Rubber heel appears to be hollow causing the shoes to squeak non stop when walking on them.

Major disappointment! Have worn Merrells's for years - Moabs. Toe box too narrow resulted in sore feet. All other Merrill's' have been true size. Have worn size 14, medium width. These shoes disappointed!

Purchased these a couple months ago and although they are decently comfortable, the elastic ties are way too long to properly tighten around my feet without having way too much excess after. There is almost 14 inches of excess tie left over when I am able to tighten them properly.

Over a year ago I bought a pair of these online and from day one every time I stepped down the heel would make a squeak/rubbing noise. Luckily when I posted my review about this the seller refunded my money. Fast forward to now and buy another pair from different online seller and they have the same problem. Every time I step down there is a very noticeable squeak coming from the heel. It's not the insole, the noise seems to be from the outside side piece that says Merrell rubbing against the sole material (my best guess). I want the Chameleon shoe that was sold years ago.

I previously purchased a pair of these Merrill shoes. However this latest pair of Chameleons proved to be narrow along the toe area. I'm was very surprised to use the newer pair versus the older pair I still have. I used them hoping they needed to be "broken in" but to no avail. These chameleons are defective in the manufacturing process. Buyer beware of this occurrence

After having worn Chameleons for 10+ years, the Chameleon 8 is the first time I've been disappointed. The sole is much stiffer than previously versions. The older version, felt like slippers on my feet, and performed great through many miles of intermediate hiking. They Chameleon 8 feels like a work boot, with much less flex. This may be good for some, but if your going to change the feel this much, make it a new line- don't ruin a shoe that has been great for so many for so long...

These are super comfortable shoes. However, it felt like I was on ice skates because the sole is narrow and tall, and I almost rolled my ankle twice. Sent them back.

I ordered TTS, but unfortunately they feel too large. I would have exchanged them but I wore them twice thinking maybe I wasn't tightening the lace correctly. When I fasten the laces there's so much extra fabric hanging down I have to tie it in a knot to prevent it from dragging. There's also heel slippage on long hikes so they're definitely too big and seem to have stretched over time.

The new vibram sole is not close to the comfort and adaptability of the old Merrell Select Grip sole.
My previous chameleons were simply the most comfortable shoes I ever owned. The new ones are merely average, but still priced at the same stratospheric level.

After the Cham2, when they made them with shorter & tighter neoprene around the ankle, difficult to wear over long periods of time. My Cham 2 are falling apart & I've been hoping for a version that matches the comfort & durability, hasn't happened yet, doubt if it ever will.

The materials used on the upper toe sections are inferior to the same shoe purchased 5 years ago...the toe box seems to be larger and higher than last purchase. Truly not satisfied and cannot recomend this shoe.

I don't know what kind of minuscule feet this shoe is designed for but it's not adult humans, I couldn't even get my size 9.5 foot more than 3 inches into the size 10 shoe because it was rock hard and not "stretch" for any definition of that word

Do you have a high arch? Don't bother getting these. They aren't the same as that older versions. Unless my arch changed on it's own, I can no longer wear theese due to what ever changes the made to the opening size.

I love Merrell shoes and have bought many Chameleons over the years. It was my favorite. Then a while back, Merrell altered the shoe so drastically I couldn't even get it on over my instep. Thankfully, they then veered back closer to the original a couple years ago. Sadly, this chameleon 8 is a disappointing departure from their winning formula. Please bring back the Chameleon classic! In the meantime, I'm happy with my Merrell Nova 2s, but I still miss the Chameleon classic

I really enjoyed these at first. Extremely comfortable and like the slip on feature. I mainly work in an office but occasionally have to go out in the field so I wanted something comfortable but tough. The problem is they are falling apart after only two months of light use. I've got holes wearing in the toes of both shoes and the sole is starting to split at the toe on the left shoe. It's a shame with how comfortable they are and how well they fit my lifestyle but I won't waste my money on another pair of merrells

Got a problem. The left shoe has developed a loud squeak in the heel, and it is getting louder. How do I return it for a replacement?

I recently purchased my 7th pair of Merrell Chameleon shoes and I must say I am highly disappointed. As someone who has been a long-time fan of Merrell products, I had high expectations for these shoes but was let down in multiple ways.
Firstly, the comfort level is significantly lower compared to the previous model of Chameleons. The shoes are not as cushioned as I expected, which makes them extremely uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. The soles of the shoes also seem to be harder, causing my feet to ache after just a few hours of wear.
Additionally, the shoes squeak terribly, which is an incredibly frustrating and embarrassing issue. The squeaking is so loud that I can hear it with every step I take and it has become a source of embarrassment in public settings. I never would have imagined that a pair of shoes could be this loud and disruptive.
All in all, I am extremely dissatisfied with my purchase of the Merrell Chameleon shoes. I would not recommend these shoes to anyone and suggest that Merrell takes a closer look at the quality and comfort of their products.

Been wearing these for years but the quality is not the same. The last ones I bought were like a medieval torture device pressing on my ankle causing severe pain. I do not recommend.

I've worn Merrill's for years and have loved every pair, until these. They squeak when I walk. I thought they would wear in after a few days, but after two weeks of wearing every day, they are getting worse. I even tried replacing the insoles, to no avail. They seem more like cheap department store shoes than the kind of quality expect from Merrell

Brand new out of the box both shoes are squeaking bad, thought maybe after a few days it would stop, nope still doing it. This is my 3rd pair of Chameleon 8 the 2 others are fine, love them. The other 2 pairs are blk not sure if it's the green ones or I just got a bad pair.

As you can see from the attached photos I was a devoted chameleon wearer. Not after the dark pair wears out. The quality and comfort are not there anymore. The 8 have an indentation in the heel bed that you may not see in the photos but it's there. These used to be the most comfortable shoes ever. Not anymore.

I have been buying chameleons for over 20 years. Best shoe ever. But with the chameleon 8 that I just purchased, the arch is not right. I returned one set and I am wearing my second pair today. Same feeling. But this time in both shoes

This is not the Chameleon that used to be. Too narrow. Too stiff. At one time these were a nice alternative utility shoe. Now it's a boot without the lacing support a boot needs. I've got plenty of proper boots. I don't know what to do with this shoe. This would have been my 4th pair but too many design changes ruined this once great shoe. Merrill- bring back the Chameleon III. The 8 is junk.

Shoe very comfortable but on rough terrain the narrow sole profile allows your foot to role. The sole profile is more than 1/4in less than my earlier model
