w greenish hue. I haven't decided if I like the color on these.. but the comfort is still over the top!

My toes finally aren't crunched together. Original Fit all the way. I wish you'd partner with someone who makes dress shoes, booties, etc., and that you'd have more stylish colors and patterns (ex. all white, all black).

Pleasantly suprised at how comfortable these were straight out of the box. I was worried that they seemed to have only light arch support, but took them on a trip to Europe shortly after purchasing. Loved the wide toe box. They were amazingly comfortable for lots of walking even on uneven surfaces. I have put on lots of miles walking in these (3-5 miles a day) and they are still comfortable. I sprayed them with scotchguard before we left which worked great - we went to Mt. Etna and the grey volcanic dust brushed right off. Thinking about getting a second pair to keep for when these wear out.

This is already my second pair as i wear them so often i wanted to get another color for some variety. They are incredibly comfortable and had no break in period. I was worried the light color would get dirty faster than my grey pair, but so far i've been able to brush off any dirt and it has been fine. By far my favorite shoes.

These are working out great for me. I've had other Altras but these seem the best so far. Whether a shoe works for you is pretty individual to your feet I think -my feet are pretty flat and wide at the toe end and kind of big overall. I think I favor the original foot shape which these have. These shoes seem so much more substantial than the others I had and more cushy, but not too. If I had any complaints about Altras before, it was that they seemed flimsy and wore quickly. These seem to be made of more durable stuff - more canvas than thin nylon, thicker suede-like panels at the toes vs rubber, lots of reinforced lace eyelets with the top-most having a metal ring. They fit really well out of the box. They might be heavier than other Altras I've had, but I will use them mostly for road and trail walking, so that's not much of an issue. I really like these.

Wanted to love them. Nice looking shoe, love the color and the suede accent, love the roomy toe box Too much toe spring relative to too much cushion made me feel like my toes were perched over a cliff - not what I expect or want from a minimalist shoe. Maybe a larger size is more comfortable but I wear a 7 and the feeling of standing on a cliff edge is very pronounced. I don't think toe spring belongs in a minimalist shoe anyway.

I have bought 9, yes, pairs of these shoes! Please never discontinue this style! My L4 is slipped in front of my L5, and these shoes help me survive teaching on my feet each day. I do have one request. PLEASE bring back the darker grey/black color. The light grey color is too light with darker pants, and the darker color hides dirt and spots well. These shoes are a lifesaver.

Please restock SAND in Women and Men. Many prefer the subtle look of your tan and neutral tones. Also, prefer the street shoe look of this style rather than the stark contrast of upper and white lower that resembles a club foot.

I LOVE these shoes. I love the shape, so comfy. It's just too bad they're only available for women in such drab colors. I took a sharpie to the suede and added green laces
