The support expected from the shoe was compromised by the looseness of the fabric.

Please go back to the 26 or 27 design. The 28 is painful in the heel and not the same shoe as the 26 & 27. Had to send back and switch to Brooks after many years in the Kayano. :(

They hurt my feet. I can't wear them. I like the Kayano 27s much better. They feel so much better.

This shoe feels narrower than the last Kayano in the same size. The heel counter around the ankle is shorter than the GT1000, and so it slips off or rubs when I walk. I bought these to be walking shoes, and in my opinion, they are terrible for that. Kayano 28 is made in Indonesia. Old Asics were made in Vietnam and were better quality I feel. The final bad quality about these shoes when I tried them on, is that the left eva foam of the shoe is rock solid and the right shoe is squishy. So it feels like I'm walking on a pebble, and it causes a different ankle alignment only on my left foot. Had I tried these shoes on in person, I would not have bought them.

I'm sure that this shoe fits some customers, but it did not work for me because of the lack of adequate side platform to make it stable. The shoe leans to the outside and does not support my entire foot. It does not have the STABILITY of the Gel Kayano 27. I simply could not wear it. I'm disappointed that it was so extremely different from the GK 27. Did any other customers notice this basic, game-changing difference? I would really like to know if this will be the way all Gel Kayanos will be constructed in the future. ASICS is the only brand I have worn for years, and I would hate to have to change, but this is a big deal to me. Stability is everything. Could you please reply to me about this?

Love the colors of them but unfortunately the sole started falling off after barely wearing them. Loved my 27s but the 28s were a let down and not even close to as comfortable as the 27s. Would not recommend.

I have worn the different variations of this shoe for the past five years. This particular model does not fit me well and I ended up with several blisters after three short runs in them. I tried to find out if I could return it and they told me only at a store and only for a partial refund. We don't have an Asic store and so am stuck with an expensive pair of shoes I can't run in. Disappointed.

Much narrower than other brands of same size and width, such as Brooks and New Balance.

I purchased these shoes and wore them today for the first time. While they were very comfortable when I put them on, with plenty of room in the toe box, the way the shoe is designed with the plastic portion on the inside section of the shoe, caused my feet to rub in an odd way and I got blisters on both of my feet. I wanted to return them, but since they were worn today, for four miles of use, they are not returnable (according to their service rep) nor are they wearable. As a result, I will not purchase ASICS again. Lesson learned - they have lost a customer.

The Gel Kayano 28 is nothing like the 27. I am a nurse who stands and runs for many hours a day. This model kills my feet. Went back to my old 27's!

Too narrow. Wide is not wide at all. If anything...narrow width.

so so different from past versions, i cant even wear them. i thought i got a missized pair at first and ordered two new ones! it wasn't the sizing, this version is just very different from past versions. I can no longer purchase as I have horrible blood blisters on the sides of my feet after wearing on/off for over a month.

I am so unhappy right now. I have extremely narrow feet (2A’s are often still too wide) and for the past few years the Asics Gel Nimbus models have been my go to for running. They were perfect, so comfortable and secure, I ran injury free and the shoes felt good on my feet. Asics made the decision to not carry the Nimbus in narrow anymore so with trepidation I ordered the Kayano and hoped for the best. I was right to be worried, because having worn these for a few months I am now nursing plantar fasciitis in both my feet and am entering physical therapy to try to repair the damage done. I hated how the shoe felt on, like that oddly designed low heel was going to slip off the back, and while I was able to wear them at first, aside from the heel issue they seemed to fit, I now realize that these shoes are causing me injury. Of course, now that I ran in them, they aren’t returnable so I’m out that money, but more to the point what am I going do for a running shoe? Once I heal from this injury, who is going to make a narrow running shoe that will work for me? It is so frustrating to have a company that you depend on let you down by discontinuing a needed and trusted product.

I've worn this shoe for 10 years. The latest version 28 is terrible or counterfeit. I got the same size as usual and can't even get it on my foot without a shoehorn. It's so small and unsupportive but is marked the correct size

Been a Kayano runner for 10+ years. The back heel frays and breaks down within a week. Contacted ASICS for support and it was indicated that there was nothing wrong with the shoes. Recommend trying a previous model or finding a new brand because it's no longer durable.

This will be my last pair of ASICS. I would return them if there were any other narrow options left in stock. The back tab behind the heel is too low and squishy and it’s very hard to get the shoes on without bunching it down. The laces are funky — the top eyelets are made of laces and the lacing is tricky. Once they are on properly, they are fine. But they are super annoying to put on.

The left heel/ankle padding has dropped into the heel of the shoe after less than a month of wear (and not daily wear). It has affected the fit and comfort of the shoe. I have worn gel-kayano shoes for years and have never had this happen.

I have been running/walking in ASICS for YEARS...several different models; but discovered about 3 years ago that the GEL Kayano was the best shoe for me as I was recovering from plantar fasciitis. My 27s wore out. So, I upgraded to the 28s. I have worn them less than 10 times for running, with minimum of 3.5 miles each time...maximum 8 miles. My ankles have been so sore since starting with these shoes and the toe box is slimmer which has totally messed up my toes...losing one toenail and possibly a second. For just walking or errand running, they are fine; but for any serious running, I give them a thumbs down! PLEASE bring toe box back to how it was and undo whatever y'all did to cause ankles to hurt. I really don't want to have to go back to drawing board in search of new brand/model of running shoes!

I have worn Asics for years. As a Peds nurse, shoes are the one thing I splurge on. Sadly, these are no where near as good as the 27's. They feel so hard and my feet hurt so bad. I wore them twice and went back to old pair of 27's.

I bought these my coworkers/nurses at my job recommended them. But I have to return them. Hurting my feet in the ankle area and on the arch aspect.. Not for my type of feet. I go home in a excruciating pain that's is unbearable! ;(

I have never in my life had a problem with Asics - any brand. I've also owned other Gel-Kayanos. But...this pair made all my toes go numb except my big toe. I desperately wanted to love these - but I tried 4 times on 4 mile walks each and they are just so uncomfortable. Who knows what is going on. Maybe I got a bad pair but again, I've never had this problem with Asics. I returned them - Thank you Zappos! You Rock :-)
