Although I ordered medium, the chest was sized more like 46-48. Worst fit ever. Otherwise it is a good product. LL Bean's sizing charts are grossly misleading.

I purchased two flannel shirts and they both fit perfectly in the store ( my spouse agreed). We washed them as directed on the label and now they are equivalent to the next size down. Unable to button sleeves because they are now too short and too tight.
Not worth wasting money on.

I was disappointed in the weight of the flannel. Seems cheap and thin as to compared to previous flannel Bean purchases. So, for the price, I'd say you may have increased your margins, but lost a "flannel" customer in the process.

This item is not a "large" as compared to previously owned shirts I have purchased from LLBean. The shirt is much larger than expected and is closer, in my opinion, to being an XXL. Had I not had it monogrammed I would have returned it. H Morgan

I have at least 20 other size large shirts, including one LL Beane Flannel shirt. The shirt that I received is tagged size Large but it must be at least X Large. I gave it to my son, who wears X Large

I purchased two if these flannels about 2 years ago and would wear them every chance I got. Decided to grow the collection this year and was so disappointed at the quality of the shirts I received in the mail this year. The plaid pattern looks like its printed on the shirt rather than the actual color of the threads being woven. I ended up returning both that I ordered :(

Loved it until first washing, never went in the clothes dryer but went from perfect to a little tighter fit than before. Disappointed expected better from bean

I used to love these flannel shirts. Ten years or so ago they were thick, warm and sturdy. Now, however, they are so thin, and the material so lightweight, that they are plagued by static electricity - very cheap feel. I recently purchased 2 of these flannel shirts and they fill the clothes dryer lint catcher every time I wash them. I'm surprised they have not disintegrated in the wash yet. They are just not the quality I used to expect from L.L. Bean.

thin flannel and it shrinks. Got the Grey Stewart for Xmas present. Not the LL Bean Flannel shirts of old.

I have received a Bean flannel most every year from my Mom for Christmas and they have been all heavy weight, durable, tight weave material, I received my much anticipated Black Watch flannel this year and couldn't believe how thin the material was and it seems to be balling up a bit and it attracts pet hair like crazy unlike most of my other flannel. Basically pretty disappointing, the quality seems like a Walmart equivalent. Not sure what to do for future purchases.Bummer

I purchased a couple of these shirts for Christmas gifts. Nice shirts, they were well liked.....EXCEPT....they were much larger than expected. My son normally wears an XL in nearly every brand of shirt or t-shirt. I purchased XL regular fit and they were huge on him. I therefore am in the process of getting them returned to exchange.

I own several of these shirts in Medium. For unknown reasons, the sleeves on this shirt were over 2 inches longer than past examples in my closet. The shirt fit well through the waist and shoulders, but couldn't justify the cost of having the sleeves shortened. I don't understand the inconsistent sizing of this Bean's staple. Returned the shirt.

The Lindsay colored shirt is pilling with little tiny balls all over the fabric. I have not had this problem as much with other colors for some reason.

Every LLBean shirt I own is super high quality in every aspect except for the fit of this one shirt. I look like a 6-5" hand-me-down recipient from Cosmo Kramer's closet. This garment offers no body shape at all. It's a blouse. Embarrassing.
(Might be featured in a 1950 Catalog.)
LLBean is known for being uniquely successful at turning "Traditional" into "Fashionable." I love that look as long it's still currently stylish.

I bought 2 of these shirts. Both are disappointing. They are a bit snug for a large from LL Bean, but fit ok. The disappointment is with the pilling after the first wash, very evident in the lint filter. At least after several more washes, they are no worse. The result, however, is a fabric coarseness, even around the collar. My arm seam is 31in; the sleeve length for me is good. For someone with longer arms, the sleeves may be too short. I won't buy the product again.

Have had LL Bean flannel shirts in the past and have been very pleased. This recent purchase is an exception and I'm very disappointed. The most objectionable aspect of this shirt is that the sleeves are about 1 1/2 inches longer than the shirts previously purchased. Also, the fabric, while soft, doesn't have the nice feel of the old ones. Perhaps further laundering will improve the feel but before that happens, this shirt will probably be donated or relegated to the rag bag. I noted that the previous shirts were manufactured in Canada and the current version was manufactured in El Salvador, obviously from a different manufacturer with different standards. Since I don't have any confidence in the sizing, I won't be ordering any more LL Bean flannel shirts or other Bean shirts if their sizing is consistent with this flannel shirt. The size I ordered was L-Reg (Traditional Fit).

What is happening with clothing measurements at LL Bean? They usually are reliable. The sleeves on this shirt cover my husband's knuckles--it will have to go back.

I ordered 3 long sleeve shirts all Traditional fit Reg-Medium. This shirt had sleeves that were 2" longer than the other two, which was unacceptable. I returned this shirt. Material quality was good and it fit except for the extra long sleeves.

The quality and fabric of this shirt are very good, but the arms are way too long for a regular fit. They might even be too long for a tall fit.

Maybe Old Bean is using different measurements but things have changed. I just received the largest xlg shirt ever. Great color, and feel but huge and the collar looks like it belongs on a xxxlrg shirt. It's a shame because it's a good looking shirt. Going back, maybe I'll try the large.

This seems like a quality shirt, but it is lighter weight than I expected. I'd hardly consider it flannel. It is more like a brushed twill, and light twill at that. Maybe it is because I am used to wearing chamois shirts which are heavier. I have had LL Bean flannels in the past which seemed much heavier. It would help if they actually listed the weight of the flannel in ounces like they do with there sheets. They you would know what to expect and could compare better. I may keep it as it is a useful weight, just now what I expected.

I was going to throw out my husband's old LL Bean flannel shirt because it had a hole in the arm. Then I picked it up, and it was thick gorgeous flannel. No way was I going to throw it out! I patched it and ordered two more from them for the holidays! One for me, and one for him. Matching. They are nowhere near the quality of the one I patched. 1/3 of the thickness, and they are pilling already. What is up with that? If you want uber thick flannel, this is NOT it. :( Their sizing is still great though. The old LLBean shirt was made in El Salvador. #0MT07 I guess we'll be keeping that one forever....and sending these back.

I was not impressed. This was the first time I placed an order. I accidentally ordered 2 of the same shirts, I tried to adjust the order, was on hold for 25 minutes, and once I got someone they told me that the order has not yet arrived at the call station. I was very frustrated..

I am disappointed in the size of the shirts. For years I have always ordered XL shirts and they have fit perfectly. This recent order of two XL shirts are gigantic in comparison. The sleeves are at least 3 inches longer each than previous purchases. End to end they measure 68 inches. The girth of the shirts will easily fit around a 54 inch waist.
It almost appears that LL Bean has had these shirts made this way so grossly overweight people can wear them and still boast that they wear an XL size Very discouraging to say the least.
Unfortunately I discarded the wrappers after opening them otherwise I would send them back.

Sad to have to give this so few stars, as it seems like a high quality item that has the misfortune of being horribly sized. When I unwrapped it from the packaging, I did a double-take to ensure I had ordered the correct size. That's how bad it is.
To give you an idea, I'm 5'10" and 185 lbs (athletic). I generally hover riiiiight along the medium/large divide. Thinking this might run slightly large, I went with the medium. I could quite figuratively go for a swim in this thing. The sleeves come down to my fingertips, the tail below my second set of cheeks, and the traditional cut is more generous than most Bean products. It feels like this could be close to an XL.
I guess the plan at this point is to exchange it for a small and see how that works...
