The Gel Venture 8 in 9 1/2 M are great. Not sure exactly what the difference is between the GV8 & previous GV7 - but the GV8s are a vast improvement over the 7 which I wore for several years. The toe box seems slightly more roomy in the 8’s. There is no rubbing on my little or big toe. And the breathable fabric seems sturdier - I went through the toes of the 7’s in 3 months. I like that Asics has gone back to a regular shoe lace which will stay tied, rather slippery round nylon laces. I do replace the basic Asics insole with a Spenco Total Support Max insole. The Gel Venture 8 is very accommodating. The tread is the same as the 7’s - which actually works pretty well in the snow and ice. The tread on the 7’s has held up ok - only put on about 500 miles in a year of walking. Very pleased with these Asics Gel Venture 8s. The new colors are quite nice, imho. I’m keeping both pairs and look forward to my next purchases of Gel Venture 8’s from Zappos in a year!

I needed a pair of shoes for walking our dog in Vermont…sometimes I’m on dirt roads, sometimes I’m in the woods, and sometimes I’m down at the lake! these are comfy, rugged enough that I don’t feel the terrain through the soles, and attractive (which DOES matter!!) I plan on making these last which is the reason for the dark color-shows less dirt…and there’s a lot of dirt in Vermont!! so far they’re a WIN! ?

These are really cute shoes and look great, but those who said they have a large toe box must have really tiny feet. They are tight on my little toe, and I can only wear them for a few hours at a time - not all day. I am very disappointed in that as I was hoping to have them as my every day shoes.

This may have been mis-marked as an 8 when it was really a 7. I have the same Gel Venture in black in an 8 and it fits. But this one has to go back.

I wear orthotics and these shoes accommodate them nicely. I’ve no idea why other reviewers indicated they run small/ narrow. I’ve tried to insert my orthotics into multiple other brands and other Aasics styles and these were the winner! I have a medium width foot and with many other brands, I would have needed to get a wide width to accommodate the orthotics but as a result, my feet would not have had enough support.

This style of Asics is made for people who under pronate, like myself, and true to their claims, they did definitely help correct my walking. I definitely would not recommend these for people who over pronate, as they are not made for their feet. They definitely help tilt me inward a bit. The cushion is great on these as well. As soon as I felt who cushioned these are (compared to my Venture 6's that I have completely worn out from over wearing them), I was so relieved. These have helped reduce my ankle pain and are GREAT for hiking.

Very disappointed. As other reviewers have mentioned, I found these to run way smaller and narrower than the previous two versions (Venture 6 & 7) which I've loved and worn comfortably the past few years. Comparing to the 7, the sole seems about the same size, but the upper seems tighter/shorter on top of the sole (if that makes sense). My toes didn't have room on the sides or in the length. Also, the shape of the shoe felt straighter than past versions. I can't speak to arch support too well - they seemed flatter but maybe that was because my feet didn't fit inside properly.

I was looking for sneakers to wear on walks with my dog . I’m in Vermont, on dirt roads and in the woods, so everything gets dirty…the color was a big factor for this reason. These are wicked comfortable, they look great, and everyday dirt doesn’t really show! The price was decent as well. Perfect fit. Plenty wide. Very happy!

For about 3 years I was buying the Gel Venture 7. When the Venture 7 was no longer available on Zappos, I decided to get the Gel Venture 8 after doing some research and finding the shoes were very similar. I am someone that works in retail 40-50 hours a week, I walk 15-20K steps a day so my shoes take a beating. I end up needing to buy a new pair about every 6 months. I have had the Gel Venture 8 for only 3 months and the mesh has ripped so badly I need a new pair already. The mesh never rips on the Venture 7, I only have to replace because the back of the ankle wears down, but the rest of the shoe holds up. I will not be buying the Venture 8 again and will find somewhere else that sells the Venture 7. Very disappointed that I need a new pair already!

I have Gel Venture 6 and Gel Venture 7, both definitely older shoes by now. I ordered the Gel Venture 8 and was disappointed in the fit which to me was most important, but also the quality of the look of the shoes has diminished. Would not get these Asics shoes again. I wear custom orthotics and after removing the insole, the shoes have always fitted fine. Did not even try the orthotics in the Venture 8 due to the skimpy width/fit with just my foot & sock in them!

I usually use size 9.5 - but ordered these running shoes in size 10 - However they were too small and I need to return them

I had to send this order back for a full size larger . Support is good. Not too much arch support.

The toe box is narrow even in the wide.

I really like these asic sneakers, brilliant and beautiful colors but I have to return them.Shoes are super cute but they are not that comfortable and run small.

Asics are great for narrower heels and mid-soles. I've been wearing Asics shoes for what feels like my whole life, and they never disappoint me. These GEL-Ventures are perfect inexpensive shoes designed for easy to moderate hiking trails. They are definitely worth their mileage. I've hiked through multiple national parks in them, in sun, rain and even occasional snow, not to mention regular road and dirt trails in So Cal, and I even wore them to do some light farm work when I didn't have alternative footwear. They held up beautifully, and they still look great, despite being a little worn inside and lacking support now after 400 miles. Now it's time to retire them and make them my everyday sneakers, because man, do they look stylish!

They seem to run small and there is no arch support. I ordered a half size larger and they are still small in the toe area.

Shoes are super cute but they are not that comfortable and run small. I would say they are a good fashion sneaker but not a good athletic sneakers.

I got these a half size larger than I normally wear and they fit perfect. They run smaller, but I absolutely love my shoes. They are light and are great on my knees and back, which is what I needed to keep active.

I was surprised the shoe was a little short and slightly cramped in the toe box, as I have had several pairs of them in this size. I ordered a new pair a half size bigger.
