Torin-5-wide leather:) is outstanding. #1. I am able to move my toes up and down within the toebox, & Good toe spray #2. I can actually wear thick wool socks or two pair of socks without taking the insole out #3. The aesthetics on top of the shoe is somewhat a modern wingtip~ For those who remember wingtip shoes:-/The two pair of Birkenstocks in the photograph are called Montana black leather size 45 Euro and The Dundee Suede 45 Euro, The other shoe is the Altra Cayd 12-1/2 u.s. I wear the shoes for duty; Rotating them every day. If this Toru 5 wide Came in a low-cute boot, and just a tad more generous toebox space(more oblique, more ergonomically & biomechanically correct) Where are the big toe could be more straight out, Something like the Birkenstock Montana, That would be outstanding, And if they came in ox-blood color red or medium brown and the gray color, And white ones in high top,That also would be outstanding doctors and nurses in culinary people to like get them Quickly(Because of the comfort of being level with gravity & being able to move your toes free. Altra your wide shoes are just more foot- shaped, many of your shoes that I would buy they are actually narrowing the forefoot , If you don't stay ahead of the curve, they're are three companies out there that make shoes that are shaped like a normal human healthy foot, Most biomechanically ~ ergonomically correct oblique toebox, No spring toe: Completely level with the ground from toe to heel &Anatomical toebox & Ergonomic 4foot.

I'm a sheriff's deputy and a long time fan of Altras. I've owned every pair of Torins and a few others. I've been searching for a foot shaped zero drop option for work for years. The closest I could come was Danner Tachyon training boots. Policy dictates a black leather polishable shoe or boot. Already came through! I'll be picking up extras when I can afford it so I'll get to enjoy these for as long as humanly possible. They are holding up to the riggers of a patrol deputy work load well so far.

I bought this shoe mainly as a more comfortable, foot-friendly alternative to a traditional dress shoe to wear to the office, church, etc., but this actually works fine for me for regular running as well (although I didn't buy them for daily running). The leather upper is surprisingly soft and light weight, not the slightest bit stiff. From a running standpoint, I appreciate the very slight change in the last of the shoe relative to the Torin 4.5. The Torin 4 Plush and Torin 4.5 seemed to make my feet want to role toward the lateral edge and underpronate, whereas they stay in a more neutral position in the Torin 5, which I can't attribute to anything other than the tiniest of differences in the shape of the last. Also, the new EgoMax midsole material is quite bouncy. (The old Torin with Quantic felt great when new but quickly changed from feeling new to feeling dead. We'll see how EgoMax holds up...) I'd highly recommend these as an alternative to a dress shoe for anybody who can get away with it, and based on my experience with these, I think I will soon buy a regular non-leather Torin to add to my running rotation as well.

I absolutely cannot recommend these to anyone who wants a long lasting durable shoe. After 3 months they are falling apart and worn down considerably. Very comfy and lightweight. I won't be a return buyer.

"Too narrow" is relative to their past shoes. I have to order a wide width now when I didn't in the past. As long as they keep making them in a 15w, I'll keep buying them.

When I wear these shoes I have better balance and my feet do not hurt. I used to have to take my shoes off in the car. If I walk a great distance, they are very comfortable. Not now. Glad I purchased the shoe. I was helped by my podiatrist with the selection and size.

I had on light socks (tan). It was raining and I did not walk through puddles. The uppers got wet but NEVER have I had a pair of running shoes do this to me! My wife called Altra customer service and they said that is the shoes got wet, it is our fault. They are not quarantined or returnable even though they are faulty. These are expensive shoes I bought for plantar fasciitis and bone spurs. I wore black leather boots that were not waterproof in the Army and this NEVER happened! Heavy soap and scrubbing with a brush only took 145 of the dye off.

Got it two weeks ago. It's awesome. Wide enough as I'd hoped, and cushy. Only thing I'd do for the next one is provide more color options! But for me it's the shoe I've been looking for!!! Thanks!!!

