This is a repeat purchase for me as my old pair started to wear & tear after exceptionally heavy use over a couple of years. These walking shoes are sturdy offering great support. Exceptionally comfortable & a great looking design

I've had several different hiking shoes but my Saloman-xultra 4 are hands down the best. I like the quick lace paracord and the gore tex keeps my feet dry. Great for the long hikes with my scouts and I even wear them to work.

Did 150 miles on these in the first month, as training for an upcoming 300 mile thru hike. They're really comfortable. My only concern is the durability of the elastic laces. They're convenient but already starting to fray. And they're so thin that no replacement normal style laces in my town will fit. Hopefully they don't break on my big hike, but I have faith! They're GREAT

This is the 4th or 5th pair of Salomon hiking shoes that I've purchased. They are comfortable but very functional.

My go to hiking shoe for Arizona and the southwest . Even in dryer areas I still buy the Gore Tex . Keeps the desert prickly stuff out , something shoe retailers never mention .

I am purchasing my 2nd pair of this line. I put 500 miles+ on the last pair. They are light, stable, and grippy. The water proofing is not a big deal, these are not boots. It's good for puddles not stream crossings. I strongly recommend these shoes.

I've only had these shoes a couple weeks now but they are my 6th pair of X Ultras and very comfortable and lightweight I love the grip on muddy trails this time of year.

Nice comfortable shoe. A little hard to don initially but is easier after a few days. The little tab at the Achilles tendon tends to fold into the shoe when donning.

Just put 15mi ~5k ft breaking in my X Ultra 4 GTX and they performed beautifully, no hot spots, great breathability, insane traction and I was pleasantly surprised with the quick lace system. Would highly recommend this shoe I am more than satisfied with my purchase. Consider picking up the gaiters to keep sand pebbles out of the shoe

Gym and runng shoe for me. I have chronic pain and surgeries and Solomon Ortholite insoles help my knees, hips and back in every shoe of theirs I wear. Stellar product.

These are great shoes. They are truly waterproof but not too hot. I walk daily for about 5Km. The shoes provide good support and are comfortable.

My second pair, first pair lasted 4 years, still waterproof, still wear them to wash the boat and cut grass! I love all the Solomon stuff I have, ski boots, hiking boots, and a few pair of goretex shoes!

I've been using these for a few weeks now and I had the previous version. This one has special cushioning on the side, at the middle of your feet thus giving extra stability. I got the "narrow" version as I don't have wide feet and it fits me perfectly. It's as if someone was constantly holding my feet but gently. IF you don't like side cushioning then this may not be for you but hiking in this will have definite advantages - harder to sprain your ankles in my opinion. Personally I find the blue color scheme is awesome. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase.

When I switched to low-cuts for hiking a couple of years ago, I had a hard time finding a model that gave enough protection underfoot and the right amount of cushion and flexibility--like what I had in my favorite high-top, the Salomon Quest 4D. The X Ultra 4 is the one! Also, some waterproof low-cuts have a too much rise at the outer ankle bone, causing a rub that becomes annoying after short while. (Even some Salomon low-cut's I tried years ago had that problem.) The X Ultra 4 gets that just right too. I also like the new Contagrip tread. It's a cleat-style, open pattern. My early-model Quest 4D had sipes (those little slits that they use in tire treads), which catch and hold tiny stones that need to be pried out with a screwdriver so they don't scratch the floors in your house or travel trailer. Because I like to wear bulky socks when hiking, especially if I'm carrying some weight, I bought these in a half-size larger than usual, to make sure my toes don't crash in when descending.

Waterproof, traction, durability. This are my 4th pair of Salomon shoes. I'm extremely tough on shoes. I will continue to purchase, because they work.

Bought the Salomon Ultra 4s as a light weight hiking shoe. I hike a lot in very hot weather and these do the trick. Comfortable, light and not too hot (also water proof). A great shoe all around - really enjoying wearing them.
