I’ve had a pair of soft toe Keen for years. I’ve appreciated the wide toe box. I only ever shoe with wide toe boxes, ie, Altra, TOPO, and Keen. These Keen Utility aluminum toe are not typical Keen design. the shoe felt great except for the pointy toe box. I had immediate discomfort. My pictures illustrate the problem best. it’s sad they choose to use standard safety toe caps instead of patterning a cap after the shape of shoe that defines their brand. I would not recommend these to anyone unless you do not have a big toe.

I was leery to buy more work shoes, as my last pair was a completely fail. After some extensive research, these Keens seemed like a perfect fit for my needs. All that research has definitely paid off! These are hands-down the most comfortable work shoes I have ever owned; more so in fact than some of my normal shoes. They are super light, snug on my foot, and my back did not hurt after being on my feet for a long shift. The only drawback is that the composite toe made my toes very warm, but once I switched to athletic socks, that heat went away. Highly recommend!!!

Safety shoes in general are not comfortable at all but I do say these are the most comfortable ones I have had so far, I am an Amazonian and I stand on my feet for 10+ hours every shift I work

Don't buy these shoes, they're really good at trapping debris from weeds in them. I wore them outside for really light hiking around a racetrack for one day and I'll probably spend over an hour have to pick all the stuff out of them, really bad design for something that goes on feet. I normally really like Keens and wear them in this environment but this is not a utility shoe, it's a poorly designed running shoe that should never be on anything but paved surfaces. Also found the toe protection to cause discomfort, which in previous Keen shoes wasn't an issue.

The shoe itself feels amazing and the safety toe is comfortable and easy to walk with. It does feel wider than normal though. There isn't much arch support either as the portion of my foot between the ball and heel of my feet starts to hurt and ache by the end of my shift and just compounds over multiple days. expect to have to purchase insoles. Speaking of insoles, when I tried to purchase some and placed the oem insole on the other they are wider than the store bought insole. I may have to purchase them from Keen Utility which from the looks of it can be quite expensive.

At last, a perfect fitting wide safety shoe! With wide feet, it is quite common to find the toe box of safety shoes too narrow. It seems like most manufacturers use a "one size fits all" approach to the toe shield. Having tried and returned several others, these Keen Utility's have got it right.

Pain, pain, pain. The wide width is barely wide enough for me, even though I sized up to a men's size 7 instead of a 6 or 6.5. I normally wear minimalist shoes and can walk without ever feeling pain or fatigue. With safety shoes I am tortured. Standing on the insole my toes go over the edge. The safety toe cap is round like all the others, so that the outer toes are cramped. Stiffish sole, toe spring, raised heel. The collar around the opening presses into my achilles tendon and my ankle bones. Feel pain in places I never though possible: under the heel, under the ball of the foot, arches, and knees. Another pair of shoes that causes more damage to the body than the toe caps prevent. The main thing they accomplish is to reduce my productivity.

Good shoe. It is stable and supportive. Mostly my feet hurts after wearing working shoe but this one is good. Soft on the heel and hard obviously where the safety toe is. The only complaint I got is it’s kinda chunky. But it doesn’t have a weight to it which is positive side of it. I’ll buy it again. Keen shoes you can never go wrong on them.

I purchased these Keen Vista Energy safety shoes for my job at an Amazon XL facility. Ten hour shifts on a hard warehouse floor and operating PIT equipment. These Keens are very comfortable. Took only about one shift to break them in fully and now they feel just like regular tennis shoes, but with a composite carbon fiber safety toe. Because it's an Amazon XL facility, we are required to wear safety toe shoes. True to size for me. I would say that they run a tad bit wide, but I think that once you wear some comfortable, heavier socks and use aftermarket insoles, then you'll be just fine. If you're a warehouse worker, I'd recommend some better, more structured insoles. I'm going to try the Superfeet and the Dr. Scholl's Max Support insoles. I'd definitely buy these Keens again. For reference, I have a size 14 foot that's long and relatively flat. Not much arch. I bought the size 14-D Keens and they fit perfect. I got the Steel Grey/Baleine Blue color and they look great with jeans. They don't look like work shoes at all.

It is my humble opinion that KEEN makes the best work shoes. I think I am normal in terms of physical measurement, 5'-10", 160 lbs with normal feet. I've tried New Balance and Reebok and both have issues with the composite toe protection where it constantly puts pressure on my big toe. The discomfort is tolerable but compared to the KEEN it's night and day. I would highly recommend KEEN above any other brands.