These fit great. I bought a pair of the Lone Peak wide when they first came out. Very comfortable. Have swelling in my feet after heart and knee surgeries, and need wide shoes now. Those was a dark blue color, and I suggested that they come out with wide in an additional light color, like their khaki ones, for summer. Eventually, they came out with the Torins in wide, but they were dark too. Then they added wides with solid leather tops and anti-slip soles in solid black and solid gray. I got the gray because I no longer have a job that requires black. I'd been hoping for solid topped black Altras with anti-slip soles for years. Now that I'm not required to have black anti-slip shoes for work, they have them. Figures. (*_*) These are great! If you need solid top anti-slip soles for work, you should check these out. I can't say how these anti-slip soles would stand up to a greasy kitchen floor, because I don't do that anymore. But they work great for what I do now, and they do say "slip resistant" one the soles. That's usually a good sign. Anyway, the gray is a nice light shade and the solid tops should be great for winter. I might get a pair in black for a casual dress type of shoe too. Very comfortable. I will definitely buy these again, and would recommend to friends. ....but seriously you guys, khaki Lone Peaks in wide for summer would still be nice. Dark hiking shoes show the dirt and dust really fast. And light colors are nice in the hot summer sun. ....just a thought.

I have been wearing only Altra shoes for about 10 years. I wear them for work and personal use. At work, I'm constantly standing and walk 8-12 miles a shift. My profession requires all black shoes. I have been modifying mostly black Lone Peak mids to all black for work. I will continue to do so with the Lone Peaks but now I have added these all black Torins to the rotation. Altra should make more shoes completely black (Lone Peak, Lone Peak mids, Olympus). These Torins feel great. I just got them but I doubt I will have any problems with them. If I do I'll update this review.

The leather model looks great, is discrete, and easily suitable for work. I tried both medium and wide Torin 5 leather shoes. By comparison, I'm currently wearing Torin 4 and 4.5 plush. The 5 medium feels a bit snug, like the 4.0, while the wide has lots of room, wider than the 4.5. The medium also feel cramped above the large toe, while the wide does not. Someone who feels the Torin 4 is tight will find this new wide version much more comfortable. The leather is less forgiving and doesn't stretch like the mesh, but will probably last longer, as the mesh wears thin on my shoes. I think this shoe is a well thought trade off between the airiness of mesh vs the appearance of leather. The leather isn't good for exercise but is a nice option for someone needing an all day shoe and prefers the zero drop and wide, roomy toe box.

Purchased in late January of '23. Already sole separation as of July. And now the outside of the right shoe is all worn out. Not nearly sturdy enough for a shoe I paid $150+ for.

I was hesitant to purchase these shoes because of the other reviews but I decided to ignore them and purchase the shoes anyway. I was very disappointed because the sole started to peel away from the shoes. I only wore them one day. So disappointed.

Very comfortable shoes, I love them. However, I have been wearing those for 40 hours a week for 3 weeks and the tres is already wearing off, and a piece of the sole is falling off. I would expect them to last much longer than not even a month.

The shoe is overall comfortable, but the toe box is extremely weirdly shaped, giving your bigger toes ample room and absolutely crushing your small toes. The shoe bends sideways at the toe.

I really like this shoe for daily use. It's comfortable, however, after 32 days the sole started coming apart on both shoes. Going to try and see if Altra will take it as a return/exchange. Hoping trying another pair will work.

Love the fit and comfort, but tread stared coming apart after only a few weeks (probably wore them only 5-6 times. Sending them back and looking for something else. One extra star is for the quick, easy customer service!

Love these shoes however the tread on both shoes is starting to separate from the soles within the first month. These shoes are my second pair and they both have the same defect. Will be returning them.

Love Altra shoes. I have a pair of lone peaks, torin 4.5 and rivera running shoes. The Torin 5 leather don't measure up! The soles of these are not very slip resistant and lost their tread after 2 months. the left sole is completely coming off. I was excited for a non slip shoe with a wide toe box. I have worked in restaurants for over 30 years and typically replace shoes once a year. These lasted 2 months. I don't mind paying top dollar, but they should last at least 6 months if not more. The uppers are good and the midsole is cushy as expected from Altra. Super dissapointed! For the price you should get more than 2 months of wear!!!

I'm a UPS delivery driver. These shoes after about two weeks are peeling way from the toe. The sole of the shoe also began to peel. Had to cut it because of catching on things. I don't think these shoe are worth the money

I use my Torin 5 shoes for my everyday work shoes. I am a letter carrier, and having a lightweight shoe with full leather.uppers is perfect for the job. Most conventional big name shoe companies run narrow or feel like if I have the right width, they are too big. Highly recommend
