Bought these to walk round Venice! As someone who has major issues buying shoes these were a terrific find. Comfortable, stylish [I bought the red ones]. Straight out of the box onto the feet no problem! Bought half a size up from my normal site size.

I've had the shoe forca few months and I like it very much.
The first shoe of choice use to be my sense ride 3, I now prefer my sonic 4 balance they are more comfortable for me both are great however.

The first time I put these shoes on I was amazed, I waited for 3 weeks of use and I can still say I am very happy with this purchase. I am 61 years old and have had foot, leg and back pain for years. These shoes take care of my feet and my body. I will never buy a different athletic shoe for the rest of my life. Thank you very much.

From the line up you can infer that I am passionate about running and my Salomon's. Having two Sonic 3's, the yellow pair has 273 miles while the blue has 50 miles, they have been outstanding for both short-fast distances and long runs. Having worn the Sonic 4 for only a dreadmill run the immediate difference is the fit. It appears to be have more room in the toe box, the uppers are lightweight and breathable, the optivibe does its job perfectly and the outsole is the same as the previous models for the most part and as such it retains the annoying ability to collect small road debris between the channels in the outsole. Notwithstanding this minor issue I'm looking forward to adding plenty of miles on the 4's.

Perfect road running shoe for me, I use it mostly for road mixed with light terrain, urban running. Excellent trainer.

Overall, the Salomons are great shoes. They look fun and sporty, and they feel spacious yet secure. They also felt true to width: their width was perfect for a comfortable, secure feeling.
The shoes had great support: they hold the feet in very well while not feeling tight at all.

Overall, it was a good fit. I have high arches so it is difficult to find arch support in a base shoe. Have only wore them once so this is only preliminary.

The Sonic 4 Balance are very light weight and comfortable for everyday use. The long term wear if walking for long periods of time your feet do get tired. We are talking about 7 to 10 hours of play!! Great shoes and will look forward to trying a different Solomon shoe on my next purchase with a bit more cushion.

Solid Shoe!
The Salomon Sonic 4 Balance is an overall solid running shoe. I typically wear a size 9 in Salomon shoes and boots but ran in a size 9.5. It was a little roomy but not by much, leading me to feel that these are true to size and width. The Sonic 4 Balance wears comfortably with ample cushioning. I took these out for 3 road runs of distances from 3-5 miles. Overall, the Sonic 4's provided enough cushioning and stable support for all 3 runs. While the cushioning is ample, the Sonic 4's are not quite as cushioned as my older pair of Sonic RA Max 2's, which in all fairness, are built for longer runs. The Sonic 4's are pretty light and the mesh upper allows for good breathability as my feet didn't overheat on the longer runs.
By way of background, I generally log 25-35 miles per week of both road and trail running. I own several pairs of Salomon's and On's for both types of running terrain and have been happy with both brands - they both seem to just work for me and these are no different. In terms of grading, for overall comfort and style, I'd rate the Sonic 4 Balance's a 4 out of 5.
In a nutshell, the Salomon Sonic 4's certainly hold their own on the road and I've been very pleased with their comfort and performance so far.