I'm normally a women's 10 but I will tell you there is no women's 10 and a 1/2 half. : ) Men's 9 wide EE is like a women's 10 and a half of Vista Energy is a Godsend for 12 hour shifts. I could even put in insoles. Keen K20 cushion ex, in my case, men's MD equivalent and wiggle toes.

I am female and prefer a wider shoe. My normal size in women's is an 8.5/9 W and after several months of daily use the men's size 7 are still very comfortable.

Keen is my go to shoe for the concrete floors in Amazon. I've tried 9 different shoes and these are by far the most comfortable. They last just about a year. Usually the inside wears out before the sole.

I'm a 10.5 D in most shoes but go up half a size and 2E as the toe doesn't break-in much on safety toe shoes. These feel far closer to a pure sneaker than I ever expected. The Vista's are very breathable, lightweight, have a good flex to make kneeling feel fluid and have excellent grip but don't catch on rubber mats which are sometimes an unexpected hazard with soft soled heavily lugged work shoes. On the short list of wants is a leather topped toe as the safety toe doesn't seem to flow air even if hit with an air hose so may as well make it more durable. I expect the toe to get shredded in short order when brushing up on unfinished metal edges or even the underside of low shelving. There is a nice accent of synthetic like leather around the lace eyelets which looks to be a great touch for durability; if only it extended down to the toe that would be a highly functional/style compromise. Even if these only last six or so months the comfort is a worthwhile upgrade and brings noticeable relief of sweaty toes in the summertime vs a very well worn, uniquely comfortable and much loved pair of Thorogood 8" leather steel toe moc boots. I will be back for replacements when these wear out. If the Keen team is listening, please make one with dark gray accents as the white strip along the heel will look very dirty in short order.
I'd also recommend:
Thorogood, Topo, Specialized, Sidi, Alpinestars

Be specific about your likes and dislikes. How was the fit and size? What does the material feel like? How awesome (or not) do you feel wearing them?

I have this same style shoe in a women’s wide and was advised by a Zappos representative that a mens wide would be wider to better accommodate my insoles. I order this one and it was actually smaller than my womens. It seems like it may be mislabeled because there is no way that this shoe should be smaller. The picture says it all. The show on the right is the women size and you can plainly see it’s wider then the mens show on the left. I retuned them since I was really hoping it would be bigger to accommodate my insoles

These shoes likely caused me plantar fasciitis. I’ve worn them for four weeks and have experienced heel and plantar pain in places I’d never imagined. I showed these shoes to a podiatrist who immediately pointed out the extreme degree of toe spring. Combined with the stiff outsole, the shoes were holding my toes in constant dorsiflexion. In retrospect, I started developing issues after the first day, which I chalked up to the mandatory break-in period. In my 36 years as an endurance athlete, I’d never once experienced foot pain for any reason until I started wearing these to work. So please, beware the forefoot profile of these shoes.

Problem with larger shoes over size 12 men; instead of the toe ending in a rounded toe fit, large shoes tend to come to a point at the toes. With steel toe this is a fatal flaw. Have gotten 4 pairs on Zappos for work with steel toe sizes 13Wide, 14Wide, 14Wide, and 14Wide. I normally wear 13 size shoe. All four I've gotten the steel toe smashes my pinky toe in making it unusable. My feet are normal not fat. I have normal feet and skinny legs. For 10 to 12 hour works shifts that I have to be on my feet and walk around 15-20 miles per night pushing and pulling pallets the entire time this pointed toe is a fatal flaw in steel toe especially. I am required to wear steel toe by my work. Have tried 2 different brands Reebok and Keen from Zappos but I don't think it matters which brand I switch to. All the larger size shoes sadly have this pointed toe/smash pinky toe. Going to try to exchange for 15Wide Keen now, which is kind of ridiculous since I really wear size 13. Please don't make pointed shoes that cut the pinky toe off, especially in steel toe which can't be "worn in" over time like a fabric toe shoe.

Got this shoe because of reviews and it did not disappoint. Feet felt great at end of shift and I walked a lot. Very pleased with this shoe.

Better than expected, you will need to get insoles and they tend to run small in size (keen) so keep that in mind.

Love these shoes. It took about a day to break them in. My fee breathe really well and stay dry throughout the day. Keeps my feet pain free after 11hr shifts.
