I got these a week ago and wanted to put them through the ringer on a 22 mile traverse of the NH Presidential range a.k.a. the Presidential Death March before I wrote a review. These are bar none the most comfortable hiking boot I've ever worn! For years I've been searching for the perfect hiking boot, and I thought I had found it with the speed goat. Don't get me wrong the speed goat is an incredible shoe. But if you want something that can stand up to mile after mile of jagged, pointy granite rocks, tree roots and mud. While still being able to turn it on and run, this is your boot. From stability (the slightlyextended heel provides great braking on the downhills) , to comfort (not one blister in 22 miles), to grip (these grip like velcro to just about anything from wet rocks to mud). The extra leather will definitely make these more durable against the rocks and roots on the trail that shred most other trail runners. If you want a boot that offers the durability and protection that a boot offers, but moves and feels like a trail runner this is it!

I'm a mail carrier and use these up here in South Dakota, my feet stay warm and they have good grip.

Very comfortable, very little break in required. Took these on a seven miler right out of the box with no issues.
I know Hoka rates these as medium cushioning, but they feel more plush than my Bondi 6. They are much more cushioned than my previous hikers, the adidas terrex free hiker.
I usually go a half size down with hoka, and these were consistent with that formula.

Hoka, I love you. I am (or was) suffering from plantar fasciitis in my right foot. These shoes stabilize my ankle and provide such amazing shock absorption that if you suffer from plantar fasciitis, these could be the miracle shoe for you!! My foot has finally found relief. Thanks Hoka!!

I purchased this boot because I needed something comfortable to help prevent my plantar fasciitis from flaring up. I received the boots, broke them in for about a month, and then used them on a backcountry trip with my daughter. We hiked 30+ miles through some very rough and wet terrain. I was very pleased with how these boots held up, and I did not experience any foot pain.

I love HOKA and Zappos has the best price that I've seen for these Anacapa's..... but, I wasn't aware of the select size 10.5D ( The D) meaning width. I actually had to research info for this online. The width is very wide in the toe area for me on this pair. I'm going to return for a size 10 instead and compare for future purchases. Thanks Zappos

I train law enforcement and military personnel in the Midwest. I'm always looking for a lightweight good fitting shoe for summer tactical training. Our facility is a former quarry with a wide range of surfaces: solid rock, gravel, heavy woods, rocky cliffs and a mine. The stability and traction of the HOKA provides cushion, comfort and support in all areas. So far, the durability has been very good under some rough conditions. My only minor complaint is the blue accents on the desert tan boot...that could prevent them from meeting military standards for those who have flexibility in choosing their gear. They would work equally well for warm weather hiking.

True to size. Very comfortable after an hour of use. No arch support but I use custom insoles. Material isn’t as high of quality as I hoped for the price but still good quality. Happy with them and will purchase another pair of hoka’s soon.

Light weight, stable with excellent cushioning. I wore these on a moderate mountain trail, rocky with 1,000 ft elevation gain in two miles. These boots were comfortable throughout the hike.

Excellent shoes for work. The orange pieces cause some pressure, the front of the shoe is wider than expected. The shoe fits a little loose but only a little. Despite those small things overall, very good quality

Great hiker.. light weight, cushioning ( reminded me of my speed goat), absolutely no break in needed. Like the Hoka speed goat 4 it feel like maybe half a size big. But it wasn't enough for me to return it for a smaller size.

After several years and pairs Hoka stopped making wide hikers
I loved my wide Gore Tex ; they helped with my back pain and arthritis. I'd hoped these would be a good substitute but they're not the same . So disappointing Hoka has pushed aside us older people with wide flat feet lol . My Gore Tex were as strong as any work boot .

Quite comfortable. I needed to go up a half size to compensate for medium width instead of wide.

These were very comfortable straight out of the box. Very lightweight. I have now had them for almost a year, and they have lasted very well in heavy use (walking over 10,000 steps/day). They are still waterproof and do not leak in the rain, unlike previous boots I have purchased.
